Bernanke Tells Obama Banks Need More Money

LONDON: The chairman of the U.S. Federal Reserve, Ben Bernanke, warned here Tuesday that the highly unpopular job of using taxpayer money to bail out financial institutions in the United States and other countries was far from over.

One day after President-elect Barack Obama asked Congress to free up the second half of the money for the Treasury Department’s $700 billion financial rescue program, Bernanke cautioned that banks and other lending institutions were still not functioning properly and would probably need additional money.
“More capital injections and guarantees may become necessary to ensure stability and the normalization of credit markets,” Bernanke said during a speech at the London School of Economics. Though the Fed chairman acknowledged that people in many countries were “understandably concerned” about pumping government money into the financial industry while often turning a cold shoulder to other sectors, he defended the effort as unpleasant but necessary.
“This disparate treatment, unappealing as it is, appears unavoidable,” Bernanke said. “Our economic system is critically dependent on the free flow of credit, and the consequences for the broader economy of financial instability are thus powerful and quickly felt.”

I say we round up all the billionaires we have in our country and force them to pay for the economic problems we are having. Its not that hard to figure out that sense we have so many rich people in our country (CEOs, Operah, Bill Gates, so on) that they are hurting the economy because they have to much money thus the government has to print out more money for the common folk which in turn causes the dollar to decrease.

So the way I see it, nothing was resolved with the first half of the TARP. Probably nothing will be resolved with the second half. How can a measly couple hundred billion dollars make up for TRILLIONS lost in bogus/virtual investments?
It’s futile, but I fired off an email to my congressman yesterday and told him to can the fed and stop with the foolishness. I’m sure it made it’s way directly to the trash bin.
I also made sure my 12ga is in good working order.

I think it was Paulson that was asked how much savings he had, or something like that and he gave an evasive answer like “I don’t know, I have to find out where they put it”. I think we should all get to see his balance sheet for all his savings. See if some of our tax dollars found its way into any of his accounts.
What on earth do they plan on doing with all these billions they have? You can’t take it with you when you die and you won’t need it in heaven or hell.
Personally, I just want enough to be able to pay my bills and groceries and have a little left over; I don’t think that is asking for too much.

What do you all expect? The govt. has been on autopilot for decades. Our monetary system has been a big scam since it’s inception.
Really what would be good is if every regular working person in America came together to help each other, and ignore the govt. We could take the country back thru understanding and charity. Times are fixing to get real bad real quick, lets not panic.
It can start on the local level, in your community. If you live in a rough neighborhood with nothing but selfish people that want what you have, then move. Lazy people are the ones that will die first, because they will either do nothing, or come to steal what you have, and get a shotgun blast to the gut. It’s a sad fact, but unless we come together as Americans, that realize that we have been dup’d, then we will become savages out for ourselves only.

everyone realizes this is just paying off a credit card with another credit card, isn’t that illegal? congress is no longer representing the people. this is crazy, why they do just give money directly to consumers so consumers can buy more products to jump start economy ? They give it to banks increasing our national debt .It is not going to do any good if people are pushed to extreme poverty and can not buy anything . Banks end up having trillions in cash they can not really use without causing huge inflation .
