California to Suspend Welfare Checks

The state will suspend tax refunds, welfare checks, student grants and other payments owed to Californians starting Feb. 1, Controller John Chiang announced Friday.

Chiang said he had no choice but to stop making some $3.7 billion in payments in the absence of action by the governor and lawmakers to close the state’s nearly $42-billion budget deficit. More than half of those payments are tax refunds.
The controller said the suspended payments could be rolled into IOUs if California still lacks sufficient cash to pay its bills come March or April.
“It pains me to pull this trigger,” Chiang said at a news conference in his office. “But it is an action that is critically necessary.”
The payments to be frozen include nearly $2 billion in tax refunds; $300 million in cash grants for needy families and the elderly, blind and disabled; and $13 million in grants for college students.
Even if a budget agreement is reached by the end of this month, tax refunds and other payments could remain temporarily frozen. Chiang said a budget deal may not generate cash quickly enough to resume them immediately.

im with all of you on this it rocks! but, i used to live in the getto down in phoenix az and boy would they go crazy down there if for some reason those checks werent delivered on the right day.. postal workers were getting death threats, chased down by crazy people.. the part i lived in was a mess and a lot of cali is much like the area i lived in, this is really gonna start some trouble, maybe this is the reason they deployed so many troops throughout cali?? just a thought. well here comes the civil unrest! and they never even got a chance to cool down from that bart shooting, theyre gonna go nuts!

The solution to “overpaying taxes” is simple. Change/fill out a new W-4 form and claim 5-8 dependents for witholding. You keep your money and if you end up paying.. you pay the GVt for the priviledge of being a citizen in YOUR state/country.

People worked and produced for themselves prior to the instituition of welafre/social programs less 40 years ago. They will do it again. The problem is the txation for supporting these GVT mandated funds will never be reduced so the producing people of society can kep more of what they earn.
Hunger is a good incentive for the rest to get off their asses and get to work doing something.

Come on people this isn’t ALL good. I feel very sorry for those (working people) who expected a tax refund and paid more into the system than they deserved to! I also feel for those who are normally hard working people that have lost their jobs due to the economy and are collecting unemployment while they try to get back on their feet! As for the bottom feeders that are on welfare and always have been- I couldn’t be happier their payments will be cut off!!!! I can agree with an unemployment system that aides those who WORK that for some reason or another get laid off or lose their jobs, but a welfare system-there shouldn’t even be such a thing!! The payments that they DO make should be to pay tax refunds FIRST before any unemployment or welfare is paid (they should just cut off welfare permanently!) I’m seeing massive civil unrest in California in the near future…all part of the plan I’m sure so they can bring Martial Law down on the people. If you’re living in Cali I hope you have big guns and a lot of ammo….you’re gonna need it when the criminal/immoral welfare population goes nuts over this!!!

Unfortunately in California we are not allowed to adjust our with holdings for state taxes. I can change my exemptions for my Federal Taxes but my W4 does not allow me to change my State withholdings so the State will owe me less after I file. This amounts to extortion if the State begins stealing my money by this threatened method.
At this point, it may be time to start treating these criminals like they deserve and bring them to justice! We still have trees and rope in this state, maybe the nazinator needs to be strung up?

I got kidney stones , lost my job cause I missed 5 days of work, lost my health benefits (cause I lost my job) and what am I supposed to do? I look for work all day EVERY day. I collect unemployment..money I paid into a state account. Too many people are used to getting thier checks dinged..Then at the end of the year RIGHT OFF EVERYTHING and send an IUO. Ask for time to pay and get another 90 days, then ask for payment to be made on the tax you owe, another couple months and then pay what you want and then roll it over every year. The s---s gonna hit the fan on the dollar anyway so keep yours as long as you can and swap it up for food and gold. I am from CA and I have paid hundreds of thousands in taxes over the years only to see the Mexicans take it all while the schools and roads fall apart.

There is no money. That’s the problem. This is what happens when laws are just ignored. All states have constitutional requirements to balance their budgets, remember the 90’s when people would say the federal gov’t should be like the states? Well, now all the states run defiects anyway, even though it violates their constitutions. We have entered an era of lawlessness. It is supposed to be impossible for a state not to hav the money to fund it’s obligations, but here we are living in a lawless nation, where Presidents don’t have to be citizens anymore. And, state ignore their founding documents.

Think of the stampede of illegals coming across the border into the adjoining states of Nevada, Oregon. The influx in indigent care requirements will bankrupt these states as well and really there is nothing stopping them from moving further east to more climate friendly states like Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. I am a nurse practitioner in Saginaw, MI and this state is in as big of trouble as CA. I have mothers who want their 5 year old uncontrolled brats on disability for ADHD. If a female gets pregnant she now has state health insurance until the child reaches 18 years old. That’s why they have the kids. I have patients who don’t know their biological dad, but they’re sure he has 17 kids by other women, and I have patients with 15 kids by 15 different guys. I work in a detention center for juveniles and these kids are all trying to get pregnant at 11,12,13 years old. They guys are proud to have 3 kids by 17, they feel it reflects their manhood. They expect a check!!! I could tell you stories all day of the things I have experienced suffice it to say I am sick of the welfare recipients, all of them need sterilization, chemical or surgical.
I just heard the State of MI has put all new unemployment claims on hold. The ‘big three’ are not going to bring back the number of jobs available prior to the gutting that our great governor Granholm has implemented. She has offered tax incentives to the movie industry, yet ran Pfizer out losing 3000 jobs. Michigan has been #1 for three years straight for people moving out. I may be the next to leave.

I personally know three homeless people quite well. They are all psychotic and need help desperately. I do what I can, which amount to about $1,000 cash per month out of my pocket. They are not family or even personal friends ,but no one will help them. They aren’t even capable to fill out the welfare papers.
What is happening here in America is a total crime. The American people are being looted and those they can’t work or think clearly and have no family are relegated to the grave yard. Some “Christian” nation we have here. But we do have hundred of billions for irrelevant foreign wars and as gifts to the financial elite.
It is now time for a fundamental change in America and I don’t mean Obama, whose major change will be moving the troops from Iraq to Afghanistan.

You notice how the cut the exact programs that would do the most psychological damage, in order to cause people to OPPOSE budget cuts. Rather than coming up with an abstract plan to cut the overall budget, it is this emergency cut of just aid to the elderly and so forth. Geezus. I can think of other areas to cut that would be more appropriate. How about emptying prisons and jails of non violent drug offenders, and then laying off many of those gestapo jail guards? How about shutting down an entire department or agency or something and laying off GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES? I mean, if the government can’t even make the welfare payments, then doesn’t this prove that government itself is totally unnecessary for our welfare? I am a health care worker with the aged. I have a casual position, but at least it’s some work so I am not complaining. My heart and prayers are especially with the pensioners; and those too of families with small children who have lost jobs and find themselves in need of income support. Now this hit! Thinking and praying for you all. Band together with your neighbours and communities if you can. Together we are stronger than a single unit.

The people who need help are not getting it because the people who should not be getting help are sucking all the money and resources they can out of the system. I have patients who are schizophrenic and sincerely need help, I have patients with psychotic disorders from heavy drug and alcohol use who should not be on the dole, who never should be on the dole. Recently one of them who had appealed their disability claim, everyone is rejected the first go round, was awarded back pay of $3000, and OD’d on crack when he got the check. Cutting off assistance or aid of any sort to illegal aliens and restoring aid to US citizens would be a good start. Shrink the size of state gov. and cut gov. salaries. This might encourage illegals to go back home and help fix thier own countries and open up jobs for US citizens which would increase tax revenues. Cut corporate taxes which are umongst the highest in the world and encourage new business which would create more jobs.
Create oversight to scrutinize every dollar going in and coming out of the state budget and eliminate waste. It`s a simple fix if political correctness is sidestepped.

Could somebody please explain why CA is struggling for money. Doesn’t Hollywood, the adult entertainment industy, Silicon Valley and all the major corporations that hold their headquaters in the state contribute enormous amounts of tax. Shouldn’t they have ther highest rate of income tax second only to NY perhaps.
I think whatever the reason, the Government is as usual, intentionally screwing the worst off in society because they know they have too much of a sense of apathy/hopelessness and won’t do enough about it, because they think they can’t.

Do your part when you can to make the government spend money they dont have, do it. Even if it’s a light bulb. A door knob, or hammer.
Truth be told the NOW want’s the same thing. So they have created a system destined to fail so they could replace it with the one they prefer. A NWO.
We must wait till the time is right. When the economic system finally implodes. Predictably there will be wide spread panic. That is when our enemies will be at their most vulnerable. The money system is the weapon. Withdraw your money from the banks. When it collapses, we wont be able to travel, to work, school. Have plenty of food in the house so you can stay home comfortably. There are a lot of Hispanic illegals who don’t even seek Welfare because they are afraid of being deported, even though they can legally seek welfare for any children born here, they don’t. Most Hispanics that are on Welfare are legal immigrants or are 2nd or 3rd generation, and yes there are some illegals getting welfare for their children, but not a huge number. Here are some more observations
1. Hispanics are very hard working, they will work their ass off for just a little bit of money. They rather work than freeload if given the choice
2. I don’t see many welfare Whites or Blacks clamoring to work in service industries (fast food, hotels, landscape, construction), why work for minimum wage when the govt can give me more.
3. They come here from Mexico and other Latin American countries because of U.S. / NWO policies have coerced these countries into unmaneagable debt. Most natural resources, farming are controlled by foreign interest in Latin America because of defaulted debt. Profits don’t go back into the country. Therefore lots of these poor people flock to the U.S.
4. There is a reason that most illegal immigrants are typically of indigenous darker indian race. It is because the white hispanics are the only ones who have and get descent jobs, and don’t need to come to the U.S. for work.
5. I’d bet a lot of people who hate illegals are just bothered about seeing more brown people in the country. It’s not really about welfare or burdening the medical system. If the illegals were for instance of European descent it wouldn’t bother them as much. There is a good number of non-Hispanic illegals in the country, but almost always people think “Mexican”

Illegal aliens do NOT have the “right” to anything that citizens or legal residents do. Regardless of the immigrants country of origin, we have laws in this country. We are a good and just nation because our citizens obey laws, pay for those laws that they do not obey, and work within the legal framework of the Constitution to change those they disagree with. Why should I, or anyone else that resides in this country legally, accept the notion that those that decided to subvert the system of government to which they claim to want to be a part of deserve any “right” to be granted immunity? Obeying only those laws that are selfishly convenient is disrespectful to all those who do obey the laws of the land, work to maintain the land, fight to protect it, and die to defend it, all to make this a place worth living in. It also further breeds the hurtful idea that taking advantage of the good nature of others is acceptable. This is how governments and societies decay and eventually fail. There are LEGAL means already in place to enter this country. If someone seeks a better life here, it IS already possible. One can obtain a visa, a green card, and eventually citizenship. Millions have done so, and continue to do so, and prove that it works. Using the excuse that this country was founded by illegals is invalid, unless one is trying to make the argument that the current influx of illegal aliens is an attempt to steal land, and uproot, supplant, and destroy the peoples that already exist on these lands, much like the European settlers did to the Native Americans. We are different people than those that came before us, and we are better for it. If residence in this country is worth obtaining, it is worth equal effort to respect this country’s laws and its people.

It is sad that people have to flame other people behind their monitors, cause most would never do it in person, too many chickens in this world. We The People must take charge or we’ll loose everything. – However I believe we are completely past the “We The People Must Take Charge” bit.
To answer your question, the smarter one is the one that believes by faith and walks with the Lord. “The System” will win one way or another, since we are pretty much the final “free nation” of this planet. The USG is preparing, if not already ready, for the war at home with it’s citizens. All they need to do is continue to kill the dollar and wait for the riots to begin. Then the “Real Time of Sorrow” will begin and Man’s hearts will finally grow cold.

I for one will never bash welfare recipients, I started off on welfare until i found employment. All you guys who are speaking ill of people getting hand outs, How many of you guys used those same exact programs to get where you are today? Not to many people were born rich i know i wasnt. I agree with one of the earlier post someone left that, One thing affects another , A trickle down effect, In other words after the poor gets attacked, The working class will get our turn, And so on and so forth. People are losing their jobs left and right, Notices get sent out daily telling people not to report to work with a date definite, So its not just the unemployed that will suffer. Life is like a drain, And with a struggling economy we all will go down it some sooner than others, We are all pretty much waiting our turn to sink down it.
