Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Department rolled out its newest weapon Tuesday: a 13-foot-tall, 35,000-pound BEAR.
- A d v e r t i s e m e n t
The $385,000 vehicle is encased in metal that is meant to withstand bullets. It was purchased with a Homeland Security grant.
The vehicle will be used by the Sheriff’s Office and Billings Police Department in tactical situations such as approaching a barricaded shooter. Manufactured in Massachusetts, one of the goals of the BEAR is for law enforcement to enter a volatile situation in the security of the vehicle, rescue those in need and protect others, and maybe even intimidate the bad guys.

Nothing to worry about, the BEAR has its issues, but for the price it would have better to buy something more useful than waste money on that thing. (Even if it was our tax dollars) We really need to demand FEMA funds be cut off.
Of all places in yellowstone to get a BEAR and waste such money? haha. Like the crime rate is really high there, what a joke.
The other odd thing is why buy such a heavy piece of machinery, it gets stuck very easily when it is offroad and can’t got where most trucks can do even in snow. No worries about that BEAR in Yellowstone, just a showpiece is all it is.

Sounds like protesters need to learn the art of making tank stoppers (large concrete and steel blocks used to block advancement of tanks). Sinkholes and quicksand may work well for this! We don’t have a lot of crime here. Other then a bunch of meth dealers and graffiti artist. This is just one new edition to our police force here. The cop cars are getting upgraded with $25,000 worth of equipment.
Cops travel in packs here and they are all over our small city most of the time. I watch them get behind innocent family vehicles and stalk them for city blocks. I have even seen them pull over people on bicycles. It’s getting nuts. They spent all that money and don’t even have a police chopper not that I know of anyway but when they do get one watch it will be like a Apache.
