SADDAM'S FAMILY SACKS LAWYERS
New York Post | August 9, 2005
AMMAN, Jordan — Saddam Hussein's family scrapped the international team of attorneys claiming to be representing him yesterday and will pick a new set of heavyweight lawyers to defend him against war-crimes charges, the family's legal adviser said.
"There are too many people in the world who are claiming they are defending the president without the family's knowledge," said Abdel Haq Alani, legal consultant to Raghd, Saddam's eldest daughter, who is authorized to act on behalf of the ousted leader. He said Saddam's family had chosen Iraqi lawyer Khalil Dulaimi as the "only authorized lawyer at this moment."
