PDF: Aspartame Study Female Rats Developed Visible Tumors
Victoria Inness-Brown, M.A.
Aspartame Experiment
September 15, 2008
“In my opinion, we are the rats of the pharmaceutical and chemical companies that liberally spread their synthetic chemicals worldwide, with no one fully understanding the long-term adverse effects—especially the complex interactions from injecting and intermixing thousands of toxic chemicals in the plant and animal kingdoms sustaining our planet.”
—Victoria Inness-Brown
As a citizen scientist concerned about family members addicted to diet soda, I performed a 2-1/2 year scientific study on the effects of the artificial sweetener aspartame by putting aspartame (in the form of packets of NutraSweet™) in the drinking water of 60 rats, while keeping 48 as controls. Of my 30 females on aspartame, 20 of them—or 67%—developed tumors the size of golf balls or greater. Of my 30 males on aspartame, seven—or 23%—developed visible tumors. Five control females—or 21%—developed visible tumors generally smaller in size. No tumors were observed in my control males.
The percentage of females-to-males with tumors was approximately 3:1, which coincides with the complaints about aspartame registered with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA)
before it stopped accepting them, where females registered 77% of all complaints.
My rats on aspartame also developed other apparent health issues, such as paralysis, difficulty walking, spasmodic torticollis (also called dystonia, where the neck is twisted and the head continually tilted to one side), infected and bleeding eyes, skin lesions, thinning and yellowing fur, and obesity—which is sad, because people often use aspartame to lose weight.
1 H.J. Roberts, MD, Aspartame Disease, an Ignored Epidemic (West Palm Beach, FL: Sunshine Sentinel Press, Inc., 2001): 88. In reference to L. Tollefson,
R.J. Barnard, and W.H. Glinsmann, “Monitoring of adverse reactions to aspartame reported to the U.S.
Food and Drug Administration,” in Proceedings of the First International Meeting on Dietary Phenylalanine and Brain Function, edited by R.J. Wurtman and E. Ritter-Walker, Washington DC (May 1987): 347-372.
Female on aspartame who often used her huge tumor as a pillow Male on aspartame whose hind legs became paralyzed while consuming aspartame.
Three of the rats in my control group developed thinning fur and one developed skin problems.
The US Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI) set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allows for the human consumption of 50 mg of aspartame per kg of body weight per day, which is equivalent to a 150-lb person drinking about 20 12-oz. cans of diet soda. My male rats received about 34 mg/kg of aspartame per day, which is equivalent to a 150-lb. (68-kg) human male drinking about 13 12-oz. cans or 2.25 two-liter bottles of diet soda a day. My females received about 45 mg/kg per day, which is equivalent to a 120-lb. (55-kg) human female drinking about 14 12-oz. cans or 2.4 two-liter bottles of diet soda a day.
FDA laws state that the ADI for any food additive should be one hundred times less than the
lowest amount found to cause adverse health effects.
2 If my results are considered valid, then the ADI for aspartame should be the equivalent of less than 1/8 can of diet soda per day. However, if the tumor rate observed in my study is considered valid, then aspartame should be removed from the marketplace altogether. According to the pro-aspartame authors of The Clinical Evaluation of a Food Additive: Assessment of Aspartame , “
If the additive is found to cause cancer in either animals or humans at any dose, it is banned from use as a food additive, as a result of the Delaney Anticancer Clause of 1958.”
3 For more details and to view slide-show movies of my results, go to aspartameexperiment.com
For complete details, get My Aspartame Experiment: Report from a Private Citizen, available from my website as a downloadable e-book.
Note: After reading my report, my family member who had been consuming the most aspartame-laced diet soda said “ Your report is very convincing. Since reading it, I’ve cut way down on diet sodas with aspartame.”
Note : My heavily referenced new e-book, My Aspartame Experiment: Report from a Private Citizen, with compelling personal testimonies from aspartame victims, becoming an integral part of an astonishing story underscored by quotes from independent scientific studies and other sources reporting serious adverse effects from aspartame. Salted within the story are “Pollyanna-like” quotes from aspartame industry “talking points” that are also distributed by the numerous national and global regulatory agencies meant to protect the 200,000,000 consumers worldwide who daily ingest aspartame in over 6000 foods, drinks, pharmaceutical drugs and vitamins.
This powerful combination of strategically placed quotes and photos dramatically illustrates the stark contrasts between the studies sponsored by the aspartame industry that consistently claim aspartame is safe, versus those done by independent researchers consistently reporting serious adverse effects from the sweetener. The report also highlights the deep conflicts of interests of the scientists and doctors who did the highly-applauded pro-aspartame Magnuson 2007 Report, and debunks a multitude of other aspartame industry studies by exposing the flaws in their experimental designs.
Note
: My website aspartameexperiment.com is not to be confused with a site of a similar name posted on February 11, 2008 without my permission, and claiming that I was the author. That site was created by someone who scanned images from and rewrote an early, incomplete,
2 Dr. Christian Tschanz, Dr. Harriett H. Butchko, Dr. W. Wayne Stargel, and Dr. Frank N. Kotsonis, The Clinical Evaluation of a Food Additive: Assessment of Aspartame (New York, NY: CRC Press LLC, 1996), 24. 3 Ibid.
Incorrect, and tattered printout of my report that was a work in progress I had not released to the public. (I didn’t finish analyzing my data for another six months and had guessed at some of the information, such as the start date and duration of my experiment.) In addition, valid data in that version of my report was misinterpreted.
For example, the unauthorized site claims that my results were from consuming an equivalent in humans of a single can of diet soda per day, while the actual values are 13 and 14 cans daily for human males and females respectively. The unauthorized site was translated into several languages and linked to over 1,000 websites.
If you own one of those sites, please correct the information on your site and replace the unauthorized link with aspartameexperiment.com.

I always try my best to inform people about Aspartame.
While I’m at the store and come across people buy Diet products I let them know, since it’s easy to see a giant ass Diet Pepsi in a shopping cart.
Most put them back and buy non-diet products, if for example, they were buying Pepsi or something.
But yesterday I told this woman about it, she didn’t care. She said I was full of it. I actually saw her go down the aisle and buy another Diet soda… fuckin stupid.
Some people just don’t want to be helped.

Dont interfere with natural selection, Donald Rumsfield was the director of the drug company when it released aspertame btw, people that are intune with themselves know danger and how to avoid it, we deserve to inherit this earth not aspertame sucking war pigs that wont listen to reason, so dont fear for them be happy that they are killing themselves and making the world a better place for us

very interesting – glad to hear I am not a looney and that instincts are reality.
Genetics is definitely a great and easy way to deceive the masses – something most people don’t even know about resides in their own body (atoms cells and how they work).
Most interesting.

How the “left” and the “right” demonize aspartame critics:
“Right” wingers: “You’re a tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theorist, and you’re with al-Qaeda!”
“Left” wingers: “You’re an evil shill for the evil sugar industry!” And if you explain to the deluded lefties that the sugar industry and the aspartame industry are all owned and controlled by the same people, they just continue labeling you “an evil shill for the evil sugar industry.” Neocons and neolibs are incapable of rational thought. They think rational thought is “Why would I buy a 32-bit system for $300 when I can get a 64-bit Jaguar for $149.”

I have killed so many ants in my apartment with this Aspartame (pharaoh ants die within 10 sec., carpenter die within 1.5 min. after exposure). I agree, imagining what it does to people who are addicted to this stuff. (Diet soda tastes like crap to me anyway)
Thank Proctor and Gamble for this WONDERFUL product (sarcasm).
September 15th, 2008 at 3:14 pm
This is somewhat skewed though. If you drink 1 diet soda a week, you’re most likely going to be fine right? I mean, these rats were drinking this water daily, and I’m assuming more than once a day, and this article doesn’t explain in what dosage the packets per water per serving was given.
It’s easy to cast blame on diet drinks, but why not step in and admit that there is a lack of self control and discipline in society? Isn’t that the heart of the issue, not the product itself.
good article though, good article, and yes, aspartame is a poor substitute for sugar.

well done — very happy to hear ordinary citizens taking science and health into their own hands

…Ah-bdi… These” scientists” are very impressive !!! I too have a theory , if one of them takes a
“WD40″ bath , he might start seeing stars !!!
September 15th, 2008 at 3:37 pm
is it ok to use aspacreme on my ache joints?
September 15th, 2008 at 3:54 pm
Still, that is suspiciously interesting that your control Females had a high case of getting visible tumors (21%) – why is there no explanation or mention of why this is?
Good article, though. Keep up the great work. I can’t really see showing this to my friends and family members to drink this stuff.
I feel bad for the rats, though. Now, can you do a study on Splenda? Thanks.

Is Rumsfeld sweating already?…
September 15th, 2008 at 4:28 pm
Did you know that brain tumors known as meningeoma are twice as likely to occur in females than males(2:1). To this day it is said they have no idea what causes them. Makes you think.
September 15th, 2008 at 4:38 pm
I tell my wife about aspartame and fluoride. She refuses to listen to me. She buys the kids flouride toothpaste and mouthwash. She still buys diet soda. I am at the point I will just have to throw it out.
September 15th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
please stop killing rats,This is inhumain.
I have a solution,use bankers ,politicians,
media puppets.

There is good news Hemp oils have shown positive therapeutic results on a variety of cancers, arthritis, diabetic ulcers, obesity, depression, PTSD, among hundreds of other afflictions. Medicine men and root doctor’s have known this for thousands of years. But in todays society, with side effects that may include: Thinking outside the box, rejecting social dogmas( if they were lying about hemp, what else are they lying about?), healing yourself with a plant that will grow anywhere, a firm conviction in human rights and social injustice being a victim of predatory government persecution, and having your own civil rights and privacy trampled yourself, in turn telling Uncle Sam to shit in his hat and pull it over his ears.
While they push this synthetic Dr. Frankenstein poison off as edible? It’s an outrage. They want to control everything we put in our bodies and if it doesn’t make them money, it’s no go. Same with people who pick wild plants and mushrooms. How is picking a cubensis mushroom, growing in the middle of a cow pasture on your own property, a crime? The Cops will SWAT team you faster than hell. It is not the government’s job to eradicate the plant and animal kingdoms of anything deemed inedible. Everytime I talk to somebody about the legalization of hemp, people think it’s good so the government can regulate it, and tax it, and the nation can get out of debt? Why is it even the governments business, what I we have growing on our property? Do you pay taxes on flower bulbs from your garden or from collected vegetable seeds, for next years planting? It needs to be put to Constitutional Ballot initiative, for the people, by the people. It would win in a minute, and these DEA cowboys would be out of a job. Or better yet they’d have to go after the real bad guys, who pay them off. When will we take it back? Don’t you see, it’s all connected. It’s about personal freedoms, and civil liberties, and checks and balances against the government. Watch this old guy in the movie. Prosecuted as a drug dealer, for giving his hemp oil out free for dying people to try as a last resort.
“Evidence…proves that prohibition only drives drunkenness behind doors and into dark places, and does not cure it or even diminish it”.-Mark Twain 1867

Thanx rumsfeld for the poisoning who’ve done to the world. Sick bastard.

High frutose corn syrup is the reason we have a obesity crisis in this country. I cut out soda, and as many food products with high frutose corn syrup out of my diet. First let me say, six months ago I was bite by a deer tick and started showing symptoms of Lyme’s disease. I was on intervenes antibiotics for two months and felt worse than the actual lymes disease symptoms. So I decided to detoxify, eat right, and exercise. I went off red meat, lots of garden fresh vegetables, and organic store bought produce, cut out the corn syrup and as many preservatives as possible. Not only did I lose thirty pounds in a matter of months ( I now weigh the same as I did my senior year in high school), I haven’t been sick once, or has my chronic back pain been unmanageable .
I sustained a pretty serious back injury when I worked as an industrial electrician, pulling cable. All the disks in my lower back are blown out. I received this injury at nineteen they wanted to cut on me and I refused, and even after two years of physical therapy, I was never right. Back spasms, sciatica, lose of mobility, ect. Not being active, and constantly popping pain pills, I put on pounds, and ruined my guts. After detoxifying and losing weight, not only has my back pain alleviated incredibly, I’ve gotten back mobility I didn’t know I still had. It’s incredible. The little pains I do get, mixed with the insomnia is next to nil, with the added use of hemp. I feel great, and it makes you wonder how much of these cases of depression, obesity, and everything else is related to your diet.
Seriously, I haven’t watched T.V. in six months too, that makes you foggy and somehow out of touch, like programming. It is like truly being a free person again, like a kid. I do my art, keep a clean house, cook healthy dinners, and still have time for infowars, and of course making that almighty dollar. I still get mood swings and insomnia, but there again I think it’s all those narcotic meds I was on for all those years. It will take years to get back to my natural biological rhythm. You are what you eat, is a wise saying indeed. Quit shoveling garbage in your body, I’m the poorest bastard with the worst self control, you probably know, and I did it. I’m telling you it’s a new life, even your outlook on life changes. Red meat makes you aggressive and foggy brained, same with all these synthetic food additives. It’s poison.

Donald Rumsfeld was CEO of the Pharmaceutical that got Aspartic acid approved through the back door of the FDA by removing all the research behind it the FDA thought it would be good for us.
Now the Cancer rate in America is 1/3, ONE out of THREE people in America has CANCER and all the supposed researchers can’t seem to find why? You have to be pretty stupid to not see the relation between those numbers and the massive poisoning of the US food supply……..
ANTIFREEZE is in your Salad DRESSINGS, LOTIONS & CREAMS, SHAMPOO, CONDITIONER, ETC…..
ASPARTAME, ACESULFAME is in all diet soda, chewing gums, powdered drinks and tons of other pre-made foods
MERCURY in your fillings, VACCINES, WATER SUPPLY, FISH and more…..
MSG monosodiumglutimate – everywhere in restaurant foods
Tons of Pharmaceutical chemicals in all of the things you use on a daily basis such as SHAMPOO, CONDITIONER, HAND SOAP, LOTIONS , DRINKING WATER (both bottled and tap water), tons of ready made foods, OFF bug spray has DEET it will cause cancer, literally tons of toxins in your daily life and hardly anyone speaks a word about all this to ANYONE.
I guess you can all just go to the doctor and get a toxic pill to relieve all the pain from all the toxic chemicals that you willingly abuse yourselves with daily without so much as a whimper. No wonder, everybody is suffering from TOXIC OVERLOAD!
I guess I’ll just go to the grocery store and get some of those “fresh vegatables” made by Monsanto so I can have the purest form of genetically modified food on the market to accelerate the poison effect flowing throughout my body.
September 15th, 2008 at 7:54 pm
If anyone does the research, it is simply amazing how this poison even got on the market! I know three people that have died from this crap now. Thank you Donald Rumsfeld!
Tom Joad – your story closely parallel’s my own. Several years ago I ruptured three discs in my back and went on some pretty heavy pain killers. After six months I was a walking zombie. I got off of all that shit and detoxed myself (Essiac tea) and went organic. I even started growing a garden and planted a small orchard. Within a year, I got my mind back, lost 40 pounds and my back stopped hurting so bad. I probably would be dead by now if I continued following my doc’s advice.
Now I have to figure a way around all of Monsanto’s GMO’s???
Good luck all – It will all be over soon!

No, a hazardous chemical is hazardous no matter what the dosage, if taken on a long enough time-line. I hear this argument from people who ingest fluoride daily: “I’ve been drinking this stuff my whole life, nothing has happened to me yet.” Yes, yet. In all probability their IQ has dropped a few points and they can’t reach their natural full potential because of it. In the same way, ingesting aspartame or anything hazardous to your health is outright stupid and should be avoided at all costs.
Not to mention it is absolutely criminal for an industry to continue to produce these chemicals when they are fully aware of the effects of these compounds. I find it hard to believe these major companies don’t have a team of lawyers and scientists who know the true side effects of their products.

Just in case you fellow infowarriors have not yet seen this film………..
I strongly recommend YouTubeing the following query………”Esoteric Agenda”
This flick has all the goodies and truth of what this article is getting at!
Long live the Great American Republic!

ATTN: Logan, I have read through some of the full report. The control group tumor issue is addressed in the full report,. There is an obvious difference between the rats on aspartame and control group, The tumors and health issues in the aspartame fed rats are gigantic and disturbing in comparison to the control group tumors. I believe the male control group had no tumors. The female control group only had 21%, and they were small tumors.
ATTN: Sir Jorge, You need to read the full report. The article is just a brief summary. The full report explains dosage in the “Experimental Protocol” chapter. Also, I recommend you read the “Conclusion” section on the aspartameexperiment.com website. The amount of aspartame given to the rats was based on the US ADI. “The FDA claims that it is safe for a 150 lb. (68 kg) human adult (male or female) to drink up to 20 12-oz. cans of diet soda per day.” According to Victoria, “The equivalent amount of soda for human and females participating in my experiment would be about 13 and 14 12-oz. cans of diet soda per day, respectively.” She also concludes, that only 1/8th a can per day is safe. In a nutshell, if I purchase Tobacco I get a warning that I have a cancer risk. Aspartame should have similar warnings, it can cause multigenerational cancers and mutations. If the FDA says its safe for 20 cans a day, they are misleading consumers, into thinking that diet drinks are as safe as drinking spring water. The heart of the issue is Aspartame needs warning labels, which would encourage the moderation you are looking for.
September 15th, 2008 at 11:41 pm
Half the garbage they feed us is plain garbage.
It’s all about monopolies and that includes the FDA, which gives licenses to own a monopoly.

#16&18,good post,I know about back problems, and I feel for you.
I wonder if you and everybody else for that matter are aware of CODEX ALIMENTARIUS.Or bill C-51,and C-52 in canada?
They basically want to make nutrients illigal, irradiate every fishs, birds,or animals that we eat.As for bill C-51&C-52,the pharmaceutical drug lords want to take control of natural supplements.
We have until december 31 2009 to stop them.Get informed, and fight for your rights to eat nutritious food.

the legacy Rumsfeld left us.
im going to get this out of my diet completely, which is tricky, since every major brand drink, crisp, and junk food has it in. these are shocking figures, im going to tell everyone i can.
Alex mentioned somewhere about:
THE CURE FOR CANCER, AS G EDWARD GRIFFIN TELLS US – vitamin b17
- as found in apricot kernels can be eaten to prevent cancer to a large degree. alex mentioned eating them could be toxic, but G Edward Griffin says otherwise, he consumes them himself, i dont mention it out of a need to correct Alex, but to clarify the cure for cancer is B17, and you can simply eat apricot kernels, life changing information in a world where one in two males gets cancer in their lifetime, women, one in three. something alex jones should mention on a daily basis so it doesnt go unoticed, we already have a natural cure! use it.
i even listened to an interview with g edward griffin where i barely heard him mention the cure for cancer, he was concentrating on the fed. shout it from the rooftops, we have a cure for cancer thats natural too.
September 16th, 2008 at 2:41 am
everybody should watch “a world without cancer” by g edward griffin. amazing knowledge.
might save many lives inluding ur own,
ONE IN TWO MEN, AND ONE IN THREE WOMEN WILL DIE OF CANCER maybe more, unless you get knowledged up, and act on it, and spread the word, and order those apricot kernels and other foods!
peace….
great artical, wake people up.

27 and 28 is there an associated video link you could provide or a “search phrase” that will lead me across this information you folks are so adament is true. i think that there is something interesting going on with the domestic food supply and artificial additives; cancer is growing significantly even though are diets are “apparently” better than ever so there has to be some missing link or conspiracy behind it or even a form of population control who knows
September 17th, 2008 at 12:41 pm
Doctors kill 170,000 people each year by bad/wrong medicine and botched surgury.

I’m glad I am a human male and not a female rat. Pass me another Coke Zero. This time with a bit of Jim Beam in it. Thanks!
September 18th, 2008 at 9:22 am
This can’t be right, I thought aspartame was one of the most studied compounds ever approved for human consumption….
I quit my consumption of both aspartame and sucralose (splenda) after strenuous activity (mainly sex) would result in a terrible migraine. Funny thing is I had to search the net to get that info, even though I had watched a couple movies on aspartame. Im not saying its bad for everyone, but it is for me, and it took years of consumption to first show side effects.
September 18th, 2008 at 12:07 pm
why is it always rats?
Why do I never see 67% of female scientists develop visible tumors?
