Barack Obama’s security team delights the war hawks

Barack Obama will announce his national security team today to approval from the military establishment and Republicans, distant cries of dissent from liberals and head-scratching from others.
The President-elect is expected to confirm the nomination of Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State, ask Robert Gates to remain at the Pentagon, and make General Jim Jones his National Security Adviser.
All three are heavyweight figures with whom Mr Obama has policy disagreements of varying intensity, and these choices are intended to emphasise his policy of reaching out to former rivals and opponents.
“You don’t just put the people who were on your side in the campaign,” said Claire McCaskill, a Democratic senator, yesterday. “He wants the best and the brightest and he does not care about their political stripes.”

Yesterday Republicans were showering praise on these selections. Senator Lindsey Graham said that Mr Gates, President Bush’s Defence Secretary, had “led us through difficult times in Iraq” and that Mrs Clinton had a “little harder line” than Mr Obama on foreign policy.
Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is said to have formed a “very positive” early impression of Mr Obama and been similarly heartened by his appointments. Mr Gates differs from Mr Obama on nuclear policy. General Jones has served the Bush Administration as an envoy in the Middle East, where he was critical of Israel, and, though supportive of redeploying troops to Afghanistan, has previously suggested that a precipitate withdrawal from Iraq would be against the national interest.

Good God, how can so many people be apathetic to the direction of the States. When will you people do something, not that I’m trying to judge but how long will this farce be allowed to continue. I know it’s not even just the States but the entire world that is danger of becoming Babylon. ALex Jones coverage of Obama is sad. He is always saying on his show, don’t believe me, research yourself… look it up.
I hope people do that because most of the crap hes saying falls apart under scrutiny. How will alex spin it if Obama closes Gitmo? How will alex spin it when he ends that war in iraq and brings troops home? My guess is obama can do no good in the eyes of alex. no matter what obama does he will spin obama as a monster.

If you think Obama will run like Bush did you crazy. and stupid. obama has said over and over he will bring the troops home. there is zero evidence to the contrary. how is that hawkish? How is any of his actions hawkish? he has said torture is wrong, gitmo should close etc. he was against the war from the beginning. what do you want? it will be fun to see people freak when he is actually a decent president. i hope people will give him credit if it is his due. Jordan, your Obama facts are inaccurate. He was not a professor, he was a junior lecturer. He did not teach for 20 years, according to his autobiography, his lecturing was actually very inconsistent (on and off). The man was never the type to stay in a job. I’ll be surprised if he wants to finish his 4 years in office!
I would contend that the allegations of the members of this site have some merit when speaking of Obama. This website advocates for the sovereignty of America, free from oppressive rulers and an unparalleled commitment to the constitution. Obama has indicated on a San Francisco radio show that the “bill of rights was too restrictive” and “a burden on the courts”. Obama likes to envision himself not as an American citizen, (which is already controversial and under scrutiny) but as a “Citizen of the World”. The man wants to implement a domestic corps group that is just as well funded as the military.
There are plenty of cautionary points for members of this website from Obama. If you wish to discuss further, or feel the need to rebut my comment, you are more than welcome to email me at vinnydabod@aol.com. Don’t be so quick to dismiss the ideology on this site. Though it may be true that some are irrational, and some have a zero-sum gauge when measuring Obama, but please be aware that the messiah provides plenty of gasoline for the fire.
