22,000 “Green” Jobs Outsourced to India

Barack Obama and his green guru, Van Jones, have a green-collar job plan that they believe will solve the two biggest crises of our time: 5 million new green-collar jobs will directly stimulate the economy and will contribute to a more sustainable future in the face of coming climate change. But the 2009 Green Outsourcing Report, an annual industry study conducted by Brown-Wilson Group, found that green technology jobs are being created faster in India than in the US since Obama took office.
The report, which was released two weeks ago, surveyed 4,000 businesses around the world, including Xerox, Accenture, IBM Global, CSC, Capgemini, Oracle, HP/ ED S, Aramark, SITEL and Perot. Doug Brown, co-author of the Green Outsourcing Report, told The New Indian Express, “We see the (green job offshoring) trend increasing. There are few suppliers who match credentials and outcomes of Indian firms.”

Soaring energy costs and regulatory pressure have put pressure on firms in the US and Europe to embrace green technologies. 84% of companies outsourcing green jobs are doing so because of skyrocketing energy costs, compared to 12% and 18% in the past few years, respectively. Most corporations seeking to outsource a service or product require impeccable green credentials in their suppliers before handing over work, the report says.
US corporations, focusing on survival strategies during the long-lasting recession, have offshored more than 22,000 new green-collar jobs to India alone. Firms seeking stabilized energy and labor costs while trying to convince consumers of their eco-friendly practices are more often turning to Indian green-collar workers than American ones, according to Brown-Wilson Group. Indian labor suppliers have become popular with American businesses over the last few years by aggressively investing in appropriate hardware, waste disposal, recycling, eco-friendly buildings and other green technologies.
Surprisingly, just a year ago, India was remarked to be among the world’s highest polluting nations and suffering from offshore aversion and reverse outsourcing.

Hey friends, I think we can all pretty much agree that Alex has done a TREMENDOUS job of getting the truth out. But he is one man with a small staff and even small budget. It is up to ME and to YOU to continue our due dilligence and seek and share the truth. It is up to ME and YOU to contact our elected officials and call bullshit on them. I’m in Denver which is supposedly the hub for “green jobs” which we all know is a travishamockery. After I post this I’m sending messages to Guv. Bill Shitter and my congressional representatives, Bennet, DeGette and effing Boulder liberal Udall and respectfully give them the “what’s up”. I suggest others do the same because if we don’t stand up and voice our concerns, who will? Support those who are doing the work of the people. Believe it or not they are out there but w/out our support they will get steamrolled by the giant bankroll of the elitists. PLEASE GET ACTIVE.

This is totally unacceptable! I know what it’s like to be outsourced. In 2004 Capital One got rid of apx 1100 of us. Why pay us $15 when you can pay an overseas worker 50 cents an hour? Big companies do NOT have any loyalty to their workers. And so much for Obama “bringing jobs back here”, as he was quoted as saying. Bullcrap. Open your eyes and watch The Obama Deception. I have a 21 year old son and see him and some of his friends struggling to find a job that pays enough to live on. They do work full time (and these aren’t fast food restaurant jobs) but the jobs just do not pay a living wage. Not everyone wants to go to college and from what I see it seems even if you have a degree you may not get a good job. It used to be you could find some kind of job without a college degree and make a decent wage, but not much anymore.
It saddens me to see these young men who truly want to find a job that they can do which would provide enough to get a home, put food on the table.

Sharon I know your fears. I too am so pissed off at the ongoing lies, so many of my friends ‘THOUGHT’ that Obama would do what he promised instead, like Bush, he is a liar. I THOUGHT that he was going to TAX , HURT the companies that did not bring their businesses back to the US instead he is busy taking care of the ULTRA rich, not your son or mine.

I’ve been studying this for nearly 10 years now. I really think Alex is dead on about one thing he’s been saying lately: If you think it’s bad now – it can, and probably will get a lot, lot worse. our nation has been in decline – from a middle class perspective – for nearly 50 years. It’s been very sutble, they try to hid it with inflation, housing bubble gimmicks, fake government “statistics,” etc. but they can’t really hide it any more, they are running out of magic shows to pull on the American people. Obama is the most recent one, but people are waking up to this also. the most amazing thing about this is that academics (libertarians) were warning about this as long as 100 years ago. People like mises, rothbard, hayek, rand, friedman, bastait, and others. but nobody even seems to know this…. celente was right, we need to take back the nation, but its going to take an intellectual revolution. get your guns, gold, and groceries, and once you have that taken care of, pick up the classics, pick up the constitution, light a candle, and study as hard as you can. study like your life and your country depends on it, because it does. that’s what i’ve been doing. we need to get rid of all of these traiters, put them in jail.

Now “green living” is important, but when I was younger – in the days of dumping barrels of toxic waste into the ocean and rain forest removal – it didn’t seem to be an issue at all. Honestly anyone who thinks project green is going to have a significant affect is wasting their time and energy. Project Green exists so that in the end “they” have the ability to say, “well we tried”. The Earth and our existence has been compromised by greed to the point that it is simply too late to fix. To put it simply – If a person smokes cigarettes and quits the damage is still done. They say every cigarette takes 3 minutes from your life. So to put that calculation into perspective every chemical plant on earth is a cigarette taking 30 years or more from us. It has been realized that the only way for humanity to survive our own situation is to advance to the point to expand past our planet and colonize space. However this option will only be available to those who have the assets for such an endeavor. And considering the current state of the world and it’s power players, this means the only survivors of humanity will be the ones that traded our time for their money.
