Wasn't Ann Coulter Stoned On Hannity & Colmes?

News Hounds | October 26 2006

During her appearance on Hannity & Colmes last night (10/25/06), Ann Coulter slurred her words, stumbled over her words and then became inappropriately giddy and nonsensical at the end. This is not the first time Coulter has seemed high during a Hannity & Colmes appearance. Watch the video and decide for yourself.

The discussion was about campaign ads, with a focus on the Santorum and Menendez races in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, respectively. Alan Colmes asked Coulter about a Santorum ad in which actors portrayed men under investigation who, the ad claimed, gave money to Santorum's opponent, Bob Casey. Colmes said that it turned out none of them had given money to Casey but two had given money to Santorum. Colmes added, “(Santorum) has consistently run dishonest and false ads during this campaign. Perhaps that's why, the public being as smart as it is, he's so far behind and standing to lose the election.”

There was a long pause before Coulter responded. When she did, she gave a fumbling answer that referred to the wrong race. “Um, that's the first I've heard that the people (pause) Menendez had accepted money from, hadn't given money to Menendez. I guess you'd better bring on Kean to respond to that one cause I never heard that one before. And I think it's perfectly appropriate to have actors playing people.”

"You came on to talk about these ads," Colmes said.

She managed to pull herself together and speak more coherently during Hannity's portion of the interview, although her speech remained fumbling and slurred. But at the end, Colmes said, “When Nancy Reagan campaigns for stem cell research, thankfully…”

Like a drunk at a party, Coulter giggled as she interrupted. “She's on YOUR side on that.” In a squeaky voice, she added what she obviously thought was a hilarious joke – except that it made no sense. “Yes, we do. I did. In my book.”

Colmes sounded like a bartender with a drunk customer. “You did, well good for you.”
