Italian president and media baron Silvio Berlusconi said today that he would use his country’s imminent presidency of the G8 group to push for an international agreement to “regulate the internet”.
Speaking to Italian postal workers, Reuters reports Berlusconi said: “The G8 has as its task the regulation of financial markets… I think the next G8 can bring to the table a proposal for a regulation of the internet.”
Italy’s G8 presidency begins on January 1. The role is taken by each of the group’s members in rotation. The holder country is responsible for organising and hosting the G8’s meetings and setting the agenda. Italy’s last G8 presidency in 2001, also under Berlusconi, was marred by riots at the annual meeting in Genoa.
Berlusconi didn’t explain what he meant by “regulate the internet”, but the mere mention of it has prompted dismay among Italian commentators. Berlusconi owns swathes of the Italian mass media.
The left-wing newspaper L’Unita wrote: “You can not say that it is not a disturbing proclamation, given that the only countries in the world where there are filters or restrictions against internet are countries ruled by dictatorial regimes: those between China, Iran, Cuba, Saudi Arabia.”

This is the FACE of the NEW WORLD ORDER.
They are now trying to take over the world,
and that means taking us down.
The major force that has propelled their process forward
so quickly has been the internet.
DOWN WITH THE EU AND THE NWO. END THE FED
December 4th, 2008 at 4:50 pm
Incredible, yet completely predictable: any police state/dictatorship needs to control the information flux to the sheople. The internet is a serious challenge to them and I argue that this could probably be the thing that could either make or break the NWO. If they succeed, we will plunge into the darkest age mankind has ever seen, no overstatement. We will have become a people stripped away of its humanity, indulging in all that satisfies our selfish, pointless desires and ceasing to be the creative mind that is the very essence of man.
I cannot and will not let this happen and am comforted by the many people on the internet that feel the same way. Really, it’s encouraging to see that the “human spirit of freedom, truth and justice” is still out there. No matter how hard we’ve been hit by the NWO.
I’ll end this rant by simply saying: please, don’t lose your humanity. Fight the NWO!

No matter what you call it there is no doubt about an intelligence behind our magnificent programming. Just as sure as something designed and made the chair you’re sitting in, something programmed the DNA that runs the most complex machine ever made, called your body.
Do your thoughts cause your feelings?
December 4th, 2008 at 7:19 pm
KJ, God is real, we’re just separated from Him because of our sin. That’s why we need Jesus as our personal Saviour. He died for our sins.
“But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” (Isaiah 59:2)

Control your information, control your mind. Under what authority? His own? Fascism. Give the man a burst of 20.
December 4th, 2008 at 8:02 pm
ok no surprise they want to stop people getting free information, i can’t wait to see what they will come up with… a few predictions : create some sort of association that you have to join and pay a fee to publish a blog, put a filters on contents so that websites like this will be obscured, track all the ip addressess, as they already do, repression repression repression. that’s the future of the internet. it’s not fun and honestly i don’t see at the moment a way to stop it different from direct organized action. one more thing : i’m italian, please don’t identify this old rich cunt with italian people, he doesn’t represent the population, just like G W Bush, Obama or any other president. No so called leadership represent the people, it never happened it’s just a wrong concept that people like to buy so they don’t have to care about “important issues” . i read some comments about italians, fascism, and even roman empire… we should all drop these nationalistic appeals if we want to step out of the cage they re building around us. That man can’t go anywhere in italy without the army watching his back, he s got a big SHOOT ME sign on his forehead and he knows, and someone soon or later will do what it needs to be done.

I posted my comment and saw it and then it was taken off the list. Is it possible it can be set back in place so the people can have the knowledge and understanding from the Living god to see the danger they are in? thank you joedr@theriver.com

All I can say is “Fuck him”…..
December 5th, 2008 at 1:24 am
It wont be regulation, it will be regestration. The recent Italian court ruling on bloggers not being allowed because they are not registered by bureaucrats is their method. That was their test case, and it flew.just like our guns- they cant take them so they will tax and mandate ammunition sales and identification coding.
there not coming there here — buckle up and prepare

Quit arguing & sniveling. You sound like a flock of SHEEP! It’s NO secret that the world governments want to control the internet. Control of information is one of their primary weapons for the control of the people. Any treaty has to be ratified by Congress. Congress is still elected. Get active NOW. Start writing your elected representitives, while you still have the right to petition the government. If your elected official doesn’t act the way you want, THROW THE ASSHOLE OUT! If Congress fails to act responsibily, find out how to REMOVE THEM FROM OFFICE! Remember WE are the government, not them. They need to be reminded that they SERVE US, not the other way around.

I am from Europe but almost never agreed with other Europeans on anything. I believe taxes and gun control have no right to exist, so you can imagine how my views are popular among the eurotrash. I start using this word without remorse. I used to approve some of Berlusconi’s measures, when he cut taxes, for instance. But now I realize he’s just a little less creepy than leftists.
Pack a gun and pay no taxes.
December 5th, 2008 at 7:34 am
No doubt the regulations will favor his own media properties. Scum.
December 5th, 2008 at 7:42 am
Smels like Mussolini, fascist dog berlusconi, stay from the fucking internet, fucking nazi creep.
December 5th, 2008 at 8:12 am
Apparently Fascism still rules in Italy.
No wonder 85% of Euroland civilians do no want the European Union.
Vote no to the European Union in May.
Yes to strong independent Nation states.

December 5th, 2008 at 10:06 am
Why would anyone elect a media mogul as president. That would be like us electing Rupert Murdoch as president. The Italians were just asking for trouble electing this clown
December 5th, 2008 at 2:31 pm
Google wont let this happen, not on a global scale
December 5th, 2008 at 11:21 pm

The only faith I hold is in that of intelligent, independent thinkers. If we have to, I’ll lay my own cables. We can write our own protocols too!
December 8th, 2008 at 5:32 am
they wil create their own version of the internet, for free and accessable averywhere. to be used for brainwashing just like the media, and as most people cant afford internet or find it expensive….. what you think they wil use?
