Boehner: 9/11 Show Trial an “Irresponsible Decision”

Fox News tells us the “new” Republican party will save us from the “socialist” excesses of the Obama administration and the Democrats. Republicans are re-thinking their political strategy, we are assured, and embracing constitutional principles. Sarah Palin, the former statist governor of Alaska, is now cast as a Libertarian. Bilderberg attendee Rick Perry is portrayed as a principled constitutionalist. Glenn Beck uses his blackboard to instruct the Republicans on how to reaffirm the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
Meanwhile, on the so-called left, limousine liberals at MSNBC and CNN decry the “teabaggers” and declare the Republicans are enchanted by the growing mantra of less government and less government spending.
AG Holder announces the proposed trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in civilian court in New York.
It’s all a mirage. By and large stalwart Republicans remain neocons at heart. Most are unrepentant warmongers who do not have a problem jacking up the debt owed to offshore banksters so long as the money is used to bomb small and helpless Muslim countries. Violating the Constitution is not an issue so long as the high-tech surveillance grid is used to listen in on the satellite calls supposedly made by Muslim miscreants in far-flung caves.
At the center of the neocon philosophy of big government and its cherished war machine is the manufactured 9/11 fairy tale. It drives the cobbled together illusion that there are dangerous Islamic fanatics out there who hate us for our freedoms and are actively planning to attack us again.
House Republican Leader John Boehner stepped up to the plate today and defended the neocon GWOT. Boehner and the Republicans are against a plan announced by the Obama administration to bring Kahlid Sheikh Mohammed and four other Guantanamo Bay detainees to New York City for a show trial.
Obama, declared Boehner, is putting “liberal special interests before the safety and security of the American people” in deciding to bring the alleged 9/11 mastermind to the United States for trial in federal civilian court.
“The possibility that Khalid Sheik Mohammed and his co-conspirators could be found ‘not guilty’ due to some legal technicality just blocks from Ground Zero should give every American pause,” Boehner said. “These men are part of a global terrorist network dedicated to attacking America and civilization itself, and on that awful day nine years ago, they succeeded in killing nearly 3,000 innocent men, women, and children.
Boehner exploited a classic causality dilemma commonly stated as “which came first, the chicken or the egg?” How will we ever know if KSM and crew are guilty of attacking the United States if they are never brought to trial?
KSM and his band of fellow cave-dwellers were long ago convicted of criminal terrorism sans trial by the neocons and the government. They are guilty of “attacking America and civilization itself” because the government and the corporate media say so. If you raise the slightest suspicion there is something wrong with this official fairy tale — a Brothers Grimm story riddled with inconsistencies and fanciful presuppositions — or question the veracity of the official white wash report you are a nothing less than a scurrilous conspiracy theorist on par with KSM and crew.
Never mind many respected senior members of the military, intelligence services, and government have expressed significant criticism of the white wash report. You should also ignore John Farmer, former senior counsel to the 9/11 Commission, who said “the public had been seriously misled about what occurred during the morning of the attacks.” Farmer has accused the government of criminally agreeing “not to tell the truth about what happened.”
Boehner says putting the so-called perps on trial would revert to a “dangerous pre-9/11 mentality – treating terrorism as a law enforcement issue and hoping for the best.” The neocons argue that the Constitution — or for that matter, the Geneva Convention — do not apply to terrorists.

Moreover, the Constitution no longer applies to the American people, as the neocon regime of Bush the Lesser argued over and over. “Our office recently concluded that the Fourth Amendment had no application to domestic military operations,” states a secret Justice Department memo, dated March 14, 2003, referring to a document titled “Authority for Use of Military Force to Combat Terrorist Activities Within the United States.”
According to the government, there are now well over a million suspected terrorists in the United States. In September of 2007 the inspector general of the Justice Department reported the terrorist watch list had grown by 20,000 names per month.
Boehner and the Republicans want to make sure you never know if suspected terrorists are guilty or merely pawns in the neocon GWOT. In May, the U.S. House Republicans introduced H.R. 2294, the Keep Terrorists Out of America Act, which would block the transfer or release of the Guantanamo Bay terrorists into the United States. Boehner introduced the bill.
Maybe Boehner will introduce a Make Sure Suspected Terrorists Never Get a Fair Trial bill soon.
At any rate, Obama’s ploy to bring suspected terrorists to the United States and put them on trial is a parlor trick. If the Democrats manage to pull off their public trial ruse, KSM and crew will certainly not get a fair shake.
Any plan for terrorism trials in federal courthouses would face extraordinary difficulties, according to lawyers. “Much of the evidence is classified, and key witnesses are reluctant to testify. Government secrets can be spilled. Litigation can be expensive and stretch for years. Security is a nightmare,” the Washington Post reported in March when suspected al-Qaeda sleeper agent Ali Saleh Kahlah al-Marri was indicted on criminal charges.
It’s all about keeping the GWOT — now in possession of Democrats — front and center. It has nothing to do with justice American-style.
It is also about ending the controversy surrounding KSM and the others. How best to get rid of the problem? Get rid of KSM and crew the same way the government got rid of John Muhammad, the convicted Beltway sniper.

Is it just me or is Obama showing sympathy towards the possible outcome for these individuals? It almost looks like a person talking about a close relative that died.. Seems deeply sad that a Muslim faces death.
I also noticed he said “The American People, and his administration seek these punishments” No mention of how he feels verbaly at all, but for me his emotional responce speaks VOLUMES!!

Any jury who sits on these cases will hopefully contain at least a few folks intelligent enough to be aware of the treason perpetrated against our republic. All they’ll have to do is persist in the vote to aquit and the rest will eventually see the light. The ideal situation would be for a juror to be highly educated enough as to the rights and powers of a jury to be elected foreman, and it would all be over for the traitors. Not only could the foreman insist on hard evidence,(which, by the way, nearly all points to the true perpetrators) but he would have an opportunity to rightly reccommend that charges be leveled at the real culprits, and as well find the defendants not guilty, thereby reclaiming our country’s moral standing in the eyes of the world, and letting millions of people worldwide know that our country is not finished, not by a long shot.
Now you know why all these neo-cons are up in arms about the so-called show trial.

The media will follow the trial obsessively. This will be all over the media to keep reminding the American people (sheeple) of what happened on 9/11, and that it was Muslim terrorists that did it. This way they can keep the American sheeple mad at the Muslim world, and the sheeple will not grow tired of the Afgan and Iraq wars, and demand that we end the wars.

Children are not taught the same American history as I had been taught, and I am only in my late 30’s. Yesterday afternoon, Justice Edward Lehner of the State Supreme Court rubberstamped Referee Louis Crespo’s recommendation that the decision to establish a local commission to investigate the events of September 11th not be put before the voters on November 3rd.
After showing interest in weighing both sides’ arguments in the hearing, the Judge’s short decision gives no indication of having considered the arguments put forth in the Petitioners’ memorandum of law, nor any acknowledgement of the need for a new investigation, which the City of New York callously dismissed as “irrelevant”.
On a dark day for democracy, the patriotic call for answers by hundreds of 9/11 families, first responders and survivors has been stifled, and the will of the people of New York City once again denied.
Judge Lehner ruled that modifying the petition to make it “legally permissible” would result in it being “inconsistent with the law sought by the signatories of the Petition” despite the fact that all 80,000 signatories agreed by signing the Petition that “If any provision of this law is held to be unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remaining provisions shall be in no manner affected thereby but shall remain in full force and effect.”
The deadline for inclusion on the ballot falls just before the election, making it possible to appeal Judge Lehner’s decision. NYC CAN is weighing all options and will make an announcement early next week on this issue, as well as on how it will be moving forward on other fronts. Regardless of the outcome in court, the quest for answers continues full throttle. This fight is only the beginning.

With 10% unemployment in your country, you need to have a nationwide strike in every workplace in the country. Once the revenue stops flowing in from taxes, then they will listen. Can everyone put 2 weeks salary together and stay home? Or the bigger question, -would- we all stand together and make that scarifice as one unit? It would be an all or fail proposition, but one that would be sure to bring the govt. to her knees and let them know who finances this whole operation in the process. ’tis a good thinbg that these suspects are being treated as alleged criminals for it is a crime of which they are accused.
To be found guilty then then the prosecution must provide evidence as to their guilt.
If they are foiund guilty, I look forward to hearing waht that evidence might be. (Confessions extracted under torture can not be admissable evidence)
I hope for a fair trial. By ‘fair’, I mean a trial in which all available evidence for both the prosecution and the defense is presented in an objective manner.
If, as so often happens in such cases, evidence for the defence is is deemed to be inadmissable on the grounds of national security, then suspects should be freed. Half a defence is no defence.
So long as the trial is one of integrity, being entirely objective, open and honest, I don’t mind what the verdict is.
One might suppose a full and independent enquiry might result if a not-guilty verdict is brought, but then on the other hand, perhaps a full and independent enquiry might be required in order to establish guilt.
Either way, I think this will open a whole can of w0rms which has remained sealed for far too long.
