Americans Expecting No Resolution in Afghanistan

Sixty-eight percent of the respondents said the United States will not win or lose the war which will go on without resolution, Clarus said.
Sixty-one percent of Democrats want to reduce the number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan, while 17 percent want to send in additional troops. Fifty-four percent of Republicans and 47 percent of independents are in favor of sending in more troops.

You can’t conquer a nation that does not exist. Afghanistan isn’t a nation. It is a geographic area that is basically territories that the surrounding nations didn’t want or couldn’t govern. The peoples aren’t unified, they are tribal. This war is definitely nothing more than flushing toilet for lives and treasure…..and a wonderful place to produce opiates, of course.

Afghanistan/ Pakistan will be the last military action America engages in. America will fall apart while fighting in Afghanistan, just like Russia did. Every military action starting with Iraq is a deliberate exercise to waste and exhaust American resources. Every American should be as vocal about getting out troops out of Afghanistan as they were on getting them out of Iraq. But the empty promise to get them out during the last presidential campaign is buried along with the men that continue to needlessly die in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Afghani Opium is processed to make 90% of the world’s STREET HEROIN.
The Taliban almost completely shut down the production in early 2001 (because it’s un-Islamic) – a simply ASTOUNDING feat.
And THAT is why THEY “had to” invade that country, (to RE-OPEN THE PRODUCTION).

The problem here is that the US should have turned Afghanistan into Afghan Gardens theme park back in 2001. We should have leveled it, bulldozed it, then built it up into big water slides and ski resorts in the winter so every Pakistani could have a job. What stopped us from doing that is beyond me! When you go to war, you must have the testicular fortitude to demoralize your enemy into not fighting. This is where Rockefeller, er, W. fucked up! He wanted the perpetual war instead of the camel flume water ride.

no, the mission-creep went like this:
1) Al Qaeda attacked America and America invokes NATO Article 5, so all members must defend America
2) Afghanistan is harboring CIA agent bin Laden, the Taleban is the govt in Afghanistan
3) CIA agent bin Laden got away, but large elements of the Taleban remain in control of the countryside
4) Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq become subsumed under abstract “War on Terror” and Afghan theater is a win-or-lose-the-fake-war battle
5) fragile democracy and nation-building excuses
6) economic argumetns used against withdrawal: if we leave, the Taleban will regain their revenues from opium fields etc. The US goes from hunting CIA agent bin Laden to cultivating flowers for the CIA.

As the time goes on , people of america have everyday less and less freedom due to politics conducted by federal power. Also , as a consequence of the economic crisis , more and more of them have lost their job and home. But the crisis is not finished , and in near future the consequences could be catastrophic. Keep in mind that any change can not come from the federal government , but only the people , the only source of any future chagement. If a majority of them think a change is possible , so it can be. A way to preserve freedom , ideals , welfare of people is federalism must come to an end. People will have to make a choise , federalism versus freedom , ideals , welfare… . The first could lead to the establishment of a martial law. A state as texas is ready to cross the line , it could be an example for the others. People could put under pressure every state government in the aim to declare secession , the american constitution allow such a decision. Such an aim can’t be aimed without any precaution , as it is evident the federal power is not ready to yield or abdicate. Probably , this one will use force to submit people , but constitution give garantees on firearms. people can put up a fight against the oppressive federal power if a political issue according to the will of people can not be lead. People have to make his will respect , otherwise it will be an opressed people. Saying that federalism must come to an end mean it must be break down , it appears to be the only way to preserve people. America can be easily imagined without federalism and preserved.
