Something Wicked This Way Comes
With Rita Barrelling Down, Bush at NorthCom, and Secret Commandos in DC its clear that something very suspicious is going on

Reuters and others report that Bush cancelled his trip to Texas on Friday to avoid interfering with emergency preparations for Rita's landfall. His envoy will instead go straight to U.S. Northern Command in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
White House spokesman Scott McClellan said the Federal Emergency Management Agency decided to reposition the search-and-rescue teams from San Antonio closer to the storm, "and we didn't want to slow that decision up in any way. So we made the decision that we would go straight to Colorado."
Trusted sources in the Pentagon have informed us that Bush's movement to NorthCom may very likely involve his oversight of a martial law takeover drill that is linked to clandestine military operations occurring today in Washington D.C.
The Washington Post today reported that the operation, known as "Granite Shadow", is "yet another new Top Secret and compartmented operation related to the military’s extra-legal powers regarding weapons of mass destruction. It allows for emergency military operations in the United States without civilian supervision or control."
The article also indicates that "Granite Shadow" is the twin to a similar military operation known as "Power Geyser" (or by the unclassified title: "Counter-Terrorism Special Operations Support to Civil Agencies in the event of a domestic incident") Both operations involve the use of clandestine special forces units to "provide weapons of mass destruction recovery and "render safe" in either a terrorist incident or in the case of a stolen (or lost) nuclear weapon" and both operations have already been given ''special authorities'' by the President and the secretary of defense.
While "Power Geyser" is likely an operation designed to work alongside civilian authorities, "Granite Shadow" eschews any civilian lead in favor of complete military control.
The Washington Post article continues:
Further, Granite Shadow posits domestic military operations, including intelligence collection and surveillance, unique rules of engagement regarding the use of lethal force, the use of experimental non-lethal weapons, and federal and military control of incident locations that are highly controversial and might border on the illegal.
It appears "Granite Shadow" is to be used in the even of a declaration of martial law following a catastrophic domestic WMD attack.
The operation is currently underway in Washington DC and appears to be only a drill, but none-the-less a cause for serious concern. Training exercises like these would normally be cancelled in light of the hurricane about to strike the Gulf Coast, but "Granite Shadow" is still continuing despite the approaching storm.
If the news of "Granite Shadow" and Bush's bunkering at Northcom on the heels of Rita's approach weren't concerning enough, Texas Governor Rick Perry also made some worrisome comments this week that the chaos surrounding the hurricanes makes right now a prime time for terror attacks on the United States.
This all very well may just be a drill, one more incremental turn of the screw to prepare us for what is really to come. The events following Katrina have showed those in power that Americans are willing to accept Martial Law with open arms in a time of crisis. Bush in his "Katrina Relief" speech indicated that the military was going to have a much greater role in the management of future crises.
These events, like Jim Jones' Kool-Aid, are designed to get us accustomed to having the military lording a little at a time until the day the Kool-Aid turns out to be poisoned and we all find ourselves prisoners in our own land.
More details if and when they emerge...
