In response to the illegal CIA "Rendition" flights entering and leaving Gatwick Airport in the UK a group has been formed. The Committee Against Criminal Renditions, based in Brighton, East Sussex.

Our first task has been to serve legally binding letters to the Chief Constable of the Sussex Police force and to the Sussex Police Authority.

The letters give the Sussex Police Force and Police Authority 28 days to investigate claims that the Sussex Police force were complicit in allowing the CIA "Rendition" flights to enter and leave Gatwick airport.

A team of film makers and a photo journalist covered the delivery of these letters to the Sussex Police Headquarters and the Sussex Police Authority in the County Hall at Lewes, East Sussex. A press release was also sent to the "Independent" and "Argos" (Brighton Local paper) newspapers.

So far none of the newspapers have published a story on this event.

These letters are significant, as they oblige the Sussex Police to investigate the claims of complicity with the illegal "Rendition" flights. Attached to the letters is an example Port Authority form which must be filled in by any flight entering or leaving the UK under schedule 7 of the 2000 anti terrorist laws in the UK. This means that the crew of the CIA flights would have had to file a Port Authority form explaining who they were, why they were here and where they were going to go. The existence of these forms would contradict comments by Jack Straw and Tony Blair this week who both declared there was no evidence that these "Rendition" flights have been operating out of the UK.

If the Sussex Police and Police Authority do not supply a satisfactory answer by 9th Jan 2006 a full legal enquiry by the Independent Police Complaints Commission will take place. Blowing this story fully open into the public arena. This case will also show that Straw and Blair have been economical with the truth over their claims their was no evidence of these "Rendition" flights in the UK.

The Committee Against Criminal Renditions would like you to broadcast our short film about this matter on your websites to help create public awareness about this impending case. As the story has clearly been spiked by the British media.
