Brazilian authorities have reached an agreement with rioting prisoners who have killed four other inmates and held two prison guards hostage.

According to Elson Faxina, a spokesman for the Parana state attorney’s office, an agreement in relation to ending the uprising at the Cascavel city correctional facility had been signed on Monday and the prisoners were currently being transferred to another jail.

“After that, the two guards who were held hostage will be freed,” he said, adding that it still remained for police to enter the jail and assess the damage and find out if there are more victims.
