MOSCOW — For a decade, Russian academic Igor Panarin has been predicting the U.S. will fall apart in 2010. For most of that time, he admits, few took his argument — that an economic and moral collapse will trigger a civil war and the eventual breakup of the U.S. — very seriously. Now he’s found an eager audience: Russian state media.
In recent weeks, he’s been interviewed as much as twice a day about his predictions. “It’s a record,” says Prof. Panarin. “But I think the attention is going to grow even stronger.”
Prof. Panarin, 50 years old, is not a fringe figure. A former KGB analyst, he is dean of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s academy for future diplomats. He is invited to Kremlin receptions, lectures students, publishes books, and appears in the media as an expert on U.S.-Russia relations.
But it’s his bleak forecast for the U.S. that is music to the ears of the Kremlin, which in recent years has blamed Washington for everything from instability in the Middle East to the global financial crisis. Mr. Panarin’s views also fit neatly with the Kremlin’s narrative that Russia is returning to its rightful place on the world stage after the weakness of the 1990s, when many feared that the country would go economically and politically bankrupt and break into separate territories.

Yeah, and the Russians are fairing so much better. One look at Russian state news and all you see is anti-US propaganda and rosy pictures. A look at alternative Russian media, it shows a lot of discontent, and probably more than the US will ever have. That country is having an even bigger crackdown on rights and liberties. The US gubment hasn’t even started scratching the surface.
I really can’t take the Russian state news with a serious attitude, especially when they “predict” crap like this. It’s diversionary tactics for Russians. Do I think the professor is right? Yeah, but I’m also weary of state controlled media mouthpieces. We all should be.

Come on, Russian State Media v. American State Media… Not much of a difference. One talks about the fall of the other or how violent the country is. Things are getting worse in Russia, and are probably at a level much greater than the US. And the Blessed Russian State Media paints a rosy picture, using distractions like “the fall of the US” and how great the Russian military is to dumb down Russian citizens. And then the US does the same for its masses.
This guy is a trumpet… a Statist mouth piece. I do agree with collapse, but divisions? Perhaps but let’s not have wishful thinking Mr. State Puppet.

Former Citizen is right. Never trust what any Russian says. I speak some Russian and was training to be a missionary to Russia in the late 70’s. For anyone who believes in Jesus Christ, and looks forward to His soon coming, you will understand when I say that God gave me a vision of the fall of the Soviet Union in August 1979. He showed me that it would start to the east of Russia and come over all of the Soviet Union like a rolling cloud. But God added a caveat: He told me that the fall of communism was a temporary lapse in tyranny in that part of the world. I felt the door would only be opened for a short time to get the Gospel into those largely godless countries. A year after I saw that vision, Lech Walesa with his Solidarity movement in Poland was the beginning of the end of communism from Poland all the way through Russia and other Eastern European countries. The last symbol of Leninist/Stalinist communism was the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1991. However, the “democracy” which began with Gorbecev was short-lived.
When I saw Putin get elected, that was my sign. I knew Putin would end the freedom that had only just begun. And why? Because Putin was head of KGB in East Berlin and a tiger doesn’t change his stripes. Tyranny is in their nature. It is written on their DNA. If you could sum up all of Russian history in one word, that word would be CONQUEST. Putin is more a megalomaniac than any leader alive. He is a probably a direct descendant of Attila the Hun, king of the ancient Scythians (white Russian people are descendants of ancient Scythians). And believe me, he is hell bent on annihilating the USA. He will descend on Israel with his Muslim hordes at some point in the near future, probably hoping to draw the USA into a nuclear conflict. It will be self-destructive for him to do this, but it could also serve his purpose if he catches the US off guard and goes nuclear on us. This is what the Bible calls the Gog-Magog war. In any event, don’t ever trust anything the Russians say. They are full of lies. Now, do I believe that the US is self-destructing morally, politically, culturally, and every possible way imaginable? Yes. But any thinking person would agree with this. It doesn’t take a Russian professor to tell us. The Bible tells us in far more detail what is happening in the world. Ancient prophecy about the end times is being fulfilled every day before our very eyes.

Reading the comments here is like looking at a major car accident. Some are actually responding to the article… some are making funny comments. But the annoying ones are just babbling about Jesus or the Fed or the Jews like a broken record.
If those are the only things important to you, focus your energy on that topic by all means. But do it in a suitable environment or at least get the timing down! You wouldn’t (well, who knows) wander into a public meeting about education and start an argument that Coke is better than Pepsi.

Actually, I think the best thing that could ever happen for us (I’m a Yank) & the rest of the world would be if we actually DID break up, and lose our gawddamned “empire” while we’re at it. I know Alaska and Hawaii have very serious secessionist movements (and good for them, too!) Every state should. After all, what would the Feds do? Invade us? With what army? Every member of the armed forces would be granted a free pass to go AWOL & come home and defend his country. I believe a heckuva lot of ‘em would take the states up on that. & what a change THAT would be for them — defending their own country. As someone recently pointed out, the STATES are the United States. The Federal government is NOT — it’s a few square miles near Virginia! Let’s get rid of it!

Yea, maybe you’re right about trying to think positive. But there’s such a thing as being naive, and every angle you view this thing from is just bad and worse. If it weren’t for Dubbyuh we’d at least have a few trillion dollars to throw around, our economy would still be a sham, but not in shambles, like it is today.

Infowars information is closer to reality then you will get on most other news webstes. It is good to know what is happening or at least another perspective on events. Those of us who know that something is up should try and inform others about what is really going on. The way we present the “truth” to those unaware goes a very long way towards either scaring them into denial or waking them up. Use this information wisely on those who are asleep, and bring it to them with a positive message, set the tone with which they should be reading the information you send to them.
Radhe, if it wasn’t for this alternative information then we would have NO CHANCE! Yes energy does follow thought, but with deliberate action you control and direct energy. So use this information to do someting postive towards change. If people sit around lamenting about the information Alex Jones puts forth and don’t take action, then yes you are adding to the problem.
As for solutions and positive messages, try listening to Alex’s radio show. All day he interviews people who are taking action and making a difference. He does present a bleak picture for the future, but that is the reality of the situation. He usually has a good attitude considering the crap he has to go through and presents a positive empowering message.
Is it better to be boiled slowly in a pot of water and be oblivious to the dangers? Or better to know that the water is getting warmer and have the option to get out? Not knowing doesn’t mean the water wont boil, it just means you are oblivious to your death.
People are getting suckered into beliveing thet all they have to do is think positive thoughts and not think about bad things and everything will be fine. It is a PsyOp meant to lull you into inaction. A postivie attitude is essential to achieveing your goals when paired with concrete actions manifested in the material world. DON”T JUST THINK…DO! That is the secret.

One thing the idividual States need to realize is if the Federal Goverment does not get back to the Principle values of our Founding Documents, that every state can secede unless the leaders do not get back to the principles of life liberty and the pursuit of happines.
Those promices are not divied out or controlled by those in office or any branch of Government, it is in the Founding Documents and everyone here are entitled to them.
So we all need to demand that Congress and the next Presidency to either get back Constitutional Freedom or the States that do not want to be part of the New World Order have that right to secede.
What do the people in office expect a free people to do, just bend over and take everything up the rear?
