Police in Bexar County, Texas responded to an active shooter situation at the Lackland Air Force Base Friday.
The base and several schools in the area were placed on lockdown while police searched for potential active shooters after two people were found dead.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said they are investigating the incident as a possible murder-suicide.
“They did find two people who were dead,” stated Bexar County Sheriff’s Office spokesman James Keith. “Right now it does appear to be a murder-suicide situation. However, there are still some rooms that are locked, that we are still trying to gain entry into.”
The Marine Corps Times reports, “According to initial internal Pentagon communications obtained by Air Force Times, the commanding officer of the 331st Training Squadron at the base was shot by an airman.”
