“Public opinion will be led to adopt, without knowing it, the proposals that we dare not present to them directly . . . All the earlier proposals will be in the new text, but will be hidden and disguised in some way.” V.Giscard D’Estaing*, Le Monde, June 14, 2007

Irish voters delivered a knockout punch to European elites and corporatists last Friday by rejecting plans for an EU Superstate.

The so-called Lisbon Treaty was nothing more than a dolled-up version of the failed European Constitution that was defeated by French and Dutch voters in 2005. The treaty was loaded with the typical "democratic" gobbledygook to conceal the vicious neoliberal policies at its heart. If it had passed, the treaty would have paved the way for greater privatization of public services, diminished workers rights, less state control over trade policies and civil liberties, and an aggressive plan to militarize Europe.

Ireland’s entire political and corporate class stood solidly behind the treaty, but the Irish people shrugged off the fear-mongering and bogus promises of prosperity and voted No. The referendum results showed 53.4 percent voted No, while 46.6 percent voted Yes. Despite the massive public relations campaign; the vote was not even that close.

A spokesperson for the No campaign put it like this: “The Irish people have spoken. Contrary to the predictions of social and political turmoil, we believe that hundreds of millions of people across Europe will welcome the rejection of the Lisbon Treaty. This vote shows the gulf that exists between the politicians and the elites of Europe, and the opinions of the people. As in France and the Netherlands, the political leaders and the establishment have done everything they could to push this through – and they have failed. The proposals to further reduce democracy, to militarize the EU and to let private business take over public services have been rejected. Lisbon is dead. Along with the EU Constitution from which it came, it should now be buried.” [Socialist Worker online]

Europe’s political class tried to ratify the treaty via a stealth campaign which intentionally obscured the implications of the new regime that would be put in place. Former Irish Taoiseach, Dr Garret FitzGerald*, summed it up like this in the Irish Times on June 30, 2007: ”The most striklng change [between the EU Constitution in its older and newer version] is perhaps that in order to enable some governments to reassure their electorates that the changes will have no constitutional implications, the idea of a new and simpler treaty containing all the provisions governing the Union has now been dropped in favour of a huge series of individual amendments to two existing treaties. Virtual incomprehensibilty has thus replaced simplicity as the key approach to EU reform. As for the changes now proposed to be made to the constitutional treaty, most are presentational changes that have no practical effect. They have simply been designed to enable certain heads of government to sell to their people the idea of ratification by parliamentary action rather than by referendum.”

Hmmm. In other words, European policymakers figured the only way they could pass the pro-business treaty was to make it as unreadable as possible. It’s no wonder, too. According to multiple sources, the treaty contains language that would restore the death penalty and override national decision making on critical issues. So much for sovereignty!

The observations of blogger Paul from Dublin seemed to epitomize the feelings of a great number of people who expressed deep suspicions over the agenda behind the treaty: "I am also deeply concerned at the direction the EU is going. Whereas it seemed originally to be an idealistic and benevolent project for Europe, accentuating all that was best about Europe, in recent times it seems to have fallen into the hands of the globalist gangster capitalist cabal of neo-liberals, following the US philosophy of every man for himself, and the devil take the hindmost.

"I also discovered some very sinister organisations none of which the mainstream media informed us about. Organisations such as the Transatlantic Economic Council, the Transatlantic Policy Network & the Streit Council which seeks a union between the US and Europe, and whose agenda is clearly a political as well as an economic union. In the fall 2007 journal of that body, a world bank economist said that you could not have economic integration without political integration."

Whether Paul is right to be skeptical or not is beside the point. The truth is that many Europeans think that the EU no longer operates in the best interests of the people. Clearly, this had a dramatic affect on the election’s results.

News of the defeat has not been well received in England where the neoliberal government of Gordon Brown has already indicated that it will reject the election results and "press ahead" in an effort to ratify the treaty. Neither Brown nor his friends in Brussels are likely to be deterred by anything as trivial as the will of the people. Labour MP and former Europe Minister Denis MacShane summed it up like this: "I personally think that a vote in a foreign country should not determine the democratic decisions taken in the British Parliament."

MacShane’s view is apparently shared by EC President Jose Manuel Barroso who said that EU member states should continue ratifying the Lisbon treaty, even though more than half of Ireland’s 43 constituencies rejected it outright. So much for democracy.

Also, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel issued a joint statement Friday saying they hoped the remaining countries would continue the ratification process: "We are convinced that the reforms contained in the treaty of Lisbon are necessary to make Europe more democratic and more efficient."

The No vote makes matters particularly difficult for Sarkozy who is scheduled to take over the EU’s rotating presidency next month and was hoping to beef up Europe’s military capability while making big changes to the EU’s immigration policies. The failed referendum will derail the French president’s plans to play a bigger role in the war on terror or to help out in security operations in Afghanistan, Africa or Asia. In the final analysis, the No vote will hurt Washington as much as Euro-elites who were hoping for a blank check for more "free market" looting and foreign adventurism.

    BRUSSELS PLAN: "Quarantine the Irish"

According to the UK Guardian: "Germany and France moved to isolate Ireland in the European Union yesterday, scrambling for ways to resuscitate the Lisbon Treaty a day after the Irish dealt the architects of the EU’s new regime a crushing blow.Refusing to take Ireland’s ‘no’ for an answer, politicians in Berlin and Paris prepared for a crucial EU summit in Brussels this week by trying to ringfence the Irish while demanding that the treaty be ratified by the rest of the EU.

The Franco-German plan is to get all 27 EU states to ratify the treaty as soon as possible, to quarantine the Irish and then come up with some legal maneuver enabling the treaty to go ahead.

‘We’re sticking firmly to our goal of putting this treaty into effect,’ said the German foreign minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier. ‘So the process of ratification must continue.’

Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, who devoted most of last year to getting the EU’s members to agree on the Lisbon Treaty after the failure of the EU’s proposed new constitution in 2005, said: ‘We must carry on.’" (EU tries to isolate Irish after Treaty rejection, UK Guardian)

    THE LUCK OF THE IRISH

The Irish have plenty to celebrate today. They’ve thrown a spanner in the plans of the bankers and corporate mandarins who want to replace representative government and national sovereignty with their own skewed vision of Capitalist Valhalla; a Euro-Utopia where short-term profits always take priority over the needs of ordinary people.

    Bravo, Ireland.

      That’s Awesome

    2. Mike Says:

This is only a minor setback for the NWO unfortunately. Once there is a crisis big enough and the right person steps forward to lead, the people will beg to have the NWO come and save them.

    3. Thomas Jefferson Says:

Please be reasonable and understand! GOD BLESS IRELAND!!!!!!!!!! We need you!!!!

    4. Delphi Says:

This is far from over but its good to know the Irish are still alive and fighting the good fight. This will come around again and likely with more force. I would be looking for the hegelian dialectic to factor in as they will need to get this through no matter what. Temporary victory, but bravo nonetheless.

The Isish are very strong people and i love them, they have been ostreszieded in America and in other countries ,but their vigilence will prevail and theynnow what’s going on with the New World Order.
God bless the Irish, i would fight for you as an American.

      love,David Golden

    6. Bob in Maine Says:

My Great Grandfather, Richard McCartan, came to the USA in 1882 along with his brother and young sister (John and Mary Ann). They went to Kansas and worked a 160 acre farm under the Homestead Act. Things got tough and when Richard heard that his family back home in Northern Ireland were being killed, he returned with his kids and wife – to kill oppressive British soldiers – and he did.

Ten years later he returned to the docks of NYC (where he earlier worked), only to be given a uniform and gun, and the priviledge to be a Rough Rider in the Spanish American fiasco in Cuba. He didn’t care. He just got done killing British soldiers for ten years. A few more soldiers didn’t matter a fart to him. The Irish are tough, loyal and to the point. Never underestimate them.

How many Irish families came here twice? The point is that the Irish have never been stupid, and like a rhinoceros, will never succumb to monkey training – falsehood and tyranny. NWO take a hike – and don’t bugger with Ireland. The Romans left it alone for a good reason!!!!!

    7. Eric Says:

I’m part Irish and God bless. Don’t mess with the Irish NWO! They’ve got more guts than most people in the South.

    8. Mogopost Says:

Thank God Ireland was Herself on June 12th.

    9. Justin Says:

Oh thank god… I mean, really… this is fantastic news. This really is. Those poor Irish people have been under the knife of the Illuminati for centuries! When will they finally be free from the Illuminati’s Tyranny?! This Agenda has been in the works for thousands of years and finally people are able to say NO. But ya know what? They’ve probably got something up their sleeve that will come up in the near future to get the DEATH GRIP on Ireland and every other country they have their eyes set on.

Is Ireland ever going to get their own currency back?

I was thinking of moving there with my girlfriend last year. She’s a nurse and would be hired on the spot and given citizenship and since I am joe-blow from USA, I dont even need a VISA to visit or live there! But then I heard about the currency and mass immigration moving INTO Ireland – it sounds just like California, Texas, Arizona, etc with Mexican immigrants.

I hope this country gets free from the Illuminati and the REST of us, too! This is a big step in the right direction!

    10. Stan Says:

The people of Ireland who voted against the Lisbon Treaty deserve a round of applause.

    11. Anne of Pennsylvania Says:

May God continue to hold you in the palm of his hands Ireland!!! Keep your nose to the wind and your ears to the ground though…as I’m sure you already know, THEY don’t like to lose. The wheels are already spinning for a second attact I’m sure. You need to get the word out to the rest of Europe, even the nations who have already radified the treaty, tell them what it REALLY IS and tell them you can help them to reverse it.

God Bless and be with you all, I’ll keep you in my prayers.

      Long live Ireland!

      Is the Kennedys from Ireland?

If yes, lets put another Kennedy in office….

I take that back, too many kennedys already got murdered. No need to put the kennedys through another tragic death, when JFKjr were murdered, so Mrs. DykeClinton could be senator of New York. At least there are other irish bloods to stand up against the NWO.

      Anyways, Long live Ireland!!!!

    16. pcmiler2000 Says:

      I hope not Mike!!!!

      Oh, i wish im irish!!!

      Bravo to the Irish peoples!!!!!

    17. Luc Says:

I would like to applaud and thank the Irish!
You are the voice of all of us in other countries who have been silenced by their governments.

I’m Dutch myself and rejected the constitution back in 2005, it’s a shame our so-called leaders have stopped being democratic about stuff like this and instead just shove it down our throats.

Last time I checked democracy still meant ‘rule by the PEOPLE’, from which one can conclude we don’t live in a democracy and we better start waking up fast to what’s really going on!

    18. Jay from Canada Says:

      Irish I were drunk

    19. Chris Says:

I would like to thank everyone for their kind comments about Ireland and its people. I firmly believe that if given the opportunity the vast majority of europe would vote no (as France and Holland did previously). I do wish that Brian Cowen (irish head of government) would stand up and say that we voted No and that the EU constitution/lisbon treaty should be scrapped. However he is over in europe apologising on our behalf and all of the governments, ireland included are pressing on regardless. I cant believe how the no vote is being snubbed.
On a more positive note the Czech republic may not ratify the treaty either.
Czech president Vaclav Klaus, who is supported by the country’s largest political party, called the Irish referendum vote a “victory of freedom and reason” and said “ratification cannot continue”.
Check out this link for a latest update but mostly to check out the picture of my local mep Kathy Sinott in brussels yesterday. She is a true hero for the cause. you may remember her from the end of nations video that was posted here previously.

    20. William Says:

They’re coming back next year with another referendum for the Irish on this treaty. This is the feeling in Fianna Fail, that they are following precedent, that cosmetic changes will be made to the existing treaty to make it seem like a better deal while a new generation of electronic voting machines will be put in place in a number of constituencies to ensure the desired outcome in favour of the treaty next time sometime in 2009. They did the exact same thing when NICE was rejected by the Irish at the ballot box in 2001; in 2002 they put NICE TWO to the people and installed electronic voting machines in seven constituencies ensuring a two to one majority for the government by fraud and pre-programmed vote rigging of the electronic voting machines. The government voting fraud was so obvious back then that the actual result of the “ballot”was even announced on national tv ( disguised as an opinion poll), the day before the disenfranchised Irish went out to cast their votes on these machines.
These electronic voting machines were decommissioned and were not in use in the Lisbon vote and the government’s ballot box stuffing in Dublin was not nearly enough to overturn a hundred thousand anti treaty majority this time out. But have no illusions the government will want these machines back for the new Lisbon vote. The Irish must use petitions and any other means to their local and national corporate criminal elite making it clear that they do not want these vote fraud machines. We have bought time. We have our freedom for the next twelve to eighteen months before they come back with Lisbon Two but then unless we stop their plans for electronic voting machines we will face the global tyranny of one world government.

    21. wood fired future Says:

Expect more countries to contest and then leave the EU until there are only 10 left, 10 that were part of the old roman empire. Read Rev 13:1 and Dan 7:20-24.

    22. William Says:

Kathy Sinnott, the Munster MEP on the No side needs to demand that the government stop acting like dictators and halt the Lisbon ratification process.

    23. IveMetAfew... Says:

If I know the Irish proletariats it will end with something along the lines of…

“Now don’t be sad, cause two out of three ain’t bad…”.

    24. mike e. dangerously Says:

more power to the Irish people they saw the treaty for what it was and told the EU overlords to go back to hell.

    25. Michael McDonnough Says:

This is one of those times that I am most glad to be one of those hard headed Irishmen. Bravo for Ireland.

This reminds me of the movie Braveheart where the king of England sends in the Irish and the Irish decide they are not fighting for the king but instead join the Scotts in rebellion. You just can’t count on us Irish to do the bidding of the elite no matter how our noble leaders try and sell us out.

    27. m'tish Says:

Unfortunately they are going to repeat this referendum as long as the outcome is not what they want. I don’t know if you noticed but all over the mainstream media journalists as well as politicians say that this is “A PROBLEM” with which “WE HAVE TO DEAL WITH”. No one sees this as a signal that people, when given true choice reject the new European project. If this system was democratic the choice of the Irish would be accepted… apparently it isn’t.

      Regards from Poland.

    28. KATHERINE Says:

I totally agree with M’tish’s comment on how mainstream media reports are stacked up against the Irish. What’s worse is that the mainstream-media-spoon-fed general public doesn’t appear to want to find out what the Lisbon Treaty is all about anyway, and more importantly, why the Irish have rejected it. People then carry on listening to/reading the “news” as if they knew!

    29. The Noble Lie Says:

m’tish, that’s one thing I hate the most about politicians and bureaucrats.

They don’t see it as, I guess the people don’t want this. They see it as, we haven’t done a good enough job explaining to them why they need it yet, so we will spend more public money on media blitzes and lawyers to write obfuscating language and try again.

    30. WeNeedTruth Says:

Yeay! Those mighty fighting Irish are to be admired. They should be emulated and celebrated.

Why can’t Americans have the sense enough to say………….NO?

    32. Henry VIII Says:

I live in England, and belive me, all the people in this country is against that “treaty”.
the only problem is that we now have a prime minister that nobody voted for, and what he is doing should be concidered a crime….
our goverment promised us a vote on the matter, but after checking the “pulse” of the people they discovered that the people was against it…. they then revoked the promise and said that importand decisions about the country should not lie in the hands of the people, but their goverment….
      thank God for democrazy….

    33. wake up AMERICA!!!! Says:

Why do you think they call em the fighting Irish?!!!! CONGRATS IRELAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    34. Michael Says:

A great day for Ireland and democracy and a black one for the so called”elite ” from Brusselles.
The masonic conspiracy failed again. We heard that before: One world, one government(elected by nobody)one religion and B.S. like that. My question is why don’t we throw out of office all these scumbags called Brusselles politicians straight to the jail? Not only that, we should strip them of retirement and ask in a court of law to retrieve the money for their salaries for the past time since they got all the privileges. Great day for Ireland and Czech Republic President Vaclav Klaus.
      (So far).

    35. Rick78x Says:

energymonger ——— because Americans have no sense. They say America’s the most advanced nation on earth. Yeah. Advanced in greed, consumerism, materialism, entertainment (one of the most popular complaints among our youth is, ‘They’re bored.’), which is actually addiction to being entertained, as opposed to being creative. Did I forget to mention our new God, called, the almighty dollar? (which is quickly dying a horrible death). We’re obsessed in pursuing that paper to the point where most of us would do almost anything to get it. We have been indoctrinated into thinking we are the best in the world, when the truth is we are the worst. The real tragedy is we are slaves who THINK we are free, and that is the main reason we are not fighting now for freedom, because we already think we have it. We are in for a rude awakening. I just hope it won’t be too late, or like a sleepwalker, hurt ourselves once we realize we reached our destination all while we were asleep.

    36. Marie Says:

Yes, Bravo to the Irish…..Be not afraid…..Good vs Evil

Prayer does work and in America vote for Ron Paul to be President and it will happen….
