| Terrorism Suspects Tortured, Report Says Times Wire Reports | July 24, 2006 Security agents in Jordan are torturing terrorism suspects on behalf of the United States in hopes of forcing confessions, the human rights watchdog Amnesty International alleged in a new report. The report, released today, said its investigators had identified about 10 suspected cases of men sent from U.S. custody to Jordan, a close U.S. ally in the Middle East. The United States has consistently said it does not permit so-called rendition of suspects to countries that practice torture.
