Bill Clinton appeared to confuse the nations of Iraq and Iran while stumping for his wife Hillary Thursday night.
“She got those sanctions on Iraq, which required China and Russia to sign off so everybody could enforce them,” he said. “Even I didn’t think she could get them, but she did.”
Clinton was thinking of Iran as the country with sanctions, not Iraq.
The conservative tracking group America Rising flagged the clip, noting Clinton “has lost a few miles an hour from his fastball” on the trail for Hillary.
In January at one stop in New Hampshire, Clinton didn’t mention his wife, the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination, once in the final two minutes, but he did take time to wax poetic about the 14th president, Franklin Pierce.
