What once was science fiction is being field-tested by the University of Iowa to iron out the wrinkles should a by-the-mile road tax ever be enacted.
Besides the technological advances making such a tax possible, the idea is getting a hard push from a growing number of transportation experts and officials. That is because the traditional by-the-gallon fuel tax, struggling to keep up with road building and maintenance demands, could fall even farther behind as vehicles’ gas mileage rises and more alternative-fuel vehicles come on line.

If this becomes reality the issue will be that you car will not run without it. The solution is to drive older non GPS’ed cars are refuse to have one installed. This also means not using those GPS units for directions, Toll road express pay tools, Satellite radio, and potentially cell phones as all can be tracked. All cell phones can be tracked unless there is not battery in them. Powered off does not totally disable them. I personally do not think this great nation will stand as anything we have ever know or will be able to recognize by then. Either the sheep will wake up and take back the freedom the usurpers have taken or we will all be salves or dead.

All you have to do is take 240 volt circuit and run it through the GPS device and it will fry it runs on 12 volts only. Poof it is gone. Place neutral or white wire or green ground on one end and the hot wire (green, red, Blue,) you get the idea on the other end. Dis connect the battery before doing it to nothing else is fried.

You are probably right. They won’t be looking to *replace* an old tax, just add more on top of what they already have.
Can GPS signals be blocked? For example, constructing some sort of Faraday cage around the unit or disabling whatever part of it that sends the signal? There’s no need to continually track the actual position of a vehicle to count miles. A simple annual or biannual odometer check should suffice. There is absolutely no need to know which exact road the vehicle traveled on, just how many miles of roadway were used.
Using GPS is just an excuse to snoop and collect data, making it legal for the government to follow you around everywhere you go in your car.

Why is this news so startling? When in fact our great grandfathers warned us that this was going to happen. It does not matter whether or not you believe the Bible. Your going to try and tell me that this 1500 yr + old document, written over a span of 1500 yrs, by 40 different authors, without a single contradiction to the overall message. Word for Word translated from the original greek and hebrew text, with scientific, archiological, and historical proof. Not to mention the countless confirmed prophetic passages that are coming to pass. The Verichip/national ID/Somark (mark of the beast) Greenhouse/global warming/eugenicists (world religion) NWO/UN/CFR/TLC/EU (One world government beast) WE are losing are freedoms on a daily basis, and those world wide are losing what is left of theirs. The only thing that logically makes any sense is to go back in time and realize that men spoke and wrote this would happen long ago.
Why do we have problems believing the rest of this writ. If all of this has come true, do we believe that God, manifested in the flesh, came as our savior to this world to give us a chance to be saved from this sick system. Can we believe that we must be born again, do we believe there is a heaven or a hell? It is obviously your choice, no this is not an excuse for tyranny, yes the “church”has been involved in many wars, takeovers, and oppresive man made religion. However, the actions of mens are only a testimony to the changing of a man, not a testimony of an unchanging God. Study Babylon, look at Sodom and Gomorrah, We forget that the God of the old testament if the Jesus of the new, and he is not playing.
Öh, but your just manipulated by the system, a tv education has warped you, your decieved like all the rest, its all apart of the overall scheme of the elite”
Wrong, do you realize that one of the first orders to be carried out is to get rid of Christians, we have millions of muslims living in the US, legislation being passed will literally make it a felony to preach the bible, and in fact this system, those that are aloud to live, allow for a life the opposite of what is spoken of in the Bible, yet completely goes against the very core of what the original church was established to be.
It is amazing to watch people react, I quit watching tv and listening to main streamed media a long time ago and am very thankful I did. I’m seeing the dumbing down of America, and believe me the only CHANGE that this country needs is for Christians, not sinners, not atheists, or agnostics, but those who claim christianity to humble theirselves, seek God’s face, stop praying for his hand, his provision, give me give me, but pray for his will what he wants. Then this will turn us from our wicked ways, and HE WILL HEAL OUR LAND.
If not within 5 years all christians will be enslaved.

Agreed; the ultimate target of this system is Christians, at least those bible-believers who profess Jesus Christ as God in the flesh, sinless, risen from the dead, and to return again.
True revival in America will come through severe persecution.
As Christians, we must resist the onslaughts of the evil one, and it’s minions.

So now that we get electric cars we need to pay the tax by milage, great idea. Watch me fix the meter in the car…theres a way. Im sure. Bring it on….
July 1st, 2009 at 3:35 pm
Years ago, my state figured plate fees by vehicle weight. The reasoning being heavier vehicles do more damage to roads. As cars got smaller/lighter to increase mileage, revenue of course dropped. They then changed the fees to reflect the vehicles market value, that way they could at least fleece the people who could afford newer vehicles. So all the people driving lighter more fuel efficient cars (supposedly better for environment) got punished.
Now that cars are heading towards electric, the gov’t is probably in a tizzy about a drop in gasoline taxes as we slowly move towards less gas usage. This article is a perfect example. No matter what we as consumers do, no matter how much we cut down or cut back on our so-called “dependence on foreign oil”, the government has no intention of doing the same. They will merely shift the taxes to something else so they continue to rake in the same money.
Not to mention the data gold mine of having gps location data for every second a citizen is using the public roadways. I bet they *really* like that.

Everywhere you can drive is already a toll road. Everywhere. You pay tax on fuel by the gallon purchased. You get X number of miles per gallon. You already pay X per mile travelled.
This is for no other reason than to track and trace your every move and possibly a scheme to drive up revenue by altering a long-used, albeit not well understood, taxing method. They are just building a prison planet and we are footing the bill.
The Constitution provides CONgress the authority to impose only tyo types of taxes. What are they? In which taxing type does the the current form fit? To which type would the by-the-mile fit?

There is a way around this. Push businesses to allow it’s employees to work from home. There is a good number of jobs out there that can be done right from home because of our current information technology. I know my boss would allow me to do that. I have to drive 80 miles a day round trip. My husband and I used to drive sepparate. Then when the gas prices went through the roof, we re-aranged our schedules and started driving together. Now if they want to go and do this crap, we’ll just work from home. Have lap top, will stay at home. Taxes on the gas is by far the best and fairest way to do it. But if the gov. is going to force us to have fuel efficient or electric vehicles so as to reduce our dependancy on Big Oil, then I would say the gov. needs to reduce it’s dependency on Big Gas Tax. They’re clueless. The smart people will find a way around their scams everytime. And the rest of the people will follow suit. Have you ever noticed most of the stupid laws they pass are in reaction to people who find a way around a previous law. They’re constantly on the defensive. Let’s keep them there.

If you truly love your country, if you truly want to protect your country, then look into the mirror and ask yourself, “who is my master”? Who is calling the shots? Who is ordering you to trample the fundamental rights of the very citizens you swore to protect? How far are you willing to go in the name of “safety”? Is it okay to detain citizens with no representation? Is it okay to disarm a populace so they are unable to defend themselves? Why did you get involved in law enforcement in the first place? Was it to defend the LIBERTY of your fellow citizen? Was it because you like to wear a badge? Carry a gun? Is it because you want to be on the “winning side”?. What kind of country are you building for YOUR children, for MY children. Will it be a nation built on fear? A nation where if you say the wrong thing, or peacefully protest against government action you are labled a “terrorist”? Is this the world you want your children to live in? Do you want them to live in a world where we are controlled by fear and by corporate interests? Where we are simply sheep, our only purpose to fill the coffers of international bankers, weapons contractors, and out-dated energy cartels? Shame on all of you who took an oath to defend this country from foreign and DOMESTIC threats that are facilitating the very demise of our once-great Nation. Does the fact that our current Federal government is operating completely outside the law not bother you? Have you ever really read the constitution? How brainwashed are you? Are you so caught up in your law-enforcement sub-culture to realize that you are now treating the very people that you swore to protect as your enemy? Reach inside yourself and shake your soul. You have the power to stand up and make a change. You have the power to say ” I cannot follow this order, I will not follow this directive as it is simply unconstitutional. Or, will you sell your soul for your pension? Will you continue to violate our God-Given RIGHTS of privacy, Liberty, Freedom, and Happiness? Do you not understand that when you operate outside the constitution you are operating as a lawless thug? Do you not understand that when you compromise the constitution in the name of ” safety” that you are buying into a lie? I pray that you will listen to these words. They are the words of a fellow citizen. They are the words of a man that has worked since he was 16 to build a life for himself and his family. They are the words of a man who believes in the power of the constitution and power that it grants its populace. If you really want to protect your country, the real terrorists are not in a sandbox 5,000 miles away. The real terrorists are sitting in Congress. They are sitting in the white house, they own the Federal Reserve, and they are even sitting in your office. They are the people who are taking the constitution and setting it on fire. They are the ones who follow their own agenda’s under the guise of freedom. It is all very simple. Follow the constitution. It is no more complicated than that. If you are asked to perform a task, and that task is not constitutional than you must refuse that order. If you do not, then you have sold your soul and you are in fact commiting treason.

The tax will probably be in addition to a gasoline tax.Instead of out and out raising taxes every bill passed is a revenue bill for the transfer of money from us to them.
We should have a world wide don’t work day, don’t shop day, don’t spend any money, don’t send checks, pay bills etc. They’ll say we will bring the world’s economy down with such actions but,so what?. They have orchestrated this whole economy and have purposely orchestrated all of this just like they did the depression.

If I get pulled over and get a ticket I will be forced to kill the cop and burn his car with his body in it. I carry a large amount of gasoline for the very purpose to take revenge on my enemies. I have beaten a cop who tried to charge me with DWI because I f-cked his girlfriend.

Dude, please go play in traffic or something… I dont want myself to be linked to a nutcase like yourself nor do I want a comment like that linked to a website I frequent.
I hope your I.P. is tracked and you are arrested for the ignorant crimes= you profess to have done.
If your joking around, your comment is not funny and you are still an idiot.
If you are a FED trying to stir things up- Please remember that we are exercising our right to Free Speech and Peaceful Assembly (albeit in an electronic manner) and we are all well aware that you monitor these boards (and we welcome you here and hope you learn something truly valuable through the news and opinions on this website) but please do not post things like this in hopes of having some moron agree with you so that you may “bust him” for saying something stupid. That should be beneath you, it should be entrapment (although I know it isnt) and your giving all of us a bad name.
Thanks

What is the militia? The term “militia” consists of two parts: the organized militia and the unorganized militia. According to the organic Maine Constitution and backed by the United States Code, the organized militia is the standing military force in the state (the “State Guard”) while the unorganized militia (which is commonly called the militia) consists of all other males between the ages of 17 and 45 (or 65 if they have prior military service). The militia was established for the purpose of defending the state (a sovereign nation) and the United States of America (a union of nations) from all enemies “foreign and domestic” based upon principles of community self defense established hundreds of years before the nation was formed. However, while the organized militia was tasked with the defenses of the states, our forefathers, having just fought their own government, did not place their entire trust in the government or a standing army to protect them but reserved the right and the means to protect themselves – thus the unorganized militia. The militia was and is a defensive body set up so that its members can take care of normal peace by internal lawless elements, or government usurpation of the rights and power of the people guaranteed by the Constitution, there is a group of people that owe their allegiance to no one except God and their fellow Americans who desire to remain free.
The mission and purpose of the militia have not changed. What has changed is the status of the organized militia. The “State Guard” with the duty and obligation of protecting the state is now under federal jurisdiction (the “National Guard”) thereby obligating it only to the federal government making the unorganized militia the only constitutional force available for the defense of the state.

GPS systems are in our cars only so that the Government can track down whoever they feel is a threat, it has nothing to do with the government giving a shit about the american people. If they gave a rats ass they would stop giving aid to illegals, and to all these overseas interests and would help out their own many of whom are living in the streets. As to a tax by the mile,, this only proves further how ignorantthe government is. Taxing those who make their living through delivery etc would make it almost impossible to gain any profit thus making them go out of business. So much for the pursuit of happiness, liberty and what not. They are attempting to rape America. It’s time to put our foot down and say enough is enough fools.

Sounds like a way for people to buy less fuel-efficient vehicles as long as they don’t drive them too much. Could Ford and Hummer be behind this? Then a Hybrid might pay more than a Hummer, just because of mileage and not because of fossil fuels.
July 4th, 2009 at 2:50 pm
Its certainly for tracking and nothing else- Although at first they will go to great pains to assure the masses that “Nobody will track you with this technology” blah, blah.
Picture this scenario if you will.
Police have been watching a Known drug house and an informant tells them when a shipment of (insert drug of choice here) is coming in. Police try to attain a warrant to monitor all GPS activity at said Drug house for a major drug investigation.
A buy is set up and made to secure the warrant but rather than make an arrest its more adventurous for the Police to now follow all cars that “pulled in the driveway” for any “amount of time” and expand the investigation to other homes. So, 50 cars pulled in during the OP, they are data based, checked out, etc. instantly and “persons of interest” now followed in real time to their homes which can in turn expand the investigation even further.
Now, they have all this info, all these patterns, all these people who they know EXACTLY when to “pull over ” on a seemingly random stop to bust them with the “most” (insert form of contraband here).
From 1 drug house you could literally follow a trail of drugs and money (whatever) across the Country and net thousands of busts that appear “random” and thus the “Ring” would not even be aware of Surveillance going on in their circle.
NOW- thats the way it will eventually be sold to the public. A tool Law Enforcement NEEDS to stop drugs and save the children.
We all know how it will really be used.=P

Hell, by 2020 they can come up with better than this. How about a system in vehicles that not only tracks the number of miles one drives, but can also deduct the taxes from your bank account after each mile marker has been passed? Oh, and if your bank account is empty? Your vehicle stops operating. Ut oh. I think I could work for the government with my imagination running rampant as it is.

This is where we take a lesson from architecture. Most buildings can weaken or even negate signals from cell phones. That said, if we can find out what materials do this, well, see where I’m going???????

I don’t think there will be a civil war but I do think it will be us against the government. They wear uniforms…we don’t, they march in formation, we shoot from behind trees, no one will help them when their in trouble, Americans will help Americans. End story..Government loses, WE WIN!

I find it interesting that just when a company in Florida starts modifying cars to run on water they want to replace gas taxes with per mile taxes.

what ever they come up with will be deprogrammed and rendered useless…..guaranteed!
