| Missouri Offering Gun Safety Kits The Kanasas Channel | August 20, 2005 Missouri Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder joined forces with police and gun safety advocates Friday night to discuss gun safety issues. They said accidents involving kids and guns is down 60 percent, but said more work needs to be done. "There are more than 240 million guns in America," said gun safety advocate Shari LeGate. "Forty million Americans are involved in recreational shooting sports, but today, the message we want to get out is this: Safety is the key component for anyone owning a firearm."
