The influential lobby group Consumer Electronics Assn. is fighting what appears to be a losing battle to dissuade California regulators from passing the nation’s first ban on energy-hungry big-screen televisions.
![]() |
On Tuesday, executives and consultants for the Arlington, Va., trade group asked members of the California Energy Commission to instead let consumers use their wallets to decide whether they want to buy the most energy-saving new models of liquid-crystal display and plasma high-definition TVs.
“Voluntary efforts are succeeding without regulations,” said Doug Johnson, the association’s senior director for technology policy. Too much government interference could hamstring industry innovation and prove expensive to manufacturers and consumers, he warned.
But those pleas didn’t appear to elicit much support from commissioners at a public hearing on the proposed rules that would set maximum energy-consumption standards for televisions to be phased in over two years beginning in January 2011. A vote could come as early as Nov. 4.

Well I have to agree on this one. They should ban all brainwashing devices. You had better have your things prepared for travel and have it ready for transport soon. Dont forget salt, magnisium fire starter, hatchet, hand saw, wood working tools, vitamins, water filter, portable burner, first aid kit with snake bite and bee sting kit, dehydrated food, emergency blankets, extra socks, sturdy boots for all, hunting knife, compass, rope, carabiner clips, heavy duty trash bags for keeping your things dry while fording rivers, galvanised screws, warm cloths, sugar, spices, weapon&ammo ALOT,tarps not tents, sleeping bags rated 20 below 0,bug repelent, razor blades, ace bandages, laminated maps, and alot im sure you have allready. You shouldn’t shoot anyone unless they are going to shoot you. That’s ALL we would need, is patriots blowing away cops and military. THe reality is, we need cops and military. They’re waking up with us, THANKFULLY.
A real , and great solution: Oath Keepers
A really stupid idea that will ring in Martial Law quicker than you can say John Warner Defense Authorization Act: Getting violent against police and military
Now, if they start executing people and throwing them in camps, I wouldn’t be surprised if it turned bloody. That would be a good time to take an extended vacation, if you know what I mean. Aint going to be pretty.

EXACTLY…I’ve thought of the same thing. THIS IS THE BEST IDEA I’VE HEARD IN TWO YEARS TO FIGHT BACK THE GLOBAL ENSLAVEMENT. Aaron Russo was on to something, If we can rally the American people to stop paying these unconstitutional taxes, government won’t be funded and neither will the federal reserve.
Ask yourselves this, do you continue to pay for goods or services from any other industry or sector, if they’re harming you or not doing you any good? Do you continue to pay employees if they lie cheat and steal from YOUR company?
By paying taxes, you paying for them to sit in their fancy high-life positions where they are ABOVE the law and you fund the government and the Federal reserve to continue implementing programs to control YOUR life.
I know its far fetched, but we need to brainstorm and take action. Everyone that comes on this website and others like it needs to STOP TALKING FOR ONCE, AND START TAKING ACTION! We need to get Alex Jones to publicize it and get others in Media to follow.
The protests of all prostests!!!!!!!! The “DON’T PAY YOUR TAXES” protest
Obviously everyone will be forced to pay sales tax but that is ok, Do me a favor and name something that isn’t taxed?…………..That’s hard to answer isn’t it. How in the HELL did we as a Nation that represents and symbolizes Liberty, Justice, and Freedom for the Entire World allow are Constitution to be overran and kicked to the garbage can like this?
The Reason is we are all selfish and trying to look out for what’s best for ourselves and immediate family. We are all trying to Survive by making money and working hard and going to school everyday. We are all too busy with our own lives to do anything that takes time and money to help the greater good.
They have sucked us all into the rat race and web of involving yourself into slavery monday through friday, and some weekends too. A slavery by which you work everyday for hours and hours just to get the scraps of their wealth. Their wealth by the way which is created from paper and a printer and the letter of the Law which they enforce with city, county, state, and federal officers whom which all are FUNDED by YOUR TAXES!
I know this is a long shot protest, but if we are to truly do anything to stand up and fight, rallying the American people to not pay taxes is the way to do it. We bankrupt the government and the Federal Reserve!
If the numbers of participants are large enough, how in the heck can they enforce anything upon us with government officers, We are a country of 307,000,000 people, how many jails and officers and military members do they have to take down the majority of poverty, working, and middle class citizens who would choose to not pay their taxes? NOWHERE NEAR ENOUGH.
Get the enitre nation to QUIT PAYING YOUR TAXES, for this to work we need as many people of the 307,709,681 U.S. Population to participate as possible, for if it only ends up being few that rally up and stop paying, they will all suffer and go to jail…We need to plan this wisely and get MASSIVE NUMBERS behind us for this to WORK.
THROW OUT IDEAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As stated above:
They may print more money, they may try to scare everyone, but right now 3.3 million people are out a job that were in a job a year ago, that is 3.3 million less people that will pay taxes this year and the next, perhaps for a few years. But what if 200 million people didn’t pay any taxes and just let the Government fund itself into a black pit that will only bring to the changes we want, a new President, a new Congress, a who bunch of new people in the White house and it sounds easy, but people get scared and end up paying their taxes. SO if we can work on getting everyone to stop paying taxes, we can get rid of the problems by making them go broke instead.

Nothing says, I’m not going back out there to fight, them crazy son of bitches, like poison. Ask the Romans. A simple diarrhea outbreak, can take more men off the battlefield than some halfassed IED or some haphazard shootout. There is things in the natural world that can do some impressive things to a man. One would need a mule to carry that all at once. but preparation dictates that one can start to bring in some supplies , wrap and bury them near a strategic location area that one plans to vacate to upon activation of one’s intuitive advance warning system. or one could split up the carrying hopefully with another person. Also one can make a few dry runs to practice survival skills at deer camp or nature hikes.

You can easily carry all that in a pack. I’ve had more in my pack and humped 15+ miles in 5 hours. MOLLE system packs and load bearing vests or plate carriers can carry everything from ammunition pouches, first aid kits, miscellaneous pouches for maps and all sorts of things.

I woulld reccommend various levels of planning. stage one would include burrying some wholefood vitamins, minerals like magnesium citrate, colloidal minerals screened for heavy metals, and others that are amenable to long term storage. One is probably going to need to do this anyway and should have already done so given the strong possiblity that codex alimentarius will be combined with inspection teams. stege two planning might include pre planning a place to run to the wilderness and burrying some heavy items such as toos, boots, rope, portable burner and fuel, sleeping bags, you know, things bigger and heavier that can be wrapped and burried before the shtf. this way if a stage three full blown evacuation/ red dawn situation develops it can be much easier to implement.

red dawn, I kind of want to do what your suggesting just for the fun of it, you know, to have a sort of mid life interuption from the daily grind of paying bills, sucking up to the boss, always having to act a certain way to please society. I would think maybe a four stage plan would be even better. stage one, burrying vitamins, minerals that one might need under codex alimentarius, that likely soon won’t be available and prohibited . stage two , getting all the heavy stuff burried near your site, stage three, painstakingly going over your plans and adding all the little things that might provide some degree of comfort in a red dawn situation like say chocolate, cigarettes, feminine napkins, toilet paper, nail clippers, ect, and burrying them as well. stage four, evacuation into the wilderness for a full blown red dawn situation, probably at this point you might have to take family members who previously thought you were a paranoid lunatic, at least if one did this pre planning one might be able to take them, instead of leaving them to die.

You’re right, I don’t know why stupid Americans can’t see it. They seem to be all in favor of the government banning something that they don’t like. Yeah that’s an easy one to go along with. But when we start down that slippery slope, it’s only a matter of time till they ban something you do like, or want to do. That’s the very nature of government. The more they take, the more they want, and they will not stop. This is one thing our Forefathers knew all too well, that’s why we have a Constitution that limits government. You need to think OUTSIDE the box, and realize what’s going on.

Jobs. Its the economy, stupid. Man, the shriveled minds I am surrounded by, know no bounds. People are just going to go to Oregon and buy that TV anyway, and then avoid the sales tax in the process… Idiots. All idiots. Man, you know, Bill Nye is in on this too. What a maroon.
So Riddle me this, even if you buy energy efficient bulbs, for your meager 1200 sq ft house, and energy efficient appliances, and splurge on this TV, Al Gore’s Mansion is still more pious that thow? What a crock. California, I have said this before, and I’ll say it again:

California can be full of crap. Anything they think is neat and cool they want to start taking it away. California is a republican run state, it is only for the rich people. The prices on food there are sky rocket high. I advise that anyone who lives in CA move to other states. But do your research first. I guess hollywood does not want everyone to see the big picture in their movies. We’ve had this discussion before : Global Warming is a complete lie and deception and was mean’t to make people lives like a living hell. Most people in CA are homeless and planning on moving to different states. My family did it and so will others. We moved to Virginia and living as best we can. Inflation is vacumming up our savings and we never see money laying around the house like we did back in the day. That money is going towards to foreign banks while it should stay here under the love seat.

From an economic view, making electrical devices more efficient is a good thing. A free marketeer may view government intervention in this matter as unnecessary and should be left for the market to decide. The way this article was written suggests an “arrogant” group of regulators doing this the way the “luxury tax” was implemented. If you have money, they’re going to punish you for it, one way or another.

Nice, I see Alex Jones et al are promoting MSM propoganda and hype. This article and them posting it proves it.
The state is not banning big screen tv’s! It wants to regulate the energy efficiency and the only reason it is bad to regulate this is because we all know it is not for the better good, it is for control of many other things in the future.
This site claims there are TV cameras in the new plasma, computer/flat screen tv/moniters in order for the gov to watch you and you believe it…so do I! But and this is a big but, how can it be that this site is hyping the MSM headliner as if the NWO is going to take these devices away from you?

Put solar panels on the roofs of all homes, complete with inverter and storage batteries. Then disconnect these homes from the grid for good. Finally, start manufacturing plug-in vehicles with extra battery packs and tell the Middle East to go screw itself.
WHY are Americans so mindless?!?!

Sounds great, but where are we going to get the funding for such a project? The government would not even give us a pot to piss in! But they would give a pot to China, India, and other countries. Have you been reading and recording Alex Jones Show podcasts and rewinding them and he is saying ” The money is going to the offshore banks (China, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, North Korea, and South Korea) and we are going to hell in a handbasket. How in the hell are we going to get this going when Obama keeps on ignoring our ideas because he is NWO material. Try to talk to someone about this idea. We should have done this along time ago. We might have to do this project together ourselves. So what does SD stand for “Sunny Days?”

maybe in a month you might get enough juice out of your solar panel to drive around the block. you’re a genius.

I don’t think we’re mindless. Well, at least not the majority. But we are self centered and as long as we could have our 3 bedroom house, 2.5 kids, and 2.5 cars, all was well in the world. Collectively we haven’t cared about sweat shop labor, the environment, foreign policies that benefited dictators and Juntas at the expense of its people or anything else adverse. If you’re doing well, it’s easy to put a fig leaf on all that stuff.
Every great nation that went the way the U.S. is going has met its demise. Nature, the universe, whatever or however people want to refer to it, has its own laws, and human beings like it or not, is a part of nature. And when we go too far out of balance, nature will take its own corrective course, regardless of how we feel about it.

I’ll save my applause for when they announce they’re banning TV, not just big screen monitors. Television is a mind control technology and always has been. It was invented and developed under the supervision of the Department of Defense. Phill T. Farnsworth, inventor of the technology, was working for the DOD on a top secret clearance and so was his nearest rival, Vladimir Zworkin, who was employed by David Sarnoff, the founder of RCA, which was the first maker of TV sets. Sarnoff had CIA ties and so did his closest friend, Albert Lasker, the father of modern advertising.

This might be a good thing. This should get a lot of sheeple to realize that the govt. is out of hand. If poison flu shots, harrasment at the airport by TSA, and military on the streets don’t get their attention, then taking away their big screens will.

How you stop the NWO is by not buying shit you don’t need. Stop being a consumer.

Plasma is high-power and uses the same toxic phosphors as a CRT. LCD displays use fluoro tubes (toxic murcury and phosphor) to achieve the backlighting, although now there are newer models that use high-bright LEDs to replace the tubes, and therefore use less energy. Once OLED technology has a proper foothold in this industry, then energy consumption will be less of a concern. In the meantime, tech savvy people should stick with LCD and then when the fluoro tubes need replacing, you will probably be able to string SMD high-bright LEDs in place of the fluoro tubes.

Isn’t it funny that they would do something like ban power hungry devices yet there’s no utilization of either solar, battery, hydrogen power to provide a cleaner alternative….whats wrong California? I thought you were going to lead the way? Step aside…all talk and no action. Can’t even stick a charge against Haliburton for all the brownouts and conspiracy to defraud Californians with overpriced energy. Thanks to Schwarzzeneger he swept all those lawsuits under the rug. So why would you even vote for him? Gray Davis was better.

I tried warning people that Arnie was being pushed to stop those lawsuits and that we were being defrauded by the energy cartels. I warned before the election. But Nooo… People just believed what the mainstream media was saying and voted Arnie Nazinegger anyways. Even after the videos came out that proved the energy companies were creating phony scarcity and phony brownouts, they still would not listen. Now Arnie signed the ammunition bill, that is guaranteed will spread to the rest of the nation.

Even though the New TVs use $180 Less energy.

So what about energy efficiency? Well, LCD’s use between 2-4 times less energy than plasma TV’s do, depending on who you ask. They both use way less energy than the “regular” kind of tube TV (CRT) that most of us had (and still have) in our homes, but the LCD definitely comes out the winner on energy efficiency. LCD’s use florescent backlighting to display the images, which is a definite energy saver over plasma technology. Many of these TV’s are also Energy Star rated, but keep in mind that getting that rating on a TV is only a measurement of how much energy the TV uses while in standby mode and not while it is in full operation. And if you are like me, you will have it plugged into a power strip and cutting all the power anyway when you aren’t using it. For pure energy and cost savings while watching TV, buying an LCD is definitely the way to go. But once you bring it home, what should you do with your old TV set?
If it is still working, donate it or give it away to someone who could use a TV that still works fine. Try Goodwill, The Salvation Army, Craigslist.org or Freecycle.org.
If it does not work anymore, do not just toss it in the trash (In many communities this is actually against the law due to the amount of chemicals in them). Check out Earth 911 or the EPA’s site to find a recycling center close to you that can handle this kind of e-waste.
October 15th, 2009 at 5:28 pm
the law should be that if you have a tv that is less that forty-two inches your children are euthanised
October 15th, 2009 at 5:51 pm
We should strip naked

Hey Red Dawn, you are crazy or just trying to make a buck. No way masses can make it like that. Maybe a few who learn to survive in the wilderness. For those of you who are going to try, take a trip to the Uinta Mountains in Northern Utah. It’s beautiful up there with pine trees, mountain lakes and streams, deer, elk, and probably some bears. Be aware though, sometimes men don’t make it out alive. I used to work with a guy when I live in Utah who was a mountain man. Almost every weekend he would go up to the Uintas and camp alone. Well, one Monday morning he didn’t show up for work. That was about 30 years ago and he hasn’t come back yet. Still up there somewhere. Hey Red Dawn, maybe you can talk to his ghost or something when you are up there.

I hope they pass this law.
They pass the ammunition bill and surprise surprise all the phony 2nd Amed. nra people and so called patriots stand down. hahahahahahahahahah……….pathetic.
October 15th, 2009 at 8:33 pm
Ihey probably won’t be allowed to do this. Obama / NWO NEED people to have those Big Screen TV’s so they can receive their programming.
This is just a scare tactic or ruse for something they’re gonna slip by.
October 15th, 2009 at 9:07 pm
This is a stopgap measure. When the full grid goes into place, some fellow in Maine, “serving his country”, will be able to monitor an entire California neighborhood and turn off TV sets if the owners are being energy hogs. That is, if he’s finished gettin’ his kicks watchin’ for shoplifters in the aisles of the Walmart, or threatening jaywalkers over the video/audio camera installations in downtown Pittsburgh. It’ll be a topsy turvy waverly world, where dignity and courage are fed to the dogs.

Do we have to wait for California to secede or can we all just vote to kick them out and send them to China? They can keep all the fruits and nuts and we’ll keep the land.

Was it comissioner Gordon??? mabe the guy who wrote this could call him on the “Batphone” for a direct quote.

may swell the activists ranks if the governments take away the plasma, thats a death sentance for some….lol

Probably the only way to get rid of Pelosi is when Obama declares the big amnesty. At that point, millions and millions of Chinese in California will be legal the very next day. Following that, they will vote Chinese, as they always do, and Pelosi is not Chinese. End of story, beginning of new story.

This is true, what is msm air waves? I haven’t had a tv for twenty years plus. But I catch myself going into jungle village mode if I visit a friends house with tv. You know, sit in a trance stareing sponge like at the moving pictures. Sad case really, it’s either that reaction or I am amazed people degrade themselves by allowing all that puril cerebral toxic poison to have access to that wonderfull machine called mind.
On the Chinese topic, let us not forget Churchill, ‘ There lies a sleeping giant, do not wake him’.
Katy, what do you mean, millions and millions of Chinese. How many are there in the state of Californication.

Buy a big screen TV—-go to jail!!!!
Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing ALL TV’s gone, but I am not going to support making it a freakin’ law!!!!! If people want to be mindless idiot slaves to the 65″ peephole to paradise, it is their business.
However, they will have one rude awakening when the FEMA goons show up at their door to cart them away. They didn’t know about this because they were too busy being glued to “American Idol”, “WWF”, “John and Kate, plus 8″, and all the other snivelling crap that is on there.

In LCD panels and LCD TVs, most of the power is consumed by the backlight source. These days, almost all desktop LCD monitor and LCD TV utilise CCFL lamps that consume a lot of electric power since they have to be driven by high voltage inverter.
“When using LED backlight, the power consumption can be reduced by 50 per cent. In Samsung’s 40inch LCD TV, it consumed 170W. After it changed to LED backlight, it only consumed 100W,” Mao said.
Similar savings of energy should more than satisfy any legislation over 40 inches. This control freak agenda is getting ridiculous, at the exact time new technology allows larger screens at almost half the conventional current. As usual the politicians are technologically illiterate and impose obsolete specifics in their arbitrary 40 inch cutoff limit.
