Patriot Plan 3
Capital News 9 | June 2, 2005
The State Legislature is close to approving a bill extending benefits to the families of soldiers killed while on active duty.
The bill is called Patriot Plan 3. The measure was up for final legislative approval in the Senate Wednesday. Under the measure, if a public employee is killed in combat their family will receive the same health insurance and other survivors' benefits they would get if the person died on his or her job as a state employee.
The first two parts of the Patriot Plan have provided troops with many benefits including tax breaks and supplemental pay.
