“Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency,” the original draft of the proposed bill says.

And with those words, the Treasury secretary – whoever that may be in a few months – would be vested with perhaps the most incredible powers ever bestowed on one person over the economic and financial life of the United States. It is the financial equivalent of the Patriot Act, after 9/11.
Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson Jr.’s $700 billion proposal to bail out Wall Street is both the biggest rescue and the most amazing power grab in the history of the American economy.
In many ways, it is classic Wall Street: a big, bold roll of the dice that one trade can save the day. But at the same time, the hypocrisy is thick. The lack of transparency and oversight that got our financial system in trouble in the first place seems written directly into the proposed bill, known as TARP, or the Troubled Asset Relief Program.
Just take a look at the original draft: “The Secretary is authorized to take such actions as the Secretary deems necessary to carry out the authorities in this act,” the proposed bill read when it was first presented to Congress, “without regard to any other provision of law regarding public contracts.”
It goes on to say, “Any funds expended for actions authorized by this Act, including the payment of administrative expenses, shall be deemed appropriated at the time of such expenditure.”
Slowly but surely, as new versions of the bill are making the rounds in Washington, some legislators are pressing to include new language to give them at least a modicum of oversight. Democrats have complained that the bill gives the Treasury Department “a blank check” – and they’re right.
But given the rush to push the bill through, even if Congress cobbles together some oversight language, it will almost surely be inadequate.

Belinda, I just went to that web site and they are of their father the devil and the works that he does they do also. Jesus said “how shall you escape the damnation of hell fire?” I am a Christian and from reading the Bible I have come to believe that the anglo saxon (Isaacs sons) are the true Israelite children of God. Get a life man! Who cares if the music being played is Satanic? I don’t agree with the statement you make about the music of Led Zeppelin, Johnny Cash being satanic. Have you ever heard the Johnny Cash song, “Gods Gonna Cut You Down”? The chorus in that song says, “Go and tell that long-tongued liar, go and tell that midnight rider, sooner or later god will cut you down, sooner or later god will cut you down.” To me, that is saying that he believes in God–Jesus Christ.
I have listened to Led Zeppelin for years and I cannot think of any members of Led Zep ever endorsing Satan. You’re probably talking about how Jimmy Page bought Alistair Crowley’s house, right? I think the main point that I’m trying to express is that who cares? There are some very pressing issues in front of us in the world and you’re talking about what— Subliminal messages? I don’t buy into that. If Alex Jones was a satan worshipper then he’d play some real satan worshipping music I think.

Insultant asks a very good question, (paraphrasing) “Why would Paulson begin with such an over-the-top plan?” You see that struck me a curious as well. What it really does is move the conversation from “Should we or should we not give away the financial farm to these large financial companies” to “Should we put limitations and oversight on the (already decided on) giveaway.”

Read 2nd Samuel 7-10 and remember this was after they were in the promised land. Read in v. 13 where He promised there would always be some one to sit on King David’s throne. Where is that throne? If we split up the $700,000,000,000.00 between all the legal US citizens over 18 years old and even pay the taxes as if it is income. Each person would get about $300,000.00. In most cases this would payoff all of the debe for 90% of Americans.

Ok so there is a financial crises. WTF!!!!!! Like anyone really gives a flying s--- about it. There are those few patriotic intellectual citizens, but those are far and few. We humans have been reduced to pigs. We are only concerned about food, shelter, and play. WE live in the land of apathy and I want no part of it. Thats why i live in the mountains of Montana. Modern life has become way to complicated and frankly i believe life is an illusion. The only things that are real are the things i choose to make real. If we ponder on the negative then negative is what we will get. Its called the collective conscience and it is this collective mind that needs to be healed. Why should i care that billions of dollars are going to already rich people. Maybe we all need to realize that life is much simpler then what we make it. All i gotta say is, “Turn Off the T.V.!” Its a wonderful world out there and common folk like you and i don’t dwell in those area’s of life and we can’t change the role of the Alpha Male, so why even let it exist in your mind? Why let them have that power over you, they don’t have that power over me.

If so, i think that the real reason from what i learned about (cds’s) is that a major credit event has happened to the government and they are about to lose their credit rating which means that they the government won’t be able to borrow money from other countries and thats what keeps this country flowing with debt notes and thats why we are all on the hook for this BS. Think for a minute what is it that they’re not trying to tell the public at large. About the cds market! by the way if all you mad as hell people out there want to stop this there is still a chance that we could put our money up and buy a cds on the government because it is a corporation!!!!!!!!!!!!! we all know that this plan is not going to work anyway so lets all come together and hedge our bets since they think that we are to stupid to figure their asses out. I am very sad to say that Bush , and his Administration , is trying to pull this “bad deal” off just before he is to retire from office.
He has alledgedly taken care of the War machine suppliers and now allededly is trying to take care of the financially rich. ( against what he has alledgedly said in past talks.)
We have gone from chasing communist to chasing terrorists , but not Bin Laden.
I personally am sick and tired of this man alledgedly bankrupting our country.
I was all for going into Afghanistan and getting the so-called Terrorists, even though

Choose your religion wisely, just because you were born in a particular religion DOES NOT mean that is the true religion. Do your research first before committing to a religion.
