An elderly woman who owns a gun store in the Oregon town where last week’s shooting took place is blasting liberals’ knee jerk reaction to infringe on the Second Amendment in the wake of the tragedy.
Following Thursday’s shooting at the Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, in which 10 people died including the shooter, the Obama administration, gun control groups and progressive news outlets scrambled at another chance to push the gun control agenda.
Carolyn Kellim, an 86-year-old gun shop owner in Roseburg, however, blames the individual and not the firearm for what happened.
In an interview with NBC News, showing what they called the “Softer Side of Guns,” Kellim said she feels individuals are responsible for their own actions, and rejected constitutional restraints.
“I think that’s the worst thing in the world they could do,” the great-grandmother said. “They’ve got so many laws now that they are not even looking at, and more constraints on guns is not the answer.”
Kellim, who says her favorite firearm is a Ruger LCR .22 Magnum revolver, excoriated President Obama over his push for stricter gun control laws, questioning if he had ever fired a gun and referring to him as the “executive anus,” according to NBC’s Mike Brunker.
“He has strange ideas,” Kellim said. “I don’t think he’s ever carried a gun. I’m not sure he’s ever shot one… but he seems to think that they’re bad all the way through. They’re not.”
As far as how to prevent future mass shootings, Kellim recommended a general compassion toward fellow humans.
“That’s so important in today’s world. We have to take care of people that have had a bad luck stroke.”
