Editor’s note: Ron Paul appeared on the Alex Jones Show today and announced the bill now has 209 sponsors.
At time of writing, a bill that would see the Federal Reserve bank audited for the first time in 59 years has 207 cosponsers in the House and is gaining traction with every single day.
This means just 11 more are needed for a majority to be reached in the House.
If enacted, HR 1207 will amend title 31 of the United States Code and reform the manner in which the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System is audited by the Comptroller General of the United States.
In other words, for the first time since 1950, the the independent financial powerhouse that creates and regulates all money in the US will be forced by law to open its books.
HR 1207 was sponsored and introduced by Rep. Ron Paul. On February 26, 2009, it was referred to the House Committee on Financial Services, where it remains under consideration.
HR 1207 also has a companion bill, S 604: F R Sunshine Act of 2009, in the Senate.
This news also dovetails with reports detailing how the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, the panel responsible for investigating the use of bailout money, has issued a subpoena to the Federal Reserve, asking them to hand over all documents relating to the takeover of Merrill Lynch by the Bank of America.
Claims by New York Attorney-General Andrew Cuomo that former Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke strong-armed BofA into buying Merrill, could see the two exposed to prosecution.
There is no doubt that the privately owned Federal Reserve is in hot water, and it knows it.
As we reported last week, the Fed is hiring a veteran lobbyist to “manage its relations with Congress”. According to a Reuters report, the Fed plans to hire Linda Robertson, who previously worked for now-defunct energy company Enron, as well as the Clinton administration.
It is also no coincidence that the End the Fed movement has recently been targeted by smear campaigns. The MIAC report cited Ron Paul supporters as potential extremists and the United States Army Reserve Command issued “mitigation measures” in response to End the Fed demonstrations around the country last year.
Ron Paul recently explained to Forbes why the passage of HR 1207 is so important:
The Federal Reserve’s recent and unprecedented actions in the realm of monetary policy have provoked a backlash among the American people. Trillions of dollars worth of loans and guarantees have been provided to Wall Street firms, while Main Street Americans suffocate under harsh taxation, the prospect of higher debt levels and increasing inflation. These events have awakened many Americans to problems with the Fed’s loose monetary policy, the bubbles it has created in the past and the potential hyperinflation it might cause in the future.
One of the fallacies of modern economics is the idea that a central bank is required in order to keep inflation low and promote economic growth. In reality, it is the central bank’s monetary policy that causes inflation and depresses economic growth. Inflation is an increase in the supply of money, which in our day and age is directly caused or initiated by central banks. All other things being equal, inflation results in a rise in prices. A so-called “mild” rate of inflation of 3% per year leads to a 56% rise in prices over a 15-year period. Even a “low” rate of inflation of 2% per year leads to a 35% rise over that same period. How is that conducive to long-term growth?
A common misconception is that the Fed is completely independent of political pressures. While the Fed has far too much authority to make agreements with foreign governments and central banks, or create temporary liquidity facilities, the governors and–more important–the chairman, are appointed by the president.
If passed, HR1207 will ensure that the Fed make public the destination of the trillions in taxpayer “loans” that have been simply handed over to private banks without oversight.
Bernanke will be seated before Congress and forced to answer these questions instead of worming his way out of them, citing “extraordinary circumstances” and the like, as we have seen him do over and over for the past eight months.
The bill, if it becomes law, will expose how the Fed has consistently engaged the inflation of the currency for the gain of a few elite international bankers, further exposing how this kind of criminal action has directly led to financial crises and recessions for decades.
An audit would set the stage for the end of the Federal Reserve and a return of honest money and fiscal policies.
Indeed, Jim Grant, editor of Grant’s Interest Rate Observer, today told CNBC that the Fed’s balance sheet is “so out of whack” that the central bank would be shut down if subjected to a audit.
“In essence, the bill requires an audit of the Fed’s activity which shall be made available to Congress,” wrote Glenn Greenwald recently. “What possible arguments exist against this bill? Who opposes an audit of the Fed’s activities and why?”

The federal reserve stole American families’ gold which is what we need to get back before shutting down that fake reserve which has no reserves. There should be a bill introduced to have our gold returned to Ft. Knox.

Perhaps getting back our gold is in the works of this auditing of the FedRes.

yes but gold standard currency is actually nonsense nonetheless.
if interest still exists, or rather, if hoarding money will be convenient…
since money is the lifeblood of economy.
but even if we have something like “free money” (look up in wiki)
this can´t work with gold as the backbone.
but what we first need to do 0is simply to give the public the power to issue the currency.
that would solve loooooooooots of problems.

On the surface it all sounds great, a step in the right direction but I still don’t trust any of this. I like Ron Paul and his good intentions but I guess I’m just too cynical to believe anything good will prevail. Possible smoke and mirror stunt.

Everyone knows the Federal Reserve is the agency that the IRS works for. When this audit comes about, which i doubt, will we get to see how much Alex Jones contributes to it via his income tax payments. By the way, thats why I will no longer buy anything from Alex Jones. Becasue he will give a portion of that money to the Federal Reserve banksters via his 1040 form payments. Alex is such a htpocrite. The real people like William Cooper are dead because they stood up to the system. Not Alex. Alex is all false bravado IMO.

==================================
It is the month of August, on the shores of the Black Sea. It is raining,
and the little town looks totally deserted. It is tough times, everybody is
in debt, and everybody lives on credit.
Suddenly, a rich tourist comes to town.
He enters the only hotel, lays a 100 Euro note on the reception counter,
and goes to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one.
The hotel proprietor takes the 100 Euro note and runs to pay his debt to
the butcher.
The Butcher takes the 100 Euro note, and runs to pay his debt to the pig
grower.
The pig grower takes the 100 Euro note, and runs to pay his debt to the
supplier of his feed and fuel.
The supplier of feed and fuel takes the 100 Euro note and runs to pay his
debt to the town’s prostitute that in these hard times, gave her “services”
on credit.
The hooker runs to the hotel, and pays off her debt with the 100 Euro note
to the hotel proprietor to pay for the rooms that she rented when she
brought her clients there.
The hotel proprietor then lays the 100 Euro note back on the counter so
that the rich tourist will not suspect anything.
At that moment, the rich tourist comes down after inspecting the rooms,
and takes his 100 Euro note, after saying that he did not like any of the
rooms, and leaves town.
No one earned anything. However, the whole town is now without debt, and
looks to the future with a lot of optimism..
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how the United States Government is doing
business today

You take it back in house so to speak so the government control their own money instead of a private bank, which means when they print money it won’t be add interest like it is now, which just creates dept as soon as it’s printed. The way it is now is why we have inflation and such a huge national debt. Prior to 1913 their was only really an increase in inflation during the civil war. Watch Freedom to Facism by Aaron Rouso, which explains it all or the intereview between Alex Jones and Aaron Rouso.

i have a few questions about this statement.
1.Are you saying the fed is better for the bankers or the people?
2.Correct me if im wrong, but I believe about 3% of our GDP is actual fiat currency in circulation. So for the income tax to do what you say is imposible.

Wow, I think you need to learn basic micro economics. You probably jerk off to Keynesian economics. The income tax shouldn’t even exist. I bet your a mindless drone who loves to pay his taxes and believes the income tax is needed to prevent hyper inflation. Hyper inflation is caused by the fed blindly printing notes. If we printed our own notes (even if it’s not backed by anything), there is no need for the income tax. Are you still with me? The income tax was created after the Federal Reserve Act was passed. Since your probably unaware, the Federal Reserve Act created the Federal Reserve. They print money which is essentially debt. The print money for the treasury and charge interest for it. The only way to pay the debt owed by the US government to the Federal Reserve is the income tax. Hope that wasn’t too hard to understand.
So our income taxes taken from our paychecks are to pay debt to the Federal Reserve, owned by private bankers, that was borrowed by us. Why do we need a private cartel of bankers controlling the monetary policy, printing money causing inflation, and then giving the money to their wall street buddies, and then all of us pay the debt on the borrowed money for fascist wall street parasites.
We can have congress create money that’s not even backed by gold (gold is better since it would prevent inflation). If congress created the money we wouldn’t be borrowing it from a private enterprise like the Fed and therefore wouldn’t have to pay interest. I know the interest rate is zero now, but that’s because they are in serious trouble. Why do we need to pay interest on our own money that’s printed from paper.
Give me stock in the Fed then. Let’s see, the ink and paper for a $100 bill costs 3 cents. The fed then says, pay me back the $100, plus interest.
Wow, even without interest there profit is $99.97 for giving a $100 dollar bill and all it cost them was 3 cents.
I need to get a printing press and start lending it to you mindless sheep. If you love the system, take my bills. Don’t worry I’ll give you a good interest rate, moron.

Im no economist but there are several options that I have heard that seem like feasible solutions. A copper based currency as mentioned by MAD DOG is not a bad idea. To quote Patrick S J Carmack creator of the film THE MONEY MASTERS. “the secret is that money is only what people agree on to use as money”
A gold based currency could be an option as well, however gold is in short supply. The problem arises if it were horded. Then the money supply could be constricted by wealthy individuals (ie: the banksters). Gold could be used once again to control and enslave us.
A silver based currency would work much better. From what I have learned silver is 15 times more plentiful than gold, thus making it more difficult to horde, and creating enough money to facilitate trade, which is the sole reason for currency.
From my understanding a coin of silver or gold is of an assured weight and mass. It could not be tampered with. To test its mass all one would have to do is drop it in a liquid to observe its displacement and to weigh it one only need a scale.
A totally fiat based currency could work also, but only if those producing the currency could be held accountable for any unscrupulous behavior. A fiat currency in the hands of opportunistic manipulative bastards causes the problems we now experience today.
I highly recomend reading the book: The Creature from Jekyll Island and watching the movie: The Money Masters: How international bankers gained control of america. (you can watch it on google video, i must warn you it is long and to some it may be dry, however it is an excellent history lesson.)
Both have different solutions for an alternative currency. One advocates a gold BASED currency the other supports a totally FIAT currency. Both sources agree that a silver BASED currency is a good idea and that a gold STANDARD is a horrible idea.
CorpoGeist Reply:
June 10th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
I hear ya Rick, a fiat currency can work under the right conditions. However its creation can easily be taken advantage of by unscrupulous manipulative people. If systems were put in place where total accountability could be perpetually maintained, it could work.
MAD DOG settle down man, no policy is being set here, we are only discussing possibilites, noone is perfect and there are no perfect solutions to any problem. I doubt that even you are an economist, despite your IMO, the very good idea you offered up to have a copper based currency.

Yea, i looked at the tally system of old that worked for 800 years and as long as you can keep counterfeiting out of the equation fiat can work. You do need some kind of tax for this to work properly though. Otherwise it is useless. As long as we all agree to work for whatever kind of currency (the currency must be needed to pay something) then it is desired and will work. Otherwise it is gold or silver or something else rare. In any case there is no need to give the money changers 50% 60% and up for the right to print our own money. Yes they have the riches but since they should by law be considered ill gotten gains we take them back and start over.

The Congress could print new money. The main goal is to get the currency system out in the open and away from the private banks. America did have successful monetary systems before the Federal Reserve and it can have one again. We should also seize all Rockefeller owned properties around the world as well as all funds. Also freeze funds of the Lazard family and Rothschild family. It wouldn’t hurt to break ties with the Masonic State of Israel. We should probably ban Freemasonry all together in the US.

I hear and understand everyones apathy that nothing will change. Well, it may not. Don’t use it as an excuse not to do something. At least letting your rep know what you think, IS something! Then you can sit back and say “I tried”. But not doing anything and spreading negativity is wrong. If you haven’t voiced your opinion to your representatives, don’t voice it here!!!!!!!!!!

If this passes I bet Obama vetoes it. Of course if he vetoes it, it would ruin his presidency. It would be the smoking gun that should let everyone know he is a fraud.
June 10th, 2009 at 1:13 pm
Yeah right, I can see the headlines now: Congress passes bipartisan bill to Audit the Federal Reserve. Senate Passes bipartisan bill to Audit the Federal Reserve. President Obama vetoed a bill today that WOULD HAVE audited the Federal Reserve citing security reasons in the financial sector. EVERYONE…..KEEP DREAMING!

Im with Aaron Russo, Its hard to believe that we dont own our money….I say we just say… FUCK YOU!!!! to the federal reserve….(rothschilds). Just like Lincoln DID. Rothschilds tried to screw us back in 1861 too. Abe went to the Rothschilds for a loan to help the civil war… They said yes but at 36% interest… Lincoln was angered… So he Started printing the greenbacks ‘62 (demand notes)….. HERE WE GO AGAIN

Hmmmmm. And in a few short years, Abe gets taken out. Fast forward to 1963. JFK shuns the Fed (rothschilds) and begins printing money through Congress again… 6 months later… Pattern here?

On June 4, 1963,
On June 4, 1963, a virtually unknown Presidential decree, Executive Order
11110, was signed with the authority to basically strip the Federal Reserve
Bank of its power to loan money to the United States Federal Government at
Interest. With the stroke of a pen, President John F. Kennedy declared that the
Privately owned Federal Reserve Bank would soon be out of business.
The Federal Register and Library of Congress and can now safely
Conclude that this Executive Order has never been repealed, amended, or
Superceded by any subsequent Executive Order. In simple terms, it is still Valid.

My Representative signed because of me, and he told me so. I was the only person in his district to call and email him on this bill that first week. One man is an island, enough islands stand up, you got yourself a fucking audit. That’s bring these sonofbitches down. They’ve already broke us, and moved it offshore, that’s make sure their minions get a nice cushy cell in a federal prison for the rest of their lives. They’ve bled us out for sure, but even a dying man is dangerous when he latches a deathgrip around your scumbag, chicken necks. YOUR GOING DOWN WITH US YOU BASTARDS, NO YACHT CLUB IN THE COOK ISLANDS FOR YOU MOTHERFUCKERS. YOUR GOING TO DIE IN PRISON AND NEVER SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY! it makes no difference, anyway. If or when this bill is passed, the result will be a phony “audit” that comes to the conclusion that the Fed has done nothing wrong and everything will continue as it has since 1913.

June 10th, 2009 at 4:54 pm
Well what’s the plan for the nwo? World Bank, World Government and World Everything. So, crushing the FED is a logical step towards this goal. They might come with a big scandal about the FED to anger people, then as usual propose a solution. World Bank. I am very suspicious as why this bill is getting so much support in congress.

Wow! If the US Federal Reserve is exposed, it will be too cataclysmic to be ignored by worldwide media. All the other central banks will be exposed, too, and hopefully, they will be dissolved before we have to fight it out with governments. There is no european equivalent to Ron Paul’s transparency act, so it has to succeed in America in order to succeed here. Do it for yourselves and do it for the world.
Pack a gun and pay no tax.
June 10th, 2009 at 5:24 pm
Maybe we can have an audit and find problems and build a case. Just don’t trust the FBI with storing the evidence. We all know what happened to the ENRON records and file evidence. Turn over the video Tapes from 9/11 and Oklahoma city and after the dust settles we might begin to trust you. But then again I probably won’t.
June 10th, 2009 at 5:42 pm
Everyone knows the Federal Reserve is the agency that the IRS works for. When this audit comes about, which i doubt, will we get to see how much Alex Jones contributes to it via his income tax payments. By the way, thats why I will no longer buy anything from Alex Jones. Becasue he will give a portion of that money to the Federal Reserve banksters via his 1040 form payments. Alex is such a htpocrite. The real people like William Cooper are dead because they stood up to the system. Not Alex. Alex is all false bravado IMO.

I guess he could make himself a martyr like the Brown’s as they invited fed informants into their circle, speaking of bravado. Maybe he’d be more effective behind bars in a Federal Prison like Peter Schiff’s father? I’m sure GNC network wouldn’t have FBI, IRS, and Treasury agents freezing their bank accounts, and storming buildings with MP-5’s and flashbangs, the minutes Big Brother got a whiff. The guy has FBI and Secret Service in his office every other week. Alex Jones is crossing his T’s and dotting his I’s, and you would too, if you had an ounce of common sense. If you don’t pay federal taxes, and you actually have something to lose, your asking for commandos in guilly suits in your backyard. They love people like you. Next to unaffiliated drug dealers, your next in line for government hard-ons. Maybe you’ll see the whites of their eyes, before they come scurrying out of the bushes from all angles.

They dont think im crazy, they understand everything im telling them about the FED and they just say” Really, Huh, or HEH!. I felt livid inside when my eyes were opened.it strikes me that others dont feel the same. Don’t feel betrayed and ashamed of our government. The private entity. The government entity. You build a bank that costs 600 million dollars. you cut down trees to create paper. you build machines that cost 50 billion dollars to cut down trees. you build more machines to print more money. then the government creates more machines in orde rto print more money. Then they the corporations have to borrow from tax payers 50 billion dollars in order to pay the private companies. then thet have to buikld more banks that cost 14 trillions of dollars. then they have to hire more people and pay them 900 million more dollars and borrow more money to pay off foerign bankers. then they the government prints more money by hiring more people and having to borrow more money; in order to pay off the CEO”S. then they have to hire more people and spend another 14 biilons of dollars in order to plant trees. then they have to build more machines in order to plant more trees and hire more hlep with billions of doollars more of borrowed money. then they have to hire more people in order to build more businesses so they can sell more products that people dont need. then they have to build more stores more companies from coal. they have to cut down more trees and create more loans in order to spend more money in hiring more people. then they have to cut down trees and build more machines to print more money. then the government has to print more money expand government even more and hire less intelligent people to create more borrowed money. They have to cut down more trees. then hire more people pay them more of of billions of dollars then pay them trillions of dollars more to cretae more coal to create more olluting tetcnolog to print m,ore money and pay trillions of dollars more the the government in borrowed money tax payers. Then there is nothing left to produce because our resources on this planet is depleted completely

i want this bill to pass just as much as anybody else out there, but be careful what you wish for. if this bill does pass, watch out. do you really think one of the most if not the most corrupt agency the world has ever known is just going to hand over its accounting books with a smile? the bill gets passed and the fed will be like “f**k you guys”. thats when things turn for the worse. hello fema camps and northcom knocking at your door.

Is every one ready for the FED to be shut down? If you had a switch that whould shut down the FED, whould yoy push it? Depression is a kind word for what would happen to the country if the FED were to be abolished….I am not justifing them in any way, but they are the US’s bank, like it or not. The FED has the purse stings to the US treasury. Who do you think is bying all the 3, 10 and 30 year bonds to finance the massive debt we have borrowed in the last 6 months?…So just watch out for you wish for, inless you are ready to really sacrfice your way of life. do you think not having a job is bad, try not having a means to buy food or shelter for your family.

WHOA! Hold your horses people! The FED – supposedly the most diabolical creature from Jekle Island – was ALREADY audited back in the 1950s???
Then. everything was found to be fine and dandy right? Otherwise, how is it still running?
Something’s fishy here. We’re hoping they’ll be exposed and crumble.. but history suggests then, that another audit wont make a difference
