California Town to Use “Eye in the Sky” to “Fight Crime”

LANCASTER – In what they say is the first step toward a new era in law enforcement techniques, city officials are testing a small airplane mounting a high-tech surveillance camera to help fight crime.
The aerial surveillance system features high-definition video recording technology that is capable of viewing people or objects
several miles away and whose images can later be magnified to identify the individuals, officials said.
“You never know when you are being watched or followed. It would be stupid to commit a crime. You see it with such detail,” said Mayor R. Rex Parris, who took a ride last week in a camera-equipped airplane with pilot Dick Rutan.

Such surveillance technology is used by the military, NASA and a limited number of other federal agencies, but Lancaster would be the first entity in the United States to use it for general public safety, officials said.
Parris asked Rutan, a Mojave Air and Space Port commissioner who is famous for piloting the Voyager aircraft around the world nonstop and unrefueled in 1986, for assistance in developing the concept of placing an “eye in the sky” over Lancaster.
At first, Rutan looked into deploying the camera on an unmanned aircraft to patrol the city’s skies, but that proved to be too expensive and faced too many difficulties with Federal Aviation Administration regulations.
Using a conventional small plane “solves all kinds of problems,” Rutan said. “It’s a lot cheaper to have a pilot on board than a drone.”
For the first demonstration flight last week, the camera was mounted on a Cessna Caravan, but Rutan is researching smaller general aviation aircraft for the aerial platform.
The camera is an example of technology developed for and used by the military making a transition to civilian applications, Rutan said.
“I’m pretty impressed with the quality of the imagery you’re able to get, day and night,” he said. “I think it would be a terrific tool for law enforcement.”
“I’m really excited to be part of it,” Rutan said.
During the demonstration flight, the system was used to observe a car accident, a city announcement said.
The camera detected the collision due to the heat produced by the vehicles, and within seconds focused on the area and provided a clear picture of all vehicles and people in the area.
The mayor said he can’t predict how long it will take to make the “eye in the sky” operational.
City officials said in the announcement that the trial flight exceeded their expectations, but called it just the first step in the process.
“This demonstration is a major milestone in a project that will improve the quality of life in the Antelope Valley,” City Manager Mark Bozigian said in the announcement.
“To put it simply, it works. The next step is to make it operational, which includes financial considerations.”

This surrvaillance Is already happening across the nation especially, low -income areas. Every time you hear a helicopter go by even some airplanes consider that heat – vision has been around for awhile and that law enforcement and federal agencies can look in on you any time it pleases.

You sir are correct. Black neighborhoods in California such as South Central Los Angeles, Inglewood, Compton and etc. have been using helicopters to patrol these neighborhoods since the late 1980’s. But since the typical Alex Jones audience are not aware what goes on in these urban community, this will come to them as a new surprise. I lived in South St.Petersburg for years, I had gotten so used to helicopters flying over, that when I moved, I couldn’t sleep cause it was TOO quiet! So they may have spared YOUR HOOD, But don’t bash someone til you have been to ALL hoods!
And I HAVE been to L.A. county and watched the cops screw with people in helicopters, It MAY be different in N.J., But the rest of the Country knows how it is when big brother gets a bright shiny new toy!

It’s the camera, not the plane, and it is the “civilian application” as opposed to use for “the military”.

I’ve got a much better idea on how to combat crime, without violating everyones privacy, ENFORCE THE LAWS! Most of these criminals out there get a slap on the wrist, or 3 meals & a cot, as punishment. I’ll bet you if you know you are going to die if you murder, rape, or terrorize, you’ll think twice about committing the crime to begin with. However, because the powers that be, would rather gain control over everyone, & everything because of the crimes of a few, they benefit off of, not only the social chaos that goes hand & hand with injustice, but the power that comes with not addressing justice. Notice the people who commit acts of revenge, get twice as much time, as the people who commit the real crimes? There is no worse slap in the face, than to have your Government, or State, sentence a child rapist to 3 years, & then giving a life sentence to the father who does what the Law should have done to begin with, & rids the world of such an evil being! Most people don’t realize this, but there is big business, in injustice, or preventing order in society. Because then, the citizens rely on the Government, or Law Enforcement to preserve every area of our daily lives. America has become a culture that allows injustice, because we can’t be mean to criminals! Our Constitution says that you have freedom & Liberty, only until you abuse it, at which point you lose it!

The calender was on the lid of the tomb of the Mayan Lord Pacal of Palenque. The calender ends on that day. Please google it.

This is just another tactic to seek out and apprehend freedom loving, trouble making “terrorists” and resistors. The “civilians” like us, who take a stand for our Constitutional Rights and are not willing to lay down and die without a fight. I grew up in the San Fernando Valley and had friends who lived in the Lancaster-Palmdale area. There were plenty of places to go unnoticed if you wanted to camp or hunt among the hills, Joshua trees and sage brush…I imagine there still are, even after twenty some years. Anyone who tends to think this constant surveillance, under the guise of fighting crime is okay, had better snap out of their state of delirium and see things for what they really are. It will be those of you (more concerned about what’s on TV, which sports team you are rooting for, trying to make your lawn outshine your neighbor’s and what you can spend your last hard earned dollar on at Walmart) who will cry the loudest in the end. It is funny that the establishment says, “You never know when you are being watched or followed. It would be stupid to commit a crime.”
But when the gun owner says, “You never know who has a gun and will shoot you dead, it would be stupid to commit a crime.” We are told that it is madness and it would never work. In my mind, the establishment just proved it would.

the crime rate in my down has been so bad now the police dept. had called in the FBI to help. I live in a mid size farming town. I wonder what crazy things are going to be happening now. I wonder if it has anything to do with the old military base we live by.
