AIG Bonuses Add to Potential for Public Revolt against Wall Street, Federal Reserve

When AIG took more than $170 billion in bailout money from the Federal Reserve, it insisted it was so poor that only emergency funding of public money could save it. That was before AIG revealed it was "contractually obliged" to pay $165 million in bonuses to its executives. Which executives, exactly? The ones who lost all the money in the first place!




	People will be marching in the streets, demanding the arrest of all the rich executives and corrupt bureaucrats who took part in this massive financial theft.

But this article isn’t about the facts surrounding the AIG bailout and its subsequent payout of $165 million in bonuses to incompetent executives. This is about something far more serious: The growing discontent among taxpayers who are inching ever closer towards a popular revolt.

Yes, there is a limit to how much even the mainstream public will put up with. And the only reason they aren’t marching in the streets right now is because all this bailout money hasn’t hit them in their own pocketbooks… yet. But once the hyperinflation of the U.S. dollar begins (which is now inevitable), and the public starts to connect the dots between their own financial losses and the bailout bonus money paid to rich executives, they are going to be utterly outraged at the magnitude and arrogance of the financial theft that took place right in front of them.

I believe it is no exaggeration to say that when these issues come to a crescendo, people will be marching in the streets, demanding the arrest of all the rich executives and corrupt bureaucrats who took part in this massive financial theft.

Let’s be blunt about this: This $165 in bonus money being paid to incompetent AIG managers is essentially money confiscated from hard-working American taxpayers. It’s just like being mugged on the street, except this theft will cost you much, much more than any mugging.

What we are witnessing here with this bailout fiasco is a massive theft of money from the People. And it’s the kind of scandal that makes people hopping mad when they finally figure it out. This is the kind of stuff that leads to wars of independence (read your American history books) and breakups of entire nations. And instead of stopping this madness and telling AIG they can’t pay million-dollar bonuses using taxpayer bailout money, the U.S. Congress and President just look the other way, pretending no theft is happening at all! Only a few lawmakers like Rep. Barney Frank (and Ron Paul, of course) have dared to stand up and challenge this fiscal madness (http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Frank…).

Betting the farm on a bankrupt nation

Meanwhile, the debt situation in America has become so dire that China is once again asking for assurances on U.S. debt (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/15/u…).

They should be. The U.S. is so hopelessly lost in debt spending that there is no conceivable way to avoid outright national bankruptcy. So President Obama now takes to the podium and declares what every informed person in the world knows to be a lie, saying, "…every investor can have absolute confidence in the soundness of investments in the United States."

And I have a bridge to sell ya in Brooklyn, too!

A White House spokesperson adds to the hilarity by saying, "There’s no safer investment in the world than in the United States [debt]." (http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?…)

These are extraordinary statements from the world’s most highly-mortgaged debtor nation. They remind me of tobacco company executives stating, "Nicotine is not addictive," or Merck saying "Vioxx is safe." Sure, the U.S. — which needs about $2 trillion more in loans just to continue its bailout charade — is going to insist it will pay back the money. But how can it? With an economic depression now underway, and the import / export trade imbalance at dangerous levels, and the expense of fighting two wars hanging over the American Empire like a two-ton lead weight, the only person who believes the U.S. is a good credit risk is an insane person.

Buying U.S. debt is no doubt one of the dumbest things any investor could ever do, short of just pouring gasoline on dollar bills and lighting them up (which would actually help the Fed because it would slightly reduce the money supply).

Note carefully that what Madoff was arrested for (ripping off investors by running a ponzi scheme), the U.S. Treasury is pursuing as official policy! U.S. Treasury Bills are, in fact, a classic example of ponzi scheme mechanics: The only way the early investors get paid is if NEW investors can be suckered into the scheme in order to bring new money to the table! And when Obama says the U.S. is a safe investment, it echoes the words of Madoff himself who insisted that his own "investment brokerage" was a safe place for investors, too!

It is now obvious to every intelligent person familiar with the situation that the U.S. will default on its debt in some fashion, either by declaring a default or by paying off the debt with worthless hyper-inflated currency, which is much the same as declaring a default. The "one world currency" gang will then step in and exploit the crisis to seize control over the global money supply, and the U.S. dollar will be traded in (at pennies on the dollar) for some other global currency that’s once again controlled by the global elite.

Don’t be suckered into the U.S. dollar ponzi scheme

The only way to avoid losing your wealth during this transition is to convert your dollars to something real. Trade your dollars for gold, silver, land, storable food, seeds, tools, water filters or other things that hold value. The dollars you do not convert will be confiscated in one way or another, either through rising taxation or theft via new money creation.

Based on the way things are headed right now, I fully expect to see Americans rioting in the streets at some point in the next few years when the real pain of the bailout money fiasco starts to be felt by Joe Public. There are things you need to do in order to prepare for that, and I’ll write more about those topics here on CounterThink as events unfold.

Joeranger, I remember the video of the cop who pepper-sprayed himself ’cause he was all hot and hard to arrest this little girl riding her bike on the sidewalk and how, when he finally regained some of sight he hobbled over to where his fellow assassins were holding her on the ground with their knees and PUNCHED HER REPEATEDLY IN THE FACE! Sure they print it, but what backs it? Every dollar in circulation is an IOU for a dollar of future labor of a US taxpayer. So EVERY DOLLAR THEY PRINT OR CREATE ELECTRONICALLY IS A DOLLAR THE TAXPAYERS OWE! The bankers profit, they get bailouts of taxpayer cash and the people suffer and PAY.

Where/when does it end?

It is so unfair to all those millions of people standing in the unemployment lines, and then if they are lucky enough to work, the government taxes the hell out of them so that these rich bankers get their bonuses.

Is this fair? What can we do in a non violent way to change this, to have a voice that the government will listen to? There has to be a way to change these things in a peaceful, democratic way.

Are the Jewish people a religion, a race or both? Are you born Jewish or is that something that you embrace? Most people I know are born black or white and then embrace the religion of their choice.

The only way to set it straight is through hyperinflation, which will cause the people to keep working for less and less “value” until the gross domestic product of the entire world catches back up with our debt. We can only hope that it gets orchestrated in a decent way. Nobody is going to like it. But the super rich will at least be able to afford a shadow of thier former lifestyles. The Federal Reserve was created in 1913. It prints money and makes a percentage from every dollar printed. Since it gives the money away it charges interest. A percent and Interest from every dollar printed. Do you think they want to print money?
It then gives money to the banks (them self). Now the banks charge interest on loans to the people. The people pay their taxes to pay for the interest from the Federal Reserve. Get it, win win for the bankers.

The Bankers are the one that benefited from fractional reserve (Fake money).
The Bankers bought real assets with a fraction of the money and left us with the fraction of fake money. The Bankers then collapsed our economy.
The Bankers then needed a bail out. That is the Federal Reserve to print more money backed by the government ( the U.S. tax payer). More interest to the Bankers

. The Bankers paid the Elected officials to pass a bill with no accountability and no way to see what happened to the bail out money. Now they want more.

The Bankers have shown they can buy enough of are elected officials to pass or not pass any Bill they want. We the people must demand our elected officials do what is right for the people, not the bankers that can buy anything for them.

It’s time to demand our elected officials do what is right for we the people.
We called the Elected officials in record numbers to let them know we did not want a
7 billion dollar bail out. Over 90% of a record number of calls said NO. They did it anyway. With no power even to see who gets how much. Really?

We need to keep the fire up and strike back with rule of law. Pass bills to audit the Federal Reserve. It is only right if they can audit us.

We have some Bills that need passing to force the Federal Reserve let us know who and how much was given. That is only a f. air thing to know

Call your Senators have demand they cosigned on S.B. 513 Transparent Act. It is to audit the Federal Reserve.
Then call your Representative and ask them to cosign H.R. 1207 to audit the Federal Reserve. And H.R. 833 to abolish the Federal Reserve.

Once again, people try to give a complicated answer for a very basic problem.

If AIG cannot pay those bonuses, that’s bewteen AIG and its workers. How many bonus bucks would they be getting if the government failed to bail them out? Would they still “honor” those contracts then? If they are really in the shape they claim they are in….probably not.

Let AIG hand out IOUs, and once they are making money again, let them pay out those bonus bucks then, but no way shoud our money be paying for bonuses for a bunch of bankers who can’t keep their company afloat.

This entire bailout BS is totally out of control. We obviously have the foxes in charge of the henhouse and the rhetoric we see in all of the blogs and news outlets is just that. The criminals are in charge and I hope that soon the general public can get away from the propaganda machine, the TV that is, to get a clue. The connected few are playing by their own rules and the general public have to live by other rules that are in fact made by the connected few. A no-win for anyone not connected. It is so obvious. Large, publicly traded corporations that are supposedly too big to fail really means that they are too connected to fail. It is an outrage that any institution is too big to fail. It is simply not the case. We may have a bit of severe pain if these biggies were to fail but the real economy would soon pick up the pieces and replace this shadow economy of dubious creation by the crooks in charge. Getting back to bonuses, there should not only be no bonuses but a roleback of salary as well. This is basically a bankrupt company by their own doing as well as the market that went against them. Mostly of their own doing though as the dirivative casino part of their business is likely what came crashing down. You know, in the real economy, if a firm of any size goes bankrupt, there are no bonuses and some people are laid off and some creditors take a haircut too. This all assumes that a successful chapter 11 workout is completed.
Also, I think it outrageous that any corporation that pays upper mangement huge multimillion dollar bonuses for successful times does not stipulate that if the company goes down at their helm, they have a good chunk of their personal fortune that was gained from working at the company be at risk of liquidation as well. In small businesses, corporations or other entities, of which I have owned, to do business ,any bank asks for and gets personal guarantees, thereby putting the personal gains of the principles at risk as well as the assets of the business entity. I would conclude that had these executives been on the hook personally for a massive failure as we are witnessing, we may not be witnessing it at all as they probably would have been much more conservatiive in their business models and not created the casino dirivative BS in the first place. Now that they have had such a free hand at looting the company into oblivion they now have the audacity to continue to loot the taxpayer money as well. What galls me is that there is even ny discussion about this obvious theft right before our eyes. It should be simply not only no but hell no to them all. We the people now own that crap of a company. We should now simply put it into chapter 11 bankruptsy and get rid of all management and replace them with honest people. When will the vast majority of the people realize that all of the trillions of fed loans which are underwritten by the public and the treasury bailout billions are not going to restart the real economy but to keep the casino economy afloat for the elite.
To the American people, we need to shut down the casino economy and that alone will restart the real economy. Individuals that are responsible for this current crisis should be dealt with and those that are found to have looted their companies and those that still are should have their personal wealth confiscated to help invigorate the real economy. I’m sure this won’t happen because of the people in power now and this would be a proper redistriibution of wealth from the looting uberconnected like Hank Paulson, et.al. to the much more strictly regulated and taxed small businesses that really create jobs. I believe that any company getting bailout money be run just like any small business and everyone takes a haircut to keep it going and if noone is willing to do that then just let it go.
Then there is the BS about needing to keep top talent by giving these bonuses. What crap. Does anybody real swallow this crap? I hope not. With the real unemployment at 12-15%, there is plenty of talent around , especially the type that can ruin a company like they did. I don’t know about the rest of you that are informed and can think on their own, but I am just livid about this whole mess and the people in charge. It is all outrageous and something needs to be done soon.
That’s all I have to say right now but could go on and on. It really is simple everyone. We need to save the real economy and it may take a revolution to do it as it seems that our congress is totally inept or bought off or both, except Ron Paul and a few others. I know on the surface some of these AIG bonuses may appear a tad excessive or undeserved, but, you have to realize that in order for companies to prosper again, they have to keep the talent or the organization will really fail. What can we the people do, in a legal and non- violent way, to just have a voice with our government? I am not talking about writing to our senators, etc, I am talking about actually being a part of these things like the bail outs and have a say about what we, the people want.

We are going to have to pay for all of this, and we are supposed to just sit back while these crooks are taking all this bonus money? Plus, the way banks work, do you really believe that they even need all this bail out money?

I don’t get it. For example, the banks charge a lot of interest if your borrow money, but when you save you are lucky to get just 2%! Then there are all those fees they charge, like 30.00 for an overdraft, and 50.00 for a box of blank checks. Give me a break! What do they actually do to earn that money? What kind of work does it take to clear a bounced check anyway? What a bunch of crap, and they tell us they have to be bailed out? if they can’t make money with the way they are running things then they should go out of business. Let us not forget the huge amount of interest they charge on credit cards, PLUS all the fees on credit cards, but these guys can’t make any money and need to be bailed out.

I think Alex should make a movie about how much money banks really make. Plus, so what if the banks are sitting there with a bunch of empty homes, they still made out. They got the down payment, they got all the payments the people made, they got all the closing costs….and in the end they GET THE HOUSE TOO! Anyone who ever sold a home on land contract and then had the buyer default is not unhappy! They can then re-sell that house and start all over again making a profit. In fact, I think this was the bankers intention in the first place, but the problem was that too many of them tried to do it at once and we got the foreclosrure crisis.

I saw the bonus for bankers story break on CNN, and Obama said he was very angry over this and wanted to prevent the bonus checks from going out. My goodness, I hope he can do that, because this banker bail out is turning into a 3 ring circus.

It is so unfair that these bankers are getting millions of dollars while millions of people nationwide stand in unemployment lines. And why are they standing there? Because those bankers we are bailing out were doing a really shitty job, and now they are going to get a bonus for all that crappy work they did?

We should start taking that bailout money and sending it to poor people nationwide. Make it mandatory to spend that money on something like making their homes energy friendly. Like solar water heaters and heat, or putting up windmills, all kinds of things that could make America get away from foreign oil. Just think of all the green jobs we could create! Think of all the millions of Americans who could have a job again….plus we would be helping poor people have a better lifestyle. I don’t know about you, but being warm in the winter and cool in the summer is a basic human right that we could make possible for everyone, dirt cheap, across this country. Just think of all the old and poor people who swelter in the summer heat and are cold all winter…we can change that.

We should make America the number one green job creator on earth! We got out of the great depression by being the number one manufacteror on earth, and we can do this again. But we are not going to do it by giving all our money away to greedy bankers who probably have a lot more money than they are letting us know about anyway. I don’t trust them at all, and this latest story just proves that these bankers are out to get as much as they can for their greedy selves.

I don’t believe it that the bankers need to be bailed out in the first place!

No, don’t kill them, instead they should have to work at a minimum hour wage and then have a good chunk of their checks go for paying the bail outs. When they get sick they should have to pay for their own health care out of their minimum wage job check.

This is the world our grandchildren and great grandchildren will be inheriting because of all the banker bailouts.

I say we all claim the max. deductions on our paychecks and then for 09 we don’t file. I bet the Fed will wake up then!

We can protest in a non violent way. It’s called using the system they created. Claim the max. amount of deductions on your W4 from your employer. 2nd, do not file a tax return in 09. This will crumble them if we get more than 50 % on board. It’s up to us. If you really want to do something lets do it. Quit talking and take action. Everyone wants to hide behind email. No wonder they are doing what they will with us. We have become slaves with no voice.
