BBC Caught In Mass Public Deception With Iran Propaganda

The BBC has again been caught engaging in mass public deception by using photographs of pro-Ahmadinejad rallies in Iran and claiming they represent anti-government protests in favor of Hossein Mousavi.
An image used by the L.A. Times on the front page of its website Tuesday showed Iranian President Ahmadinejad waving to a crowd of supporters at a public event.
In a story covering the election protests yesterday, the BBC News website used a closer shot of the same scene, but with Ahmadinejad cut out of the frame. The caption under the photograph read, ‘Supporters of Mir Hossein Mousavi again defied a ban on protests’.
The BBC photograph is clearly a similar shot of the same pro-Ahmadinejad rally featured in the L.A. Times image, yet the caption erroneously claims it represents anti-Ahmadinejad protesters.

“Well I guess it sure was a popular fictional rally for Mousavi, because I later noticed while browsing the news sites a familiar picture on the BBC’s lead Iran story – it shows the same crowd, zoomed in to cut out Ahmadinejad,” a reader told the WhatReallyHappened website. “It is clearly the same protest as in the background are the same tree and odd circular building. However, the BBC managed to outdo the LA times in quality reporting – their actual comment under the photo from the huge PRO-Ahmadinejad rally reads ‘Supporters of Mir Hossein Mousavi again defied a ban on protests’ – a blatant lie and deliberately misleading description of what is actually occurring in Iran!”

This is not the first time the BBC has been caught red-handed using crude image and video framing techniques for the purposes of political propaganda.
During the fall of Baghdad in April 2003, the BBC and other mainstream news outlets broadcast closely framed footage of the “mass uprising” during which Iraqis, aided by U.S. troops, toppled the Saddam Hussein statue in Fardus Square.
The closely framed footage was used to imply that hundreds or thousands of Iraqis were involved in a Berlin Wall-style “historic” liberation, yet when wide angle shots were later published on the Internet, footage that was never broadcast on live television, the reality of the “mass uprising” became clear. The crowd around the statue was sparse and consisted mostly of U.S. troops and journalists. The BBC later had to admit that only “dozens” of Iraqis had participated in toppling the statue. The entire scene was a manufactured farce yet the propaganda technique of blocking wide-angle shots from being broadcast convinced the world that the event represented a triumphant and historic mass popular uprising on behalf of the Iraqi people.
Whatever your views on the legitimacy of Ahmadinejad and the accuracy of the Iranian election results, the fact that the Anglo-American establishment and its media organs are exploiting and fanning the flames of chaos in Iran to provoke further instability is unquestionable.
Indeed, the U.S. State Department, which routinely demonizes the Internet as a tool of extremists and terrorists when it is used to criticize U.S. foreign policy, took the unprecedented step today of requesting that Twitter.com “delay planned maintenance work so that Iranian protesters can continue to use it to post images and reports of unrest,” according to a London Times report.

In my opinion it is extremely plausible that HAARP was responsible for the Tsunami on Dec. 26, 2004 and the Iran Earthquake Dec. 26, 2006. it is also very biblical. 1260 days (biblical reference) before the Tsunami was 9/11/01.

The Sichuan earthquake in China, I believe was caused by HAARP. Thirty minutes before the quake there were strange dancing rainbow clouds photographed by hundreds of people. I saw them on youtube. 10,000 died, mostly children. The schools were built with a mortar that simply dissolved into sand when the tremors started, collapsing the schools instantly. In China, there is a strict one child policy. The quake wiped out not only a whole generation of Chinese in that province but all future generations.

point of this is to show that they messed with the after picture.
the bottom is before and the top is after you see many changes on the top.

This is funny. I once worked for a cameraman for ABC & CBS news and he admitted that he had to do things like this for the news. He gave an example that on one occasion he transferred dubbed audio of angry protesters onto the video of Muslims mourning and the news coverage was supposed to be that people in Iran were protesting. And this was over 20 years ago!

@ OMG: The angle in the original doesn’t give enough allowance for a clean crop to make the second ‘questionable’ image, so I’d agree with what you’ve said. In that instance the two are likely from different cameras at the same even as there are a fair few common elements to both images (so the central point of the article about using incorrectly sourced images is sound, but not for quite the ‘right’ reason).

Any sensible person would see that Ahmadinejad doesn’t pose a threat to the US in any way, he has no control over the Iranian military, he doesn’t have the ability to declare war – and (with the exception of the United States via the CIA’s intervention) the Iranian people don’t look like they are suffering under his leadership.
The CIA and the US needs to get the hell out of that country – their election isn’t our problem, if we start a war with Iran, any remaining love I had for the USA will be completely gone – one illegal war is too much, three “official” illegal wars will be FAR beyond reason, (and who knows how many other fucked up illegal operations this country engages in that we don’t know about.)

I looked and looked but couldn’t find any definite proof that the BBC used the same crowd in order to create propaganda. I know the BBC does these sort of things I just can’t find any definitive evidence that these photos are of the same crowd. Looks like this article is just as misleading as some of the shyte that the BBC puts out.

if you had something substantial that would prove that the crowds are the same you probably would have posted it. Since you didn’t it means you’re just following the crowd. I compared the pictures and there is no definitive proof. If I missed something that proves anything to the contrary then please, post it.

The thing is anyone who interest himself in iran situation would know at the first look at the photo, that these are Ahmadinedjad supporters. If BBC wrote that those a Musavis supporters than they FAILED, coz everyone with a half of brain would recognize Ahmadinedjad supporters, BBC wouldn’t even have to use photoshop, coz this fact is obvious at first sight – dark dress, iranian flags, too easy, try harder BBC.

This is clearly not the same photo. It’s not even taken at the same time.
Look at the image from the LA Times, you can clearly see multiple windows open in the background building. The BBC image is taken from a completely different angle, and almost all of the windows on the background building are closed. The LA Times picture looks like it could have been doctored itself with some clone stamping, and there seems to be a lot of green flags super-imposed in the crowds, and yet the BBC image seems to have none. I’m suprised no one has commented on this yet, but if you would take a look at the headline in the L.A. Times article it clearly says “Hundreds of thousands in Iran protests vote result”,
not “Ahmadinejad supporters cheer on their leader” or anything even close to that.
So nobody has been caught. You people are believing an article at face value without even
checking to see whether or not it is factual. You all should be ahamed of yourselves for not being as thorough enough to even check out the sources. And what is with the first photo? What does that have to do with any of this? Seems like some sort of misdirection of thought itself.
Don’t get me wrong I respect PJW as we are both the same age and that he has the balls to do what he does and none of me peers seem even have the slightest clue as to what is going on around them; but I mean…come on.
There is no story here. (I personally think he just jumped the gun and was probably in too big of a hurry to submit this article.)

I semi-agree with you guys. This site is so full of ‘haters’ who want to outdo each other with their insults against entire swathes of soceity/ the world. However, I’m against the hate laws. I believe the onous is on the ‘hated’ to keep their cool and ignore the bullying (verbal bullying at least). If the ‘hated’ can’t take an insult they have a problem. I also agree the ‘hated’ have a right to reply with more ‘hatred’. You can try to censor this disrespect but it won’t make enough difference to be worthwhile. Most of the Muslims I’ve known so far are OK ppl. Having said that, if you read UK news for instance over the course of a year you will clearly see Muslims are involved in many more cases of extreme: man on woman physical abuse, man & women on children physical abuse/neglect, racist attacks on blacks non-muslims – and Muslim’s are a minority in the UK. I don’t believe this is just biased reporting, all extreme crimes are hyped in the UK. The Muslims I know have a very (physically & mentally) strict upbringing which I believe creates a climate of violence within their culture – too much discipline. At the other end of the scale there is the huge problem of not enough discipline letting children ‘get away with’ violent behaviour. The world needs balance but hiding the extremes on the internet will not help – for some it is a release.

As an Iranian I can assure you that the majority of the iranians are against Ahmadinejad and the current government which has no respect for human rights and it’s own people.
