British Police Opening Thousands of Safe Deposit Boxes

Six suitcases packed with suspected gold dust and about £30m in cash have been found during searches of safety deposit centres in London, police say.

Detectives also found heroin and cocaine, evidence linked to child sex abuse and forged passports.
The Met Police believe criminals used the centres in Park Lane, Hampstead and Edgware to store criminal assets.
Armed police continue to guard the buildings as specialist officers search the 7,000 safety deposit boxes.
So far only a third of the boxes have been opened and the finds have also included a firearm, counterfeit currency, several works of Renaissance art and a substantial amount of high value jewellery.
Speaking after the raids Commander Allan Gibson said: “Search teams have been working around the clock to open all the boxes at the location and are progressing well, although we are likely to remain at the locations for some time yet.

This is why i ever leave money in the bank.Its like having the fox guard the chickens.I dont trust leaving money in the banks becous if they crash wallstreet.You can’t go get it out of the bank if it is closed and locked. After readinng this i think i would rather take my chances protecting my belongings and money my self. This article doesn’t give much background, guys. Sure, it sucks the police are raiding private safe deposit boxes, but apparently most of the boxes in question are rented by criminal rings, in which case they need to search the facility. Criminals are suspected of storing stolen art, drugs, guns, stolen jewelry, etc in these particular boxes, with the complicity of the safe management company. So it’s not just a grab, they have a reason to look (just as the police would want to come into your home to look around if there was a killer on the loose in your neighborhood). That said, I feel sorry for anyone who rents there that is NOT storing stolen art, drugs, or guns. It will probably take them weeks or months (if ever) to regain possession of their things, stored legally. And if they had cash, valuables, etc, there will be no way to prove what was there before the police took them. The police should not just take over the place and confiscate everything. It’s a touchy situation, but it seems to me the least invasive way to do this would be to have some police on guard there, and contact all the renters and have them come in to show the contents of their boxes to be legal. The people who don’t come in…are probably the crooks.

Or do the Police have a search warrant to look for something linked to an offence? and if it´s not what they are looking for linked to that case then they´ll simply return it to its owner or are they simply presuming that it all must be bent and therefore it all needs confiscating? Ah yes, let us not forget the patriot act. That allows our own criminal government to loot and pillage our “Not so” safety deposit boxes. If you are behind on your credit card bills or child support they might use that “ACT” to confiscate your possessions’ and repay the debtors. The police probably need that extra liquid cash to buy more paramilitary equipment (plus they can sell the drugs) for there local “out of control” citizens. Be advised that we are living on borrowed time and just enjoy it until they come to collect. With the Iraq war and looming Iran war none of this is going to matter soon. The government does not like it’s citizens to have over a certain amount of wealth, because you are then supposedly a threat to the government (government wants the wealth and no competition) and it is considered suspicious to have over a certain amount of wealth because that means you are not controlled by “the system”. Did you know you are placed on the terror watch list if you pay for an airline ticket in cash? Society is brainwashed to look down upon those who are smart enough to not have a credit card or bank account, and instead keep their wealth in the form of gold because they wish to not be in debt and want to have financial security. Allow me to refresh your memories (if you have forgotten) On April 1 of 2005, the Federal Occupational Government in the United States did just the same thing. There was a total media blackout on it and it was only discussed in the ‘dangerous’ Independent Media. Dig around yourself and find out about it if you were unaware. They even had a cute and catchy name for the project, which I cant remember at this moment. They had a neat pretext of ‘looking for drugs and terrorist materials’ or some such thing- but I think that its pretty obvious that they were looking for unregistered metal and other salable financial instruments. I wont even mention the last regime that did the same thing, but it came just after the night of the broken glass.

As an attorney, I advise my clients not to use safety deposit boxes. In one instance, I was involved in a will contest. We videotaped a safety deposit box with dozens of diamonds in it, essentially covering the bottom. Later, when the lawsuit resolved, the diamonds were missing, as was the bank’s log book. You guessed it – No remedy, by law, since the bank was legally immune. Not that they stole anything, but whomever they allowed to do so was never proven.
Then there was the savings and loan which went belly up. One weekend, the fire sprinkler went off in the vault, filling it with water. The security guard hired to let people in on weekdays found a waterlogged vault of their stuff. Same result.
This is in the USA Ten or more years ago. It must be worse now. I don’t know – I don’t surrender my stuff to them. (Or anybody else.)
If somebody dies with a safety deposit box, you typically have to get a court order to open it. Not exactly handy if their will’s in it. The cost of the lawyer (me) is better invested in a good hidden safe. (Two is better. One is for opening at gunpoint, like city dwellers who carry a “mugger’s wallet” with some cash and dummy credit cards in it.) Floor safes often protect their contents from fire, but investigate the pros and cons.
The short summary is that banks break laws they dislike and then get ones they like passed in the next session of whatever legislative body is involved. Heads they win, tails you lose, always, and you pay them for the privilege. Try to work around such entities, to be safer and less hassled.

We don’t know the full story, but they where searching all the boxes some 7,000 of them. So what will happen when Bush or whomever makes gold and precious metals illegal for americans to hold, they will go through all Safe deposit boxes in america and take a peek and confiscate. They will use the shotgun method just as the british are using now, check them all and confiscate what is in the boxes. To me much of what was in these deposit boxes (sans child abuse info) was assets and paperwork that a person may need if something financially happens to them or their host country (6 suitcases of golddust etc. etc.).
Hold on to your hats kiddies, I have a strange feeling that this show is coming to a bank near you in the future.

believe that they could drill open ALL 7000 boxes. Where would you get the manpower to do it ?
Even if you had duplicate keys the job would be enormous.
I have to assume they meant to write that they are only opening ALL “suspect” boxes out of a total of 7000 safety deposit boxes.
If that’s not the case, then the business of storing valuables within these boxes has been totally
ruined. I mean, who the hell would store anything (and pay for the storage to boot) like this ?

safety deposit boxes are, by their very nature places where anyone could ’stash’ dodgy stuff and ill-gotten gains but the police should not have the right to just go in there, open them all up and have a good look around. as has been said earlier, any one of those cops could sneak a massive wad of legitimate cash into his/her pocket and there would be absolutely no recourse from the law abiding citizen they have stolen it from because there would be no record of it being in there in the first place.
hopefully, the banks who comply with the police’s ‘request’ will be forever blacklisted by anyone wanting to rent a (none) safety deposit box from them in the future…

This is the ongoing mission to dispose of the limited freedom that we have and this is only one example, there are so many things happening at the moment and most of it is going unnoticed and people are just accepting.
On a smaller scale but still as relevant, (I believe) is this little gem. Recently, I wanted to have a few lagers at my local pub – somewhere I have been buying drinks for a long time – and I was disgusted to learn that on entry I would have to partake in a drug test before I could go in, if not I would be turned away. I think I counted 6 police stooges, standing there looking tough holding their magic drug detection wand which supposedly could detect the smallest particle of an illegal drug. If the reading was positive, then you would be submitted to a search. Now, I do know that there had been small problems with drugs in this particular pub and I don’t really condone that (if you want to take drugs that’s fine – another freedom that we should all have – but keep it at home!) but last I heard, you were INNOCENT until PROVEN GUILTY. It seems that now, everyone is considered GUILTY and you HAVE TO PROVE YOURSELF INNOCENT by submitting to this test. All I wanted was to enjoy a drink in my local pub. I tried to explain to people that this was an infringement on their rights but all I got was an apathetic “but if you’ve done nothing wrong then why should it bother you…” PEOPLE just aren’t seeing the bigger picture, if you agree to this what else are you going to agree to….. Needless to say, I haven’t been back to the pub in question since.

Anyway, according to the BBC, they weren’t just raiding the safety deposit boxes themselves, they were actually raiding the COMPANY that owns/runs the safe deposit box service. From what I gather, the police have been investigating this company intensively for about 2 years and they believe the company itself is actually a front for an organized crime group that created a safe deposit company specifically in order to hide their stolen and embezzled property.
So there is at least ostensibly a fair reason for searching every deposit box. It could potentially disrupt a long-existing and heavily investigated criminal organization. Many of the boxes that appear to be in the names of real people may in fact just be secret hiding places for the crime organization’s stolen and embezzled loot.
However, it sets a frightening precedent, to be sure and the underlying implications are obvious to all of us, I think: That even if this is a valid raid, it sets the stage for future raids on anyone who the government finds even just a little suspicious.
I’m frankly a little torn about this story and I’m not going to make any final decisions about what I think of it until more info comes in that I can critically analyze.
By the way I want to say THANKS TO TENACIOUS M, the first and one of the only people in this discussion to ask the critical questions that need to be asked about this story before taking it at face value. And to those who chided Tenacious M for speaking up as the voice of reason, I can only say SHAME ON YOU! Seriously, I totally understand the desire to latch onto any and every shred of evidence proving our case about the bad course our governments are taking and I am somtimes guilty of it, too. But listen people, it’s a TERRIBLE habit to accept ANY story from ANY source at face value…ESPECIALLY when the source has an obvious agenda, like Fox News or like THIS WEBSITE. And don’t get me wrong, this is one of my favorite sites and I think it’s incredibly helpful at times. The problem is that sometimes, honestly, this site only reports the parts of a story that fit into the greater narrative that the site is painting. In other words, we all know that it’s unwise to take the word of the mainstream media at face value, but we need to apply that same logical argument to ALL media, including (perhaps especially) the independent media sources we love so much like infowars! The habit of just reading a little news blurb like this one and reacting to it as if it proved some greater concept that you already believe in, regardless of the fact that it provides NO source, NO background info and NO fair presentation of the “other side of the story”…I mean come on…that makes you just as much of a “sheeple” as anyone else in this world. Sheeple don’t JUST follow governments, sometimes they follow opposition groups too, like the freedom and liberty movement that we’re all a part of right now.
Be vigilant against too quickly accepting anything! Question EVERYTHING, not just the stuff you disagree with. Let’s not let this movement rely upon blind faith as our detractors often do. We must know our facts and know them well, and we must be more critically analytical than anyone else because we are the ones trying to convince the world that these problems with our governments are real. Raving activists do not ever convince people to change their minds. Careful analysts and conversationalists DO change minds.

There are some strange thoughts written on here. I am the owner of one of the boxes. I had jewellery and some family stuff, including passports, in my box. I was one of the 1100 people who contact the police (the cops told me this) out of 7,000 boxes. They imediatley gave me back my property and advised me on a number of other well run safety deposit boxes. I’ve been scanning the web for stories….seems that only Craigbob and TENACIOUS M have a true grasp of what is going on here! Putting the criminal gangs in fear! This is happening already in the USA….They the State are doing this in California on a regular basis to raise cash! Yes they are, and have been doing it for years! They have lowered the time you last contacted the bank now to 18 months and after that they call the safety deposit boxes abandoned!! They the Sate or local GOV then grabs the cash, and auctions off the belongings without informing the owners! Many in the last years have lost fortunes and prized possessions! they always say we sent a letter to inform the owners but they never do!
The banks don’t question the orders or inform the owner in case it causes them more trouble!
So now the British have learned a trick or two from the Yanks! This is one of the latest.You bet the kitchen sink that if it happens in the USA the scum bags in the UK GOV will pick it up and use it against us.Just like that stupidly small cash amount we plebs are allowed to transfer overseas is pathetic, so small you cannot buy a TV with it,yet we are then put on suspect sheet if we do so.Though the big criminals can send as much they want!!! I want my liberty back!

Coming from the Britain anyway, this issue is the norm in the Britain we are led to believe that it is a criminal investigation as an excuse, to break into our personal accounts. In the uk 99% of people don’t have a clue what’s going on in the background, we don’t have a Alex Jones either unfortunately.
Banks in this country are like the mafia anyway I get charged £35.00 ($70.00) for going overdrawn by £1 GBP. So they don’t need a key to get into our accounts.
We are supposed to be proud to be British, not me this country is a rip off.
Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then on the way home call for a Indian takeaway or a Turkish kebab, get home and sit on a Swedish sofa and watch a USA show on a Japanese Tv and being suspicious of anything foreign. Oh and only in Britain can you get a pizza quicker than a ambulance, only in Britain do banks leave both their Doors open but chain their pens to the counter. Also in supermarkets they make the disabled walk to the rear of the store to get their prescriptions, while healthy people can stand at the front door to have a cigarette…. We might be British but by god we are strange……

Just to say i have not seen any mention of this either on Sky or BBC but I am so not surprised, I suppose I am not surprised by anyhting these days especially the price of Petrol in the UK £1.99 a litre how would the USA react to that?

An armed people remain a free people who have some control over their own destiny. If the british influenced people (excluding the U.S.) around the world were to take it upon thenselves to be armed and therefore would ultimately be responsible for their own freedom. That means they would have to become active and change their own laws.
It would not be long for such actions in the U.S. to become so unpopular that those conducting raids in Banks to pilfer safety deposit boxes would most likely have to shoot their way out past armed and defensive civil militia.
The point is that we may be able to delay if not stop the globalists from advancing to their goal if they knew that we were quite willing to fill their arses with some oo’ buckshot.
If you don’t like loud noises get a bow and arrow. If that is too privitive for you, learn to play golf. Anyone who can become accurate with a driver up to 75 or 100 yards would come in handy at the next Bilderbeast meeting.

You know everybody talks about arming yourselves which is all fine and good,but,
has anyone thought much about the God-Awful weapons THEY may have that we are not even aware of.
They can find you with heat reading devices, they have that micro-wave laser thing that can cook you where you stand.
They have jets,tanks,ships,drones that can do God only knows, when they crack down they will control everything.
Roads,communications the list gos on and on.
It has already gotten way,way,way out of hand.
The time is now but really 15 years ago becouse I fear this will not stop.
I know an elderly women who grew up in Natzi Germany and has told me she fears for the U.S.A.
and the world because it all is frightfully similar, she has “seen this before”
