Couple shot to death in violent border city
KLTV | March 10, 2006
Mexico Police in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, today found the bodies of a man and a woman who were shot to death inside their home.
Authorities say the two appear to be the latest victims of a wave of drug-related violence that has left seven people dead in two days.
Tamaulipas state police identified the victims as 23-year-old Ruben Estrada and 21-year-old Monica Muro.
Authorities say both were shot several times by gunmen using assault rifles.
Estrada, who was handcuffed and wearing only underwear, was found in the bathroom.
Muro was in the bedroom.
At least 45 have been shot and killed in ambush-style attacks this year in Nuevo Laredo, which is across the border from Laredo, Texas.
Authorities blame a turf war between drug gangs.
