Taser International Propaganda: New Zogby International Poll Shows Three-in-Four Americans Support Use of TASER(TM) Devices
76% Say Police TASERs Make Communities Safer

PR Newswire | March 9, 2005

Three-in-Five (61%) Support Citizen Ownership for Self-Defense

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., March 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq: TASR -News ), a market leader in advanced non-lethal devices, today announced that a recent Zogby International poll demonstrated that three-in-four (77%) likely voters say they support the continued police use of TASERs while just 17% oppose continued use, a greater than four to one margin of support. Nearly half (44%) say they strongly support police use of the non-lethal weapons. The same survey also finds three-fourths (76%) of respondents believe police use of TASERs makes their communities safer. The telephone survey of 1,010 likely voters was conducted from February 25 to 27, 2005, and has a margin of error of +/-3.2 percentage points.

Respondents also indicated they would favor citizens like themselves having the right to own TASERs. On the question of individual ownership of the devices, three-in-five (61%) respondents support private citizens being able to protect themselves and their families with TASERs. A majority of every subgroup holds this view, regardless of race, gender, or income.

"The Zogby poll is very encouraging," noted Rick Smith, CEO of TASER International, Inc. "Once again, survey research clearly demonstrates strong public support for law enforcement use of non-lethal technology. Not only does the public want law enforcement to have non-lethal choices, they want those same choices available to protect both them and their loved ones. The public understands that it doesn't make sense to take away our TASER technology and that they should have the right to deescalate and buy something safer if they so choose," concluded Smith.

The Zogby International's March 8th press release stated, "The survey finds Americans in support of police use of TASERs regardless of where they live, how much they earn, or their ethnic background. Similar trends emerge on the question of whether TASERs make communities safer, with majorities of every subgroup agreeing that police use of the non-lethal Taser devices leads to safer communities-again, with support exceeding the two-thirds threshold."
