KABUL, Afghanistan -- A U.S. Coalition soldier was killed and four others were injured by a land mine near Shindand, Afghanistan, officials said Wednesday.
In a statement issued in Kabul, the Combined Forces Command said the incident occurred Tuesday but gave no further details.
Among the four injured, one soldier sustained a severe back injury, one is currently in stable condition and two were treated and returned to duty.
The five soldiers are members of Task Force Peacekeeper, a U.S. military police element in Combined Joint Task Force 76.
The name of the dead soldier is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, the statement said.
