British Host Piers Morgan Calls US Constitution “Your Little Book”

Gun control enthusiast belittles founding document

In a tense interview with Breitbart.com editor Ben Shapiro last night on CNN, host piers Morgan called the US Constitution “your little book”, as he continued his tirade for gun control.

Shapiro presented the pocket version of the Constitution to Morgan, stating “I would really like to hear your policy prescriptions for what we should do about guns because you say you respect the second amendment. You know, I brought this here for you so you can read it. It’s the Constitution.”

After a short debate the two then exchanged the following words as Morgan picked up the Constitution and jabbed in Shapiro’s direction with it:

MORGAN: — on the American constitution and the second amendment. It’s exactly what you’ve tried to do. You come in, you brandish your little book, as if I don’t know what’s in there –

SHAPIRO: My little book? That’s the constitution of the United States. It’s our founding document, Piers.

MORGAN: I know what its your constitution.

SHAPIRO: Do you really?

MORGAN: I have been debating this for a long time.

SHAPIRO: Then you should read the second amendment again.

MORGAN: I know the second amendment. What I haven’t heard is one coherent reason why any civilian in America needs an an AR-15, military style, assault weapon. Tell me why you need one.

SHAPIRO: I told you, why the general population of America, law abiding citizens, need AR-15s.

MORGAN: Why do they need those weapons?

SHAPIRO: They need them for the prospective possibility for the resistance of tyranny. Which is not a concern today, it may not be a concern tomorrow.

MORGAN: Where do you expect tyranny to come from?

SHAPIRO: It could come from the United States, because governments have gone tyrannical before, Piers.

MORGAN: Do you know how absurd you sound?

Throughout the interview Shaprio accused Morgan of “bullying” tactics on the gun control issue and told him he was using the deaths of the children at Sandy Hook to “demonize people who differ from you politically”.

Morgan says he has respect for the Constitution, yet here he is on his own show blatantly belittling it, and by extension those who respect it. Morgan is not a unintelligent person, he knew exactly what he was saying and what effect it would have.

His words recall those of former president George Bush who was reported by Washington insiders to have described the Constitution as “just a goddamned piece of paper”.
