British Court Orders Singer Get “Medical Implant” for Drug Addiction

Pete Doherty, singer for the English indie rock band Babyshambles, has been ordered to have a medical implant to prevent the use of drugs, according to the Associated Press. Doherty appeared in a Stroud, western England court today where he entered a plea of guilty to heroin possession and driving without a license or insurance.
It is not specified what sort of implant the British state demanded the rock singer receive.
Naltrexone, an opioid receptor antagonist, is often used for heroin addiction. Some practitioners use a naltrexone implant placed in the lower abdomen. The implant has not been shown scientifically to be successful in “curing” the subject of their addiction.
Implants are used for “medication compliance reasons.”

Thank you to all trolls and patriots alike for using cuss words on this forum. The government “loves the children” of this nation too much to let them be exposed to such language. Internet 2 will impose fines on websites that allow such language to be used. It will be up to the website host to either pay the fines, pay a fee to allow x-rated content, or pay a moderator to censor your comments since you can’t seem to censor yourselves.
BTW 80% the so-called patriots who make valid, cogent points, and then throw in 3 or 4 cuss words, are paid or unpaid trolls. All they have to do is say something true, that you can agree with, then they pile on the vulgarity which will lead to this sites downfall, and you allow this to happen because you happen to agree with the statement they made.

Those who are offended by “vulgar” language don’t understand that some people use these words to emphasize emotion in their speech. Asking them to censor themselves in this fashion is asking them to willingly sacrifice their first amendment rights.

Um, the point of not cussing in my mind is that kids won’t have access to it. Schools and other institutions filter out websites that contain anything beyond a certain amount of profanity. As a B.A. of English, I have no problem with the use of what you consider “cuss words”. Words are words. The “offensive” material used by these “children” is there choice. So, we must comply with Federal intervention with our right to free speech in this matter of cursing. I agree that we owe it to AJ to censor ourselves more tightly if he asks, however, had he been hit with an actual fine I’m sure he’d adjust his software to mask or bleep curse words before posting each comment. That too would give compliance to keep him from being fined into oblivion or shut down outright. Though draconian laws should always be disobeyed and fought as one may, there are practical reasons for the “anti-cussers” to rear their heads. As for the article itself, ordering treatment has become an accepted thing for courts to do, which to my mind goes arbitrary to the court’s intentions and authority. They are to decide guilt or innocence and to punish or arbitrate a remedy, depending on criminal or civil jurisdiction. Why are we allowing courts to practice medicine in the first place? As always, once a small usurpation is accepted as ‘normal’, then they expand it until soon it’s unreasonable. I half expect that sooner rather than later a civil court will begin implanting devices of some kind to assure compliance with their orders and judgments.

Honestly people, what Alex is doing is great and all, but as stupid as people are these days things are going to have to settle themselves. The implant is a way of insuring that he takes his medicine, Naltrexone, daily. This drug is also known as Suboxone, and was basically designed to try and find a better replacement for Methadone, also used in opiate addiction. I find it worth noting that Methadone was first synthesized by Adolph Hitler’s personal doctor to try and get him and Goerring off the morphine/heroin.

It is true that methadone was invented by the Nazis, but it was because of a morphine shortage, not to get Hitler off of anything. That crazy bastard loved uppers, speed, what have you. Methadone has an opiate blocker already in it, so all it does is keep you from going through horrible withdrawl. That’s rather frightening. Though I’m against the government forcibly implanting anyone with anything, I have to also acknowledge the reality here. What could the government implant that would be more risky than the heroin he was willingly using? Not that that justifies this blatant violation of his human rights. I really feel bad for the British. You know, most all British I’ve spoken with are very anti-gun. At some point, I know they will finally realize just how precious firearms are. I think they’re getting closer to that point day by day. Really, they domesticated slaves. There’s simply no other way to view it. The only way people can truly protect themselves from these sorts of human rights violations is to have firearms. With that also in mind on another topic, listening to militia patriot radio I continue to hear something that troubles me. That being, the question of what sort of government the people want after a civil war were to be fought and won. I support the Republic and our Constitution, nothing else will be acceptable!

I think this is actually a pretty big deal. I agree with Okay? in that he needs to beat the addiction but the end does not justify the means. If it were an autonomous decision it would be a different case but it isn’t; the state is forcing an individual to undergo a medical procedure to change him from a deviant to a productive member of society, both of these labels are decided by the state. If this is allowed what would stop a state from simply reprogramming its citizens whenever a citizen “deviates?” This is so reminiscent of A Clockwork Orange i can’t believe it. To my knowledge the individual didn’t even kill someone with a large, phallic-like piece of porcelain… I can’t believe I have to say this: resist government mandated implants.

Without a victim there is no crime. that means drug use and sales, prostitution, polygamy , gay marriage etc. We need to educate ourselves on what freedom is . 1 more point when you need a permit or a license for something that means that you are asking for permission for whatever the license or permit is for. BUT, if you enjoy horrible depression, vomiting, shitting your pants (sorry virgin eared children), and spending all of your money on dope, then after you run out of money, selling all of your video games for more dope, then by all means, TRY IT! Theres no doubt you will like it. It’s impossible not to. Theres nothing like squeezing every drop of dopamine out of your brain in one shot. It’s very pleasant. But the IN-BETWEEN sucks. Going cold-turkey is near impossible for anyone who has used for any length of time, as your brain chemistry is changed from the forced dopamine production and your brain stops producing it by itself. That is why you need a drug like methadone or suboxone, or one of the mentioned implants, to give yourself any chance of successful recovery. And even that takes time. Any medicine is dangerous. But if used correctly and under a docs supervision there is no reason that these drugs cannot be successful. I used opiates, mainly heroin, for 6 years and have been on methadone for 4 years. I havent touched dope since i started on the methadone. And for those who are going to say it is “trading one drug for another”, i will save you the time. these drugs are slow acting and build up in your body, thus you only need to take it once a day, or even every other day. They dont get you high (if youre a user), they eliminate sickness, they keep you from putting yourself in bad situations (driving to get drugs or driving around with drugs), they release small amounts of dopamine over time allowing your brain to heal, and they fill up the opiate receptors in your brain so even if you DID relapse back to heroin or oxy, it wont work. And the implants are put in just below the skin and you can EASILY pick them out. Cuz they itch like a MOTHERFUCKER (sorry ear/eye virigns) and chances are you will discover thru constant scratching that you can pick them out.
Either way, the PROS far outweigh the CONS in any instance of opiate addiction. Sometimes you need someone, even if it IS a judge, to save yourself from “yourself”.

Not so much the opposite, from what I’ve read on such things. It blocks the brain’s ability to perceive the effects, to actually uptake the chemical. It works kind of like the opiate itself, binding to receptors that would normally be where the opiates would bind. That is what leads to higher, often radically higher doses both in the implant users and in addicts. An overdose occurs when the drug monopolizes too many of these binding sights in the brain for too long, shutting down involuntary functions like breathing, controlling heart rate, etc. At first, a relatively low dose creates a good ‘high’. When more sights are occupied longer from residual drugs, then you have to increase the concentration to get the same ‘high’. The same is true when the implant is present and active, binding sights are already occupied so it takes a massive and dangerous dose to get the ‘high’. But, we all know the court isn’t about curing anyone in reality. They want a ‘quick legal remedy’, so if the defendant is found guilty and is still dependent when the implant is in, without supervision and support an overdose is very likely, as is death.

Your first post I somewhat agreed with. Heroin is a bad drug because you cant walk away from it if you want to once you cross that line where without it you go through d.ts. THINK about this though, if all drugs were legal for adults only like alchahol and contributing to a minor gets you life in jail, you would have 1.4 billion a year not needed for the DEA budget, all of the gangs would be done with no drug money to buy their uzis, the prison system would save billions of your tax dollars. Why do child predators do two maybe three years, when drug offenders get ten to twenty five? The rich do all the drugs they want and the cops dont kick down their doors because they live in gated rich mansions where they have the privacy to do whatever they want. If you believe in any kind of god that created this earth, then you have to admit he made poppy and coca leaves just like apples and everything else. i have been a staunch opponent of illegal drugs AND mandatory minimum sentences for non-violent drug offenders, and I never said anything to the contrary. All child predators should be shot in dick at point blank with a 12 gauge. The illegal drug problem is a slippery slope. there are many other problems connected to it. but make no mistake about the creator, He is VERY evil. You cannot have good without bad. Sure g-d created poppies and apples in the same vein, and it says so in genesis. but he also created evil. this is so you can use the universe as a medium.
get rid of mandatory minimums. but until then, we have to deal with all of the ill that comes from drugs being illegal. and honestly, i love drugs. all of them. i have an extremely high tolerance, but heroin is impossible to NOT get addicted to. period. thats the problem. even if it were legal, and it basically is (in the form of pure oxycodone, Oxycontin), i dont know that id want people using it at free will. its just too damn pleasant. when you actually dont mind dozing off in the high speed lane going 80mph, then a drug is dangerous. Oxycontin is pharmaceutical grade heroin. Crush it up, snort it, and you will get higher then snorting heroin. Oxy is produced by scientists to be more efficient in attacking the same part of the brain as heroin (which is produced quite crudely) and I actually prefer snorting and banging OC compared to heroin. well, the original OCs, before PP lost their copyright.

When addicted to heroin there are only 2 things that happen.
1. You stop using it.
2. You end up dead. (Whether it be from overdose, or violence on the street trying to get your next fix)
Other people can argue, there is a third, that is getting locked up, but all that does is temporarily stop you from using it, because after you are released, it is up to you.
Best way to beat heroin addiction is cold turkey, why use another chemical to help assist you to stop using a chemical?
I should know, I was addicted to the substance for 10 years, and have been clean now for well over 6 1/2 years. At one time I was on methadone, which believe it or not is worse then heroin addiction in itself. When I did kick heroin, I also had to kick methadone, and I did this cold turkey, on my own (using will power alone).
All Naltrexone does is block the affects of the opiate/opioid. They use it at the ER and I believe EMT’s have it also to reverse the “overdose”
There is no miracle cure for opiate/opioid addiction.

just get him on methadone…its practically the same thing as naltraxone[subuxone,subutex all the same naltraxone] anyway[ but 60 times as expensive].you can’t get high on any narcotic while on meth or sub..i know all about both of them..i take methadone for chronic pain and have tried to get off it..forget it..they just put you on subuxone anyway..you can’t get off either of them unless your willing to go thru 30-60 days of hell and no sleep…$600 a month for naltraxone while methadone is $12 a month..he really needs to go thru the 3 days of heroin withdrawl and then QUIT for good and not be a slave to any drug..but if he just can’t stop the heroin use, methadone at least gives you a life..although you can basically forget about sex..but you can forget about sex with heroin use too or ANY narcotic for that matter….sorry Kate…

the only problem with going cold turkey is that you dont get a chance to change your life or your lifestyle. Sure you can lock yourself in a room for 3 days, but when you come out, what has changed? Methadone and Suboxone give you time to change your lifestyle, heal your brain, and get out of a viscious cycle. They arent easy to get off of, but if you had a dope habit for any length of time, your going to need time on these drugs to have successful recovery. I have been on methadone for 4 years, I was on 160mgs, and now I am down to 32mgs. It just takes time to detox. The WORST thing you can do is switch medication i.e. methadone to suboxone. If you take suboxone while methadone is in your system, it makes you deathly ill. Just take your time getting off the methadone. Go down im mgs until you feel uneasy, then level off and allow your body to catch up. I was going down 1mg a day for 30 days at a time and have felt fine. but every 30 days i would stop and let my body level off for a month or 2….im in no rush to get off the methadone….also, excercising (running/basketball) REALLY helps the sex drive and sleeping….but you may have known that already…..good luck.

The technology exists to screen cuss words. There are plenty of blogs where you will see f%$& etc.. The technology will make the poster extract the word before the submit button will work.
So this is an issue for the site administrator and Alex to fix or decide upon.
Many of the posters on this sight believe that the time for civility in speech, has passed.
By nature the Patriot crowd is not one that is comfortable being dictated to. Particularly in reference to Free Speech.
That should be a given if you are familiar with the issues discussed on this site. Free Speech does not mean you can say what you want unless it offends Chris Cudnoski.
I also think the site would be better received and, it is a better option to not cuss.
But Free Speech trumps my personal preference and yours. What ever happened to ” I dont agree with what you said, but I will defend your right to say it?

What happened to it was the fact that the issues covered by infowars are eyeopeners and represent our movement. This website is alex’s personal property. The Naltrexone will result in the person feeling very bad, extremely bad because it will block all needed opioid receptors that are needed anyway despite any drug use, so its going to ruin the person so severely he may have to commit suicide. that will screw him up in ways you cant imagine, all pleasure and all motivation and all feeling ok is dependent on the brain’s opioid receptors, not just opioid drugs.
