4th Amendment? We Don’t Need No Stinkin’ 4th Amendment

Police may solemnly swear to support the Constitution of the United States, but this is increasingly a meaningless formality for many of them.

For instance, a couple cops in Dallas County, Texas, arrived at Jon Locke’s home to serve an arrest warrant on his brother, who wasn’t there. Mr. Locke wasn’t home either, but instead of coming back at a later time when somebody was home and asking about the brother, the police took it upon themselves to violate the Fourth Amendment and rifle through the homeowner’s possessions. They went so far as to enter his home without a search warrant.

According to WFAA News in Dallas-Forth Worth, the homeowner no longer trusts the police and has decided to sell his house and move out of the area. “I don’t feel safe here at all,” he said. “We lost that trust in GPD [the Garland Police Department]. It’s time for us to go,”

Prior to the Revolution, British officialdom used general warrants under Writs of Assistance to search the property of colonists for contraband, a practice that so outraged the founders they made certain the Fourth Amendment became a bedrock principle of the Bill of Rights. English common law of the period considered it trespass when officials and soldiers invaded homes without legal authorization. “The house of every one is to him as his castle and fortress, as well for his defense against injury and violence as for his repose,” Sir Edward Cooke declared in 1604, nearly two hundred years before the American Revolution.

Nowadays, instead of upholding constitutional law and respecting the principle of individual rights and British common law, the state is engaged in an organized fleecing of the public and conducts revenue enhancement operations often violating the Fourth Amendment with arrogant impunity. The Constitution and the Bill of Rights are all but meaningless for federal, state and local government today.

Officer Friendly has been replaced with Officer Thug who not only violates the Constitution he is supposedly sworn to uphold, but also freely engages in sadistic and occasionally homicidal behavior when his petty power is challenged by citizens.
