Arrests by Border Patrol agents in the large Tucson Sector are down slightly compared to last year, according to figures shared Thursday at a meeting of the Green Valley Council.
Agents made 120,000 arrests in the fiscal year ending Sept. 30 compared to 123,000 for the previous year, said Patrol Agent in Charge Roger San Martin of the U.S. Border Patrol’s Tucson Station.

“That sounds like a lot,” he said, but noted that five years ago arrests were between 400,000 and 500,000 a year.
