As for growing food... A lot depends on where you live. I grew up in Arkansas and it's fairly easy to get certain food to grow. Tomatoes, squash, okra, cucumbers, peppers, string beans, stuff like that grows hard and fast with a little prep and TLC. Of course without modern pesticides and fertilizer a person will need to be even more diligent, putting forth more effort. I agree about the seeds though. GET THEM NOW! They may become very difficult to acquire later on. Grow now and can. Learning to can is easy but vital. Properly canned goods can easily last for more than 10 years. Canning can also be fun. It's part of my heritage and some of my fondest memories are canning with dad and grandma (and great-grandma!) Dudes, you can mass produce snap beans (string beans) and can them. You will get sick of eating them, but they grow like crazy. Any idiot can grow beans!

I put up a 6 foot privacy fence to protect my garden from prying eyes. It won't keep people out, but it might hide my groceries when times get tough. I'm at the top of the hill so it's impossible to see inside from a casual glance. 10,000 square feet fenced in and my deck overlooks it all. My dogs sit out there and keep watch!

Rice and popcorn keep for long periods. Popcorn is easy to make. Right now I'm using corn oil, but in the old days we popped with bacon grease. Trust me - it's yummy! If you can, get some pigs. They are absolutely the best investment for food. They do root (sp?) so it's not something a city person can keep. Goats are also excellent. Once you get a milk goat producing, she'll keep giving as long as you feed her. I'd have to say goats are right up there with pigs. Cows need too much grazing land and are easy for scumbags to cull. Pigs and goats can be kept close to the house. Oh, and chickens! Chickens are easy. Just keep them away from stray dogs, foxes, coyotes, etc.

Hey, you all move down here to the Southern states. We'd love to have you infowarriors down here. We can help one another survive. I've already made numerous friends and connections with Infowars people here in my community. Thank God that Alex's message is so well disseminated. Many of us hicks are up on things. God bless you guys.

If you have a house, make a vegetable garden as some have said. I cannot afford a house and am in an apartment (as I'm on disability for a mental illness).
Just do what you can do and don't worry beyond that. You have to trust in God at some point (if you are a Christian). You can't totally trust in yourself, because you can never always be totally self-sufficient, but you can do your best and not worry.
All these things - economic meltdown, soaring food prices, strange and violent weather, etc. are all prophesied in your Bible if you care to look into it.

listen, i am growing my own food and i dont know squat about it.. now is the time to learn how to grow.. you dont just drop seeds in dirt there is alot more involved.. like learning to compost... compost becomes potting soil ... it took me 1 yr to learn just how to properly compost to get the correct soil for growing food.. so if your're gonna start growing food you better start now... if you find yourself starving you might just eat the seeds you got. If you live in a apartment with no yard.. move the hell out to some place with one! You hurt the NWO when you become as self sufficient as possible.. and in reality why should you depend on greedy corporations for everything you consume??
Anyway, its not as easy as you think to become self sufficient. I have solar and am still gaining experience in growing food and it hasnt been a easy task at all.

One step at a time. It won't be long now. I reckon buying seeds would be a good start, since I don't have a place to grow right now. I can always eat the nieghbors cat and dog, I hear they don't taste that bad. I remember when San Fran passed a law against eating peoples pets. I hear horse is good too. Anything with four legs will be game.

Learn to grow food. It's pretty easy. I started my first garden in May. I now have a pepper plant, sunflowers, two types of squash and a lemon tree. The carrots and tomatoes didn't make it, but it's still good practice, and fun also.
