Editor’s note: A bombing in Athens has all the earmarks of an Operation Gladio event. Earlier this month, thousands of Greeks protested and rioted in response to “austerity measures” demanded by the international bankers.

A teenage boy was killed and his mother and younger sister wounded in a bomb blast in Athens last night, police said. The 15-year-old Afghan boy died after stumbling on a bag in a rubbish bin containing the bomb. The blast also injured his 10-year-old sister and their mother, according to the civil protection ministry.

The girl was taken to a children’s hospital with slight burns to her face and hands, as well as bruising. Her mother, who was in a state of shock, was also slightly injured and taken to a different hospital.

Police cordoned off the street and were searching the area in a residential neighbourhood in central Athens.

“We do not know yet about the motive or the intended target. All I can tell you, from what the mother told the police, is that the victim was her 15-year-old son,” said a police spokesman, who added the victims were from Afghanistan.
