Because You’ll Believe Anything: Unknown Terrorist Group Claims Responsibility For Marriot Bombing

In a phone call to an Islamabad TV station, "a group calling itself Fedayeen-i-Islam" has claimed responsibility for the bombing of the Marriot Hotel in Islamabad, according to the Pakistani newspaper Dawn.
Fedayeen-i-Islam is "a little-known group" according to Bloomberg. But just how little-known?
Dawn’s report quotes "a senior [Pakistani] government official" as saying:
“We have not heard the name of the organisation but we are trying to locate its network.”
Amazing.
Ever since Saturday night’s bombing the media have been wrestling with the big question: "Why did al Qaeda do this?"
But now they have to deal with a different question: "How is Fedayeen-i-Islam related to al Qaeda?"
It goes without saying that Fedayeen-i-Islam must be a violent radical Islamofascist group and that they must have bombed the hotel. And they must have been assisted, if not directed, by al Qaeda, and probably the Taliban as well. After all, who else but the world’s most violent Islamic terrorists could make an anonymous phone call to a TV station?
It’s nice to know the big questions are looked after. That gives us leeway — here in the frozen corners of the blogosphere — to ask meaningless little insignificant questions, like:
What were US Marines doing in the Marriot Hotel just before the attack?
According to Pakistan Daily, after the blast, a fire broke out on the fourth and fifth floors of the hotel.
Why these floors and not the others? The official explanation didn’t make much sense. On the other hand, according to an eyewitness report from a member of Pakistan’s Parliament, a group of US Marines had recently visited the hotel, while Admiral Mike Mullen was there.

According to the eyewitness, all access to the hotel was closed off while the Marines unloaded steel boxes from a white US Embassy truck, bypassed both Pakistani and hotel security, and took these boxes directly to the fourth and fifth floors of the hotel — just where the fires mysteriously broke out.
Were the Marines loading the building with incendiaries? It certainly wouldn’t be the first time a building was primed by insiders for a subsequent "terrorist attack".
I wasn’t kidding in my prior post when I called the Marriot bombing "Pakistan’s 9/11". But I didn’t explain myself particularly well, either.
There’s a long list of similarities between the two attacks, including the rush by both politicians and the media to cast the event as "an attack on democracy", when in both cases the attacks came at critical times for governments which falsely claimed to have been legitimately elected.
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari can now claim to be in an all-out war against radical Islamic terrorists, and he may even be able to build up enough "political capital" to drag his nation in a direction in which it doesn’t wish to go.
As usual, the attack has been followed by a barrage of media nonsense, such as a report from the Financial Times which says men with ties to al Qaeda have been arrested in Pakistan in connection with the Marriot bombing.
Pakistani investigators yesterday said they had found new evidence of al-Qaeda’s involvement in the suicide truck bombing of Islamabad’s Marriott hotel. Intelligence officials also reported the arrest of up to five militants in connection with planning attacks [...]
According to an intelligence official, two of the five arrested men "came with conclusive evidence of close links to al-Qaeda. Their connection to the militant group is beyond any doubt."
Let’s see now: The police are arresting members of one group while another group claims responsibility. Does this not undermine the claims of the police?
If you were tripped up by this little bit of logic, you must be a Democrat, since according to the Republicans, the Democrats have failed to learn the lessons of September 11th, 2001.
And the primary lesson from September 11th, of course, is that logic, evidence, and science are all past their prime.
Therefore, we don’t use forensic evidence to solve crimes anymore; we label the crimes acts of war, destroy the forensic evidence, and attack defenseless countries instead. For revenge. Or something.
If you believe that this massive bombing attack was perpetrated by a Pakistani terrorist group that the Pakistani government has never even heard of, then it’s not much of a stretch to believe that this hitherto-unknown group must have hitherto-unknown ties to al Qaeda, as well.
As the AP reported (via the Toronto Star):
Interior Ministry chief Rehman Malik said "all roads lead to FATA" in major Pakistani suicide attacks – referring to Federally Administered Tribal Areas, where U.S. officials fear Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda No.2 Ayman al-Zawahri are hiding.
And there you have it; it doesn’t matter who did it; it doesn’t matter who claimed responsibility; it doesn’t matter why Marines were acting mysteriously (and evading security) in the building shortly before it was attacked; it doesn’t matter what evidence is collected during the investigation; it doesn’t even matter whether there is an investigation.
What matters is that the media and the politicians have already decided who’s going to be blamed, and who’s going to pay the price. And once again — just like 9/11 — it won’t be the perpetrators.

remember a few weeks ago when the pakistani’s warned the Unites States against striking inside the border? they explicitly said they would retaliate. is anyone surprised at this bombing. Frankly, I’m not convinced it was “not” done by our own dirty ops program to make it look like a terrorist hit. There is absolutely nothing that our shadow government is not capable of doing while all the while deflecting blame on someone else.

to patriot#3. I’m sure you are truly a patriot to this country but my question to you would be this. do you believe that President Bush is a patriot based on his actions…………..not just his words? And,is he a patriot to the world order or just the United States. Last time I looked he took an oath to protect this country from enemies both foreign and domestic. we certainly have an abundance of domestic enemies located on Pennsylvania Avenue and it’s surrounding community. on the Bush being a patriot question………….. my money is on the he is a patriot to the world order becasue he sure as hell acts like it.

The Mariott bombing and fire were caused by CIA operatives: whether you call them Al Quaeda, Mossad, or anything else. All right, so a “little known” group had pulled that megastunt in front of the Marriott. Of course, they were so well equipped and had such an organized network that they knew that the Pakistani govt would be there holding a conference. Sure, sure. Get over it folks, total inside job.
did you notice that the supposed bombing video doesn’t actually show the blast, only how the truck is on fire? How it did not break thru the barrier?
And then we have this huge, massive crater hole in the ground. I remember Tom Clancys novel Clear and Present Danger where he talked about a special bomb with a cellulose shell which doesn’t scatter any shrapnel but desstroys with its blast. In the novel, the US mil drops that bomb right down into the truck of a drug lord to make it look like the truck was loaded with explosives.

Here’s MY question… if our intelligence agencies have spent all these years investigating terrorist activity, how could they possibly miss a bomb gathering of such magnitude? No one can convince this listener/reader that I could pull off such an act without suspicion long before the dirty deed. Our mainstream media is clearly feeding us pablum.

Its a real simple sinario people. The US bombed the Marriot. Look at all the signs
1. US wants Pakistan to join forces with them and Afganistan to fight terrorists in both Pakistan and Afganistan, Pakistan is reluctant to join
2. US can not out right attack Pakistan because they are suppose to be Allies and it will then expose the US government and thier plans so they must covertly push Pakistan away from being thier Allies through scaring the Pakastini heads
3. Pakistani heads know about this so they set up a fake diner at the marriot and put the bug in minds of the US forces
3.5. The Pakistani heads then change plans without telling anybody, to meet up for dinner at the Primeminsters house down the road. This way to watch the fire works and see if thier theory is correct about the US government trying to destroy the partnership with Pakistan through covert ops
4. Marines enter the building with boxes and go to the 4th and 5th floor
5. Bomb goes off
6. 4th and 5th floors are the only one with fires. (HMMMM whats in those boxes)
7. A new terrorist organization takes claim and threatens the Pakistani government to stop assisting the US forces and to not join forces with them (scare tactic to end the Alliance)
8. Reports from Marriot workers yesterday report that reservations for Pakistani government were never made. This shows that the Pakistani government was one step ahead of the culprits.
Put the pieces together and the puzzle makes sense. If I didn’t make my time line clear enough then I will be more than happy to clarifiy them for everyone

C”MON…..From what I can tell, we don’t have any real reporters that are smart enough to figure that out so quickly. And to believe for one moment that this was done under the watch of domestic and foreign intel w/o them knowing about it is totally UNbelievable to me. This by no means is an in depth study nor is it an official analysis but simply a few of my observations;
a) Search google images for pictures of the hotel immediatley after the ‘truck bombing’ or go to http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/pak istan/3042007/Islamabad-Marriott-hotel-bomb-attack -captured-on-CCTV-says-Pakistan.html
or see the attachment.
b)in the foreground you will see some white arched structure on the ground floor which, I assume, is the entrance lobby based on photographs from Marriot Hotel website. This area has sustained some superficial damage, no structural or extensive physical destruction.
c) You will notice that more of the damage has occured to the main part of the building which is to the rear of the site (it’s on fire and damaged from the inside!).
d) Open google earth and navigate to the Marriott Hotel site in Islamabad. Type in Evacuee Trust Complex Building, Islamabad, Pakistan. The Marriott is to the left of this site.
e) from photographs and descriptions in articles you can roughly locate the postion of the ‘20ft deep and 50ft wide crater’
f) using the measuring tool in Google Earth plot the distance between the ‘crater’ and the white arched entrance lobby. You will find the distance to be between 15-18 meters. Now measure the distance between the ‘crater’ and the main part of the building which is on fire – almost 40 meters away!!
g) Suspicious I hear you say, Well I’m no Sherlock but I’m having difficulty piecing together a few facts which have arisen;
1 – What type of explosion leaves a crater ‘20ft deep and 50ft wide’ yet doesn’t destroy the entrance lobby only a few meters away?
2 – Does the explosion jump through space where the crater is in one area but the effects are felt elsewhere? (Maybe the LHC proton bashing had something to do with this!)

Good story. I’m wondering IF PERHAPS that crater was caused by a Cellulose cased missile aimed at a ‘painted’ target – truck bombs have a habit of exploding up and out rather than down as deep as was shown – we may never know.

OK, I get it. After looking closer at this site, I have come to the conclusion that not all people should have internet access. Especially those that are easily swayed in their thinking … “Shucks if people are that stupid and gullible; I could form my own organization and get incredibly wealthy, as I could call it …” Exactly my point. You can! I find sites like this more harmful than helpful. IN response to this article, I must say I agree with most of the observations concerning the suspiciousness of events surrounding the hotel bombing.
Something else that stood out was the authors preconceived notions about the reader. If you’re wondering what I’m refering to, see the paragraph about democrats and republicans.
The author here makes assertions about who I am idealogically, as the reader, based on my understanding of the text. This current trend of divisive politics is counterproductive to the effort of helping others come to see the truth. It turns people away. As to how I am going to respond to evidence and observation that is presented logically, does it really matter what political affiliation I am? Rather, it matters if I am desiring to know the truth, do I ignore it or investigate it.
The Idea of taking sides in the political realm has divided people left and right so that we can no longer function as a whole based solely on names and titles. Let us put the false fighting of this two party system out of our thoughts, consider instead what is true and good; fight for that.
