State mandates an unproven theory be taught as hard science because it is the politically correct thing to do.
Reading, writing and . . . global warming?
A Silicon Valley lawmaker is gaining momentum with a bill that would require “climate change” to be among the science topics that all California public school students are taught.
The measure, by state Sen. Joe Simitian, D-Palo Alto, also would mandate that future science textbooks approved for California public schools include climate change.
“You can’t have a science curriculum that is relevant and current if it doesn’t deal with the science behind climate change,” Simitian said. “This is a phenomenon of global importance and our kids ought to understand the science behind that phenomenon.”
The state Senate approved the bill, SB 908, Jan. 30 by a 26-13 vote. It heads now to the state Assembly. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has taken numerous actions to reduce global warming, but he has yet to weigh in on Simitian’s bill. Other Republicans in the Capitol, however, are not happy about the proposal.

“State mandates an unproven theory be taught as hard science because it is the politically correct thing to do.”
LOL, inaccurate and biased.
The theory is proven. Just check out any of the hundreds of peer reviewed articles written by climatologists from the IPCC, NAS, or AAAS. Proof isn’t confirmation in science, it’s just a reduction of uncertainty through experiments and calculations.

I swear to god if I can’t graduate from high school in time because I haven’t taken a class including some liberal global warming horses--- where NO ONE knows what EXACTLY is causing “global warming” even though it’s most likely just a weather pattern and humans are just causing 1-2% of it.. I mean what are we going to do… put a giant cork on top of the bloody volcanoes?

Peer reviewed doesn’t give anything any credibility anymore, example plenty of well debunked establishment papers on 911 that were “peer reviewed”. All the science in these groups is funded by the same people funding the global warming scam.
“Peer reviewed” is not a device of logic unless you consider professionals to be gods.
Its plainly obvious to anyone that watches “Global Warming or Global Governance” (free on video) that the only science involved in global warming is political science.
I say teach it but in a political science class.

Take away the public indocri…er, schools power to tax and then the parents can choose who will, and what they will, teach their children and then there’s no real argument for the government to step into.
P.S. It’s the sun…

You’ve got that right Dou Plumb, after all “peer reviewed” is now “paid review”.
Let’s hope they did drop the Critical Thinking courses from public schools where this one is concerned, but then again, students can always take to the Co-ed lavatories in California schools to
compare notes. So thankful (now) that my parents provided me with a private education.
