Sarnoff Corporation today announced it has been awarded a contract from the U.S. Army Research Laboratory to develop and demonstrate a high speed biometric capture technology solution for iris-based identification. The system will be designed to be ruggedized for field use and quickly deployable.
The new iris recognition system will leverage Sarnoff’s patent-pending Iris on the Move(R) (IOM) technology for fast and reliable identification. IOM is a proven biometric identification system that quickly captures the iris image of a person in motion. The technology is ideally suited for force protection, civil-military operations, and combat situations.
Other iris scanning technologies require users to stop, line up their eye properly, and stare directly into a scanner for a period of time. IOM technology verifies identities at speeds of up to thirty people per minute, allowing subjects to walk through the system at a standard pace, without stopping. In addition, Sarnoff’s design will automatically adjust for subjects’ height without slowing throughput.
"Current biometric ID systems take too long to identify people in high traffic areas and cause long lines to form at checkpoints," said Dr. Don Newsome, President and CEO of Sarnoff Corporation. "This is inconvenient and poses a security risk. The IOM technology makes it easy to set up iris scanning checkpoints that are as reliable as other biometric-based options but quick enough to keep lines moving rapidly."
The IOM system delivers accurate identification regardless of whether the subject is wearing prescription glasses, most sunglasses, or contact lenses. In addition, IOM technology can capture iris images from farther distances than any other commercial iris scanning technology.
Sarnoff has delivered IOM technology to several secure government facilities and private corporations. The technology can be used for a broader range of applications including banking ID verification, border crossing initiatives, event security, payment systems, and employee access.

This crap never ends…
And why do we always end up with so many nutjobs leaving comments like Gary below? All the nutters appear to flock to this serious material like flies on sh*t. Can’t you nutters just go take your meds and shut the f up?

To #3, I agree.
Apparently, Gary is God’s 2nd Son.
So, Gary, how’s Jesus doin’? Haven’t talked to Him in a while. You guys still sharing that back bedroom with the bunkbeds? And how is Ol’ Uncle Lucifer?
Gary is forgetting that the Hebrews demanded the death of Jesus Christ… and now look at how the Israelite Nation has prospered. Therefore, if Gary wishes the USA to NOT prosper, then he should be nice and patriotic and PC… otherwise, we will have to trade him for Barabus and then — well, you know what’s next.
BTW #3, you have a NUTJOB name for your postings.

In my own personal view
How would that computer know IRIS information data from people born before the system came out ?
September 23rd, 2008 at 9:56 am
To #7 – the system can be used to start scanning everyone and build a database. If your question is whether just the newborns will be scanned, I don’t know why you think it will be limited to that only. Nothing prevents the system to be set up in such a way as to scan the entire population.
September 23rd, 2008 at 10:56 am
concerning, especially if mandatory at local DMVs. DMVs do seem to be the start of all database profiling, since every person who drives requires automotive license renewals annually.

More big brother/big daddy tech to scan and track and trace our every moves, that are not neccessary. Pretty soon there will be giant telescreens too, which will also not be needed or neccessary.

Making us all take a test without our direct permission!
It adds up to a preconcieved plan to destroy the ecomonic and sociel independence of the united states.

Not sure where you tweo live, but in good ole’ freedom lovin’ Texas we have biometric eye scans and electronic fingerprint scans to renew our driver’s license. The Real ID was just them finally “formalizing” the whole matter, as this has been done for years (in Texas). So, there you go, that’s how they get our information.
Of course, the (newer) airposrt scanners being put in at DFW and other major airports right now (or already installed) scan your whole body, and I’m pretty sure they get your eyes too. So, there’s no problem getting ALL of us who have to work within the system, which means pretty much the whole US population.
I’d like to get together with some “truther” optometrists and try to come up with a contact lens that breaks up the light pattern in the scanners, sort of like the “photo blocker” spray that is advertised on GCN. Anybody got any ideas on that? Thanks!

Very “interesting” that InfoWars would use Minority Report starring Tom Cruise. I watched the remake of War of the Worlds starring Tom Cruise a couple of weeks ago. “It”’s all connected. This will happen (Minority Report) after the elite suck the life (War of the Worlds) out of …% of the population. It’s not going to pretty…

Hi systems of computer data like this seems to risky and way to much money to make systems this super smart. .
This would cost so much money to make .
The united states would be better off to just forget this idea and stay with smart math and solid facts from human minds, clear and healthy
September 23rd, 2008 at 12:12 pm
willhahn, I am sure if you developed some kind of contact lense that reflected bright light, or if either dark just over your pupil, maybe you can get by.
September 23rd, 2008 at 12:29 pm
willhahn, I’ve never seen any type of eye scanning technology in Texas. I’m in Austin, and yes, they do have fingerprint scanning for drivers licenses, but where are these eye scanners in Texas?
Not saying they aren’t here, I’ve just never seen them. Thank.s

If anybody ever tries to scan my eyes without my consent I’ll knock them the fuck out.
September 23rd, 2008 at 1:04 pm
Maybe the sunglasses it can’t see thru have a mirror reflective coating, although the article said it works with most sunglasses and there are lots of mirrored lenses on the market, for now anyway.
September 23rd, 2008 at 1:51 pm
I wonder if those fake colored eye contacts and sunglasses would keep it from working.
September 23rd, 2008 at 3:51 pm
I gonna buy a pair of red contacts – gonna scare the shit out of da boys as well – “rage infected uchikoma”

This system is already in use.. Maybe not to the “measure while walking by” stage..
I have a freind who just retired from the Navy. He returned from Afghanistan last may after a 6 month tour. His job. Taking iris scns of Afghanistani people of the area he was in. They came forward willingly. SOme for access to contracts for the military.. others because their tribal leaders told them it was required.
The purpose.. data bank building to identify future people for acts of terorism. I seriously doubt the Afghans new the concept or the mechanism.
My buddy thought it was an excellent idea.. Although we get along on most things..his basic concept is “You don’t have anything to worry about if you don’t do anything wrong..”
I expect he will end up regretting his words some day.
Movie? Minority report? Fiction a few years ago.. reality soon?
Will you register? At some point you will be forced to do one of a couple things.. have someone else do business for you to avoid it. A drivers license? Hospital/Medical care? There are endless ways..
Maybe as simple as placing your eye to a scanner to buy gasoline or pay a bill..if there are no other ways than using YOUR EYE …. We have been forced “willingly” to do many things we said we won’t do… The question remains.. WHne will we stop? And how?
And guess what future toys come with such a program?
Will this too become a reality. I used to think agaisnt such ideas..But obviously some are all for it.. Iris scanning is just one. Combine this futuristic(?) weapon… Note they are selling it only tobe used against an “enemy”… The “bug” will just do what it is programmed to do.
Interesting article:
http://www.officialdisclosure.com/mav.htm
“The first armada of tiny flying death machines will be the size of small birds and will be able to operate several days without recharging. On the heels of these lethal mini-drones, bug-sized swarms of GPS-guided soldiers will flitter, slither and creep into enemy war zones to spy, provide real-time intelligence reporting, and, when ordered to do so, kill adversaries. ”
Consider these scenarios from the Popular Mechanics report:
* Some military strategists envision swarms of robot flies fluttering onto battlefields. Scout flies, equipped with miniature cameras, would do the work of reconnaissance teams by eavesdropping on tactical communications and sending back real-time videos of enemy positions. Sniper flies would seek out field commanders, recognizing them by the iris patterns of their eyes….Then, they would become the 21st century incarnation of the tribesman’s poison dart as they hurled themselves into the carotid arteries of their targets.
This may be on the drawing board now.. but in your life soon.
If a human mind can concieve such ideas.. someone is saying “How can we make one?” and money gets it done.
September 24th, 2008 at 1:56 pm
And as far as registering the children.. School always complies with Federal and State regulations.. If they don’t.. money gets cut off.

I have to agree with A CAll TO ARMS .
People have become so dysfunctional through social engineering.
The original revolution was organized and initiated by “word of mouth”.. and a group of people who belived in a cause worthy of death.
Those people are hard to find anymore… assuming some still exist. We have become a society of everyone waiting on someone else.. and if a group could get organized..I have little doubt one person would sell the group out for their status as a “hero”… and the GVT would hold this person up for all “good citizens” to see and be an example of..
Nah.. this will ne eternal slavery in increments for most, a few will continue to stay under the radar as best they can..but eventually all will submit ot die..naturally at the present rate.
The last Revolution was a good lesson for powers that want to control people.. You cannot let them be free..Only allow them some freedoms..enough for them to THINK they are free… But never give up control at any price.
