The Politico’s Mike Allen talked with President Bush about why he gave up golf. Bush said, “I don’t want some mom whose son may have recently died see the Commander in Chief playing golf. I feel I owe it to the families to be as — to be in solidarity as best as I can with them, and I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal.”
The US president traced his decision to the August 19, 2003 bombing of UN headquarters in Baghdad, which killed the world body’s top official in Iraq, Sergio Vieira de Mello.
“I remember when de Mello, who was at the UN, got killed in Baghdad as a result of these murderers taking this good man’s life. And I was playing golf — I think I was in central Texas — and they pulled me off the golf course and I said, it’s just not worth it anymore to do,” said Bush.
Bush’s last round of golf as president dates back to October 13, 2003, according to meticulous records kept by CBS news.
On the day of the bombing two months earlier, he had cut short his golf game at the 12th hole and returned to his ranch in tiny Crawford, Texas.
CNN pundit Jamal Simmons commented on Bush’s gesture. Simmons said, “If the President wants to show solidarity and respect for the families he should start by coming up with a plan for how we end the war in Iraq. He could have started by having a plan for going into Iraq and securing the country so we wouldn’t be in a situation we would be in today. Stopping playing golf is a nice gesture but I think people want to see something more substantive.”

Bush has got no plan other than what the Bilderbergers tell him to do!
BTW old golfers never die, they just can’t find their Balls!
A Patriot is a Militiaman who readies himself everyday in quiet FURY!

What do I think of it? Put him in a uniform, slap an M16 in his hands and push him out of an aircraft into Bagdad.
President should lead by example!

May 14th, 2008 at 9:47 am
Gave up golf. WOW, that will mean a lot to parents who gave up their sons & daughters.
I agree with #2 Eric, let him have a big dose of his own medicine.
May 14th, 2008 at 9:49 am
Jee. Wouldn’t it be nice of Mr Bush if he quit smoking crack too. Joke. But seriously, you could have stopped the war before it ever began, and yet, we’re supposed to AWW at you for quitting golf?! What about you quitting your profiteering in this war, making millions from poor people killing each other with expensive equipment, or oil profiteering. How about you quit the Skull and Crossbones? Even better, just QUITTING the office of President! Just QUIT altogether, Bush, then I’ll be proud(to be an American again)
May 14th, 2008 at 9:52 am
…Ah-bdi…”Eric” You said it !!!…b…But for now , if he stops playing with himself , consider us lucky !!!

What a laugh, a great picture. As priceless as the happy birthday to Israel birthday card on Jeff

I can, sadly enough, hear the ‘drowsy masses’ say ‘awwwww’ believing Bush gives a fat shit.
I can almost hear Hunter say “shotgun golf anyone?”
May 14th, 2008 at 10:03 am
I wonder how much “political analysts” get paid? They just sit there and bullshit about a single quote. Anyone can think for themselves about what a single sentence means, but no we need “experts” to throw ideas out there so we can choose one as our own. “What do you think Bush meant when he said ’solidarity’?? Discuss analysts, discuss!” Makes me want to take a dump all over the news camera…
May 14th, 2008 at 10:03 am
So, what is he aiming for here, does he want a fucking medal of valor or something for allegedly giving up golf? Is this the great burden the White House has been referring to when they say that the war has been harder on King George than anyone else? Only in the sick, psychotic, retarded world of the wealthy elite is giving up golf any kind of real sacrifice…out here in the real world, where most people can’t even fucking afford to play golf, it doesn’t mean a goddamn thing.
If King George really wants to impress me, he should give up life.
May 14th, 2008 at 10:18 am
While he’s giving up golf, Bush should look into the voluntary human extinction group.
May 14th, 2008 at 10:23 am
A few points to be made about Golf and our Satanic Dictator…
1. Golf in itself is the most ridiculous elitist Bull-Shit “sport” ever… the game in itself is a giant “FUCK YOU” to poor people around the world.
2. To paraphrase George Carlin’s idea, we should turn all the land and property of these golf courses into low income housing. There is Wii golf and Golden Tee for people that actually appreciate the sportsmanship of the game…
3. I would bet every penny that W quit in a hissy fit after having yet another round of sucking at the game. “I gave up golf for the American people” ??? Go fuck yourself with your 9 iron you douche bag. EVERYONE ELSE GAVE UP WAY MORE THAN A LUXURY.
May 14th, 2008 at 10:25 am
I can’t believe this is what the corporate media is showing us on television and the panelist are giggling and laughing like war is something that it’s not really meant to be….. I would love to know each of the people on the panels plus the host of the show how much ass they have kissed to get to where they are today. It’s amazing what people will do when you wave a carrot in front of their faces.
May 14th, 2008 at 10:27 am
I totally agree with what you have said. Except for the bad language, that is. What Bush said is nausiating. I especially agree with Dave and Adam. Maybe Bush should send one of his kids to fight in his stinking war…
May 14th, 2008 at 10:28 am
Isn’t it striking that the reason our scumbag president is giving up golf is because he wants to APPEAR in solidarity with our troops. It seems the obvious answer would be he is giving up golf because he is too busy running the war, country, etc.
I hope he receives what he deserves, and soon.

What’s disturbing as well are these Politico clips in general which have been popping up on Yahoo over the past few days. They look as if they were created directly by the White House PR department. All of the questions and topics (let alone the answers) are softballs and ridiculous.
May 14th, 2008 at 11:26 am
I apologize for my language. I didn’t mean to offend anyone. However, I still want to exercise what is left of my 1st amendment right…
May 14th, 2008 at 11:57 am
He can always pick up an M4 and lead from the front, instead of from behind billions of dollars of securty forces and technology. I recently had a sickening conversation with a man whose relative was assinged to a security detail for our King Bush. He was given a rifle, and orders to shoot any man, woman or child who crossed a certain line while our good King was on scene.
I feel sick at the pride this guy took recounting the story to his friends and family. People like the Bushes and others feel their lives as so valuable that we are not even allowed to approach them without security clearance and permission. The sad reality is, there are others who would kill you or your family members just for daring to cross a line, that is the truely sad part.
All the blood on King Bushs’ hands, all those who stand willing to die for him, maim for him and share in his Holocost to the NWO are twisted. Mark my words, someday everyone will stand before the creator of this universe and be held accountable for every ounce of human pain they caused. That is my hope and faith anyway.
May 14th, 2008 at 11:59 am
unbelievable. elitism run amok.
May 14th, 2008 at 12:20 pm
No need to apologize, Wren. Passion is good!
May 14th, 2008 at 12:23 pm
I’d rather see him give up the occupation for golf!
May 14th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
I don’t like the man, but President Bush is still my Commander and Chief and leader of my country. Right, wrong, or indifferent, he swore his allegiance to us and us to him. We know what he is, but speaking of solidarity, we shouldn’t make our President seem like he doesn’t feel for the the troops. He sees things going on behind the scenes and he knows all the gritty details, Bush and his lackeys are scared and bitter, and something tells me it is more than not being able to play golf. That’s get them out of office before we start pointing fingers. It’s disrespectful to my country. He is my Constitutional elected Representative. He has the rest of his life to feel the shame of what he has done to this country and it’s young men and women fighting his foreign war.
May 14th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
you just can’t make this stuff up.
May 14th, 2008 at 12:45 pm
What did Congress, the government body with the only power to declare and fund war, what did they give up? I never thought I’d defend President Bush, but he is playing a game. Hell it looked good to somebody or he wouldn’t of stopped playing. If Bush is Ponchus Pilot than Congress is Judas.
May 14th, 2008 at 1:55 pm
The men and women serving in our armed forces gave up their lives, their limbs, their families, their sanity, all of the comforts of home, and countless years of blood, sweat, and sorrow.
Iraqis gave up their lives, their limbs, their families, their sanity, their government (good or bad), clean drinking water, electricity, employment, safety, stability, their future and the future of their children, education, and their freedom to live in a world without “green zones” and checkpoints where they could be gunned down by psychotic junkie mercenaries.
Bush gave up golf.
This is the perfect encapsulation of the Bush presidency.
May 14th, 2008 at 2:08 pm
#24 Aaron Williams “he swore his allegiance to us and us to him”
No, as a citizen of the United States you are sworn to uphold and defend the constitution of the United States, not any President or political party or corporation or other group or person. Your #1 obligation as a citizen is to fight any political party, corporation, unelected judicial decision, President or anyone else who tries to violate this. This fight is the most critical function of citizens in a democracy. It is not the phoney ‘checks and balances’ that keep government in line: you do.
May 14th, 2008 at 2:19 pm
Okay, maybe it’s just me….BUT….as a big fan of Jeff Dunham, I really think that boy George here looks like his puppet ‘Walter’. If you haven’t seen him, check him out on youtube. REALLY uncanny resemblance. Same squinty eyes, same down-turned lipless frown….very freaky.
I’m not kidding, just check it out….I shit you not!!!!
May 14th, 2008 at 3:22 pm
To think I worked for this guy as my Commander in Chief…..Giving up golf clubs to honor those Mom’s who have lost their Sons and Daughters in battle? Well at least we can can all rest peacefully that our SOCK PUPPET did not spike himself with his golf shoes.
How about trading in your golf clubs for a uniform /weapon and lead your troups into battle? Or allowing your own daughters to suit up (militarily) and play in the sandbox (Iraq/Iran)? Then the problem comes closer to home and a solution is within reach.
Tough to sacrifice your own when the whole premise for war was staged/false flag to support the UN. I did not sign up for nation building.
May 14th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
Ahhh, don’t worry bah-bah Bush! Your 2 weeks in Bohemian Grove are coming. Cremation of Care. Throw the golf thing on it, mabye Molech will get you a new set of clubs.
May 14th, 2008 at 4:55 pm
What great sacrifice Mr. Bush is showing! I’m feel so proud that the President is giving up golf for the troops. This should motivate others to make some sacrifices for them as well.
May 14th, 2008 at 4:58 pm
Molech still golfs. He HAS NO CONSIENCE to be bothered by lies and murder.
May 14th, 2008 at 5:22 pm
He quit because he was scared there might be an I.E.B or an I.E.C. in his bag.(improvised explosive ball or improvised explosive club) Maybe he should have gaven up the $10,000.00 wedding dress he bought his daughter.Maybe he should give up his children or maybe he should just give up taking up our space time an air.
May 14th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
OH THE POOR TRAITOR HAD TO GIVE UP GOLF TO SHOW SYMPATHY FOR ALL OF HIS MURDER’S!!
THE MAN IS A MASS MURDERER, AND WILL CERTAINLY PAY THE ULTIMATE PRICE, ETERNITY BURNING IN HELL!!
May 14th, 2008 at 6:12 pm

May 14th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
As an Iraq War Vet, I’m not too impressed by Bush’s statement. However, I would be more pleased if he came up with a plan to begin bringing the troops home. Not to mention, the Bush administration should also stop the war profiteering and end the practice of non-bid contracts for
their buddies. But most of all, Mr. Bush needs to stop the U.S. military, the C.I.A., and private contractors from violating the human rights of the Afghan and Iraqi people (such as torture-
“WATERBOARDING”) and illegally occupying their countries for oil. Also, while you are at it Mr. Bush, return our civil liberties by repealing Patriot Acts I and II, The No Child Left Behind Act (which allows military recruiters access to student data bases without their parent’s consent) the Military Commissions Act, the domestic spying of the NSA, FBI, the Pentagon, Secret Service, etc.
May 14th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
I remember very well when I was sitting in the desert waiting for the go ahead to attack Kuwait and Iraq that I saw a photo of Bush 41 enjoying sailing off the coast of New England and I thought, shit, here I am doing his bidding and he has the nerve to do what I can’t, which is take a day off and enjoy myself. I figured he should have been sequestered in his White House just like I was sequestered on our little plateau in God knows where land. Anway, thanks, Bush 43 for doing SOMETHING right. Not that it’s enough, though.
May 15th, 2008 at 5:10 am
Perhaps the shifty little shit should give up breathing, that would be a fine start.
May 15th, 2008 at 5:20 am
Talking of Bohemian Grove and the impending summer camp for power-crazed degenerates,I’m sure a well trained Patriot militia could quite literally catch these bastards with their pants down.Just a suggestion.
May 15th, 2008 at 6:52 am
When he runs down to Paragay to keep from going to jail or being hung for mass murder he can play all the golf he wants till the bounty hunters come after him and old slick DICK
May 15th, 2008 at 9:08 am
Smart move by Bush and the NWO. Makes him seem sympathetic in the eyes of the sheeple. Bush would nuke America if the NWO told him to.
May 15th, 2008 at 9:53 am
Bush can’t play golf because he has no balls. Or something is wrong with his club.
May 15th, 2008 at 9:54 am
I think the relatives of the dead would like to see bush play golf, in Iraq.
May 15th, 2008 at 11:43 am
Hang the fucker already…!!!!
May 15th, 2008 at 1:27 pm
#42 – It’s not really the smartest thing to say. If I had lost a loved one in Iraq, I would be outraged that King George would see fit to compare his feeble sacrifice to anything our armed forces or the Iraqis have endured. I’m actually surprised that he said it…his hubris and lack of compassion is nothing new though.
May 16th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
I think that in light of all the innocent young lives he has carelessly sacrficed for his ‘oil war’….Georgie boy should hold his breath till he loses consciousness….I have some plastic bags and duct tape if anybody needs it…lol.
Now THAt would really show some empathy….STOP BREATHING YOU MURDEROUS BASTARD!!!
May 17th, 2008 at 1:20 am
