Canadian dairy farmer takes on role as lawyer, defending himself

NEWMARKET, Ont. — A renegade dairy farmer played the role of a lawyer Monday at the start of his trial for selling raw, unpasteurized milk and suggested his rights have been violated.

Spectators crowded into a small courtroom to hear details of an orchestrated, armed raid by about two dozen officers and government officials on a Durham, Ont., farm in 2006.
The Crown said it will disclose evidence of a clandestine, undercover investigation into the illegal sale of dangerous substances stored on the farm, sometimes on clear display in open sight.
The illicit products, which spawned 20 charges against farm owner Michael Schmidt, were raw milk, as well as cream, cheese and other items made with it.
Schmidt, who is defending himself, was defiant in countering Crown suggestions that raw milk is considered too dangerous for consumption and said he’s defending everyone’s right to drink it.
He drank a big gulp of raw milk from a mason jar in court during a recess.
In his opening statement, Schmidt said the core issue was not milk but the “respect to (which) the individual’s freedom has been lost or wilfully ignored.”
While raw milk is legal to drink it’s illegal to sell in Canada. Schmidt has been charged in connection with selling it to about 150 customers.

OMG, I’m from Newmarket Ontario and we used to buy stuff from the farms all the time; they sure were better than that s--- at the grocery store! Part of our school field trips were also going to the farms.
How many of us have been squirted in the face by a farmer or farm hand milking a cow by hand. I guess that would be outlawed then too? Heaven help us if we learn about nature! I don’t know this farmer, but Crossland Farms used to be one of the biggest in the are. Of course they got pushed out by corporations and big box companies for malls!
Anyways, how far are ‘they’ going to take this nonsense! I’d take that fresh ‘poison’ off the farm any day of my life! At least it ain’t filled with flouried!
Ugh, too bad for the little guy! I’m going to check out the Newmarket papers to see if this is there.

Although I do agree with farmers right to sell and consumers right to drink raw milk. Lets not forget the fact that MILK is for baby cows. Its not meant for humans and besides soy milk tastes way better and is not mucus forming.

If you do not disagree with the right to sell, buy or drink raw milk then that is great, but before you say we were not meant to drink cows milk, what are we supposed to do? Woman can not produce enough milk to feed the human population.
If you choose to drink soy then you are most likely drinking GMO soy milk. No thank you!

I love milk and drink it constantly; but mother nature dictates that all animals stop drinking milk after infancy. Please give me a list of animals that “naturally” drink milk all their lives. I’m pretty sure you will come up with none? Only humans, to my knowledge, continue to drink milk after infancy.
Everyone says milk gives you calcium for stronger bones and that’s why you should drink it. But then no one seems to care that Spinach has more calcium than milk and so do many other vegetables.
But anywho… I still drink my milk and don’t know how I would eat my oreo cookies without it.
PS: I put “naturally” in there because giving your dog a bowl of milk doesn’t count.

Also, that soy milk reduces male testosterone. They are pushing it as a way to de-masculate the male and make him more feminine. It messes with the female estrogen and can make you more infertile.

That is very true and not true. I believe that soy has a naturally occurring enzime that mimics estrogen. I don’t believe it actually lowers testosterone. I think you are pushing it by saying “they are pushing it as a way to de-masculate the male. Thats a crock. It’s being pushed to make investors money..plain and simple.
Women are supposed to limit their intake of Ginseng because it has a hormone similar to testosterone naturally in it.

Never had real milk before, just the sick pasteurized poison I grew up with. I heard its healthy though, goes great with cake and cookies. I hope it doesn’t make me fart like a steam engine 3 hours after drinking it like the others, espicially soy.

I buy raw milk once a week in a nice big ol mason jar. Wont say where cause I know selling it is illegal and I’d hate to get the family into trouble because then I’d lose my only connect for such a great and healthy product. RAW MILK IS BETTER THEN PASTURIZED CRAP.

Also goggle for soy and estrogen imbalance. Happened to my baby who was allergic to cow’s milk formula. Switched her to raw goat’s milk along with my milk and vitamin supplement. Problem went away. I reserve the right to consume raw milk and share it with others who want to do the same.

We as eaters must be responsible for the food we buy,the onus is on us to check out the source,you can check out most farmers barns,ask Cargill to inspect their facilitys,fat chance!!
The public is the one who can help farmers and themselves retain their rights to food choice…oh and telling your govt to kiss off canr hurt!

It’s all about money. Milk won’t keep long term unless it’s pasteurized (boiled at high heat) which destroys most of it’s nutritional value and the worst homogenization (they slam the milk in accelerators and shred the molecules to keep the milk from separating). Homogenized milk is milk that’s shredded , the molecules that are shredded now scar your arteries . Drinking FDA approved milk on any regular basis shortens your life. Par for the course tho for the FDA. All your grocery stores couldn’t sell milk unless it was homogenized because it would spoil before it got to the store. Organic milk is still homogenized, it’s still bad. You have no other option in communist USA tho, just state approved toxic waste.
The reason we have a cholesterol problem is not the cholesterol levels in our bodies, it’s the scarred arteries that the cholesterol sticks too that’s the problem. It’s great if you sell statin drugs tho because every milk drinker out there will need your maintenance drug at one point . People drinking natural raw milk would completely undermine the system, that farmer is a terrorist my God!!!! Healthy people!!!!! OMG!!!! They wouldn’t need drugs!!!!They would have energy to do things and we can’t have that. They wouldn’t just sit on the couch and watch the state controlled news. I support local farmers wholeheartedly. But, milk from a cow is for baby cows. Not people. Drink juice… it does a body good.
Vegetables that contain calcium include soy milk and juice, calcium-set tofu, soybeans and soynuts, bok choy, broccoli, collards, Chinese cabbage, kale, mustard greens, and okra. Grains, beans (other than soybeans), fruits, and vegetables (other than those listed) can contribute to calcium intake but cannot replace these key foods.
Avoid dairy and meat products and you will avoid obesity, diabetes and cancer.

Raw milk in my fridge lasts up to 3 weeks,then it becomes sour creme/cheese,never had store bought milk last much more than a week and after sours its spoiled,cant get the curd to work right.
This is just one of the problems farmers face,such as low prices(money goes to the middleman)cheap imports,GMO drift,water rights being taken by govts,NAIS(national animal id system) and others,farmers have a fight just to survive as the govt pays agrbiz to destroy small farmers so many dont have time or money to fight the govticorp,I remind you though that it was farmers who kicked king georges butt and it may happen again but not without help from all Americans who love liberty,this fight is gonna take all of us not just us farmers!

I have no idea whether raw or pasteurized milk is good or not for you but: If the Crown is behind the investigation AND it accuses a farmer of selling what they describe as “dangerous substances” and putting it this way AND if there is a law preventing people essentially from consuming milk as they want, well then, there is something very fishy behind it. I am of the opinion that raw milk is really good for you and it probably does things to you (benefits) that the elite does not want you to have. Or maybe raw milk is jut normal but pasturized milk is to your detriment and they want you to drink it much like they want you to drink fluoridated water and inhale fuel treated with led so that you would have health problems, as opposed to being healthy, and then have to pay for drugs that screw you up even more but are labeled as cures.

In mainland europe you can still hit up any nearby village and buy as much as you want (for now). If you are scared of drinking it raw, all you have to do is boil it and drink it. That is what we do here in Switzerland!!

NO ONE HAS EVER DIED FROM RAW MILK. Raw milk is always blamed for large outbreaks but the contamination can always be traced back to milk that came from grain fed animals whose milk was always intended for pasteurization. We have been consuming raw milk for THOUSANDS of years, although until we invented “ice boxes” most milk was consumed as clabbered milk or kefir, yogurt and cheese. These fermented foods are extremely beneficial for our digestive tracts and is exactly why companies like Dannon have patented their bacterial strains for their top selling Activia. We desperately need to repopulate our guts with good beneficial bacteria, such as can be found in raw milk. But, it is very important that the raw milk MUST COME FROM COWS EATING A DIET OF GREEN GRASS AS OUR CREATOR INTENDED. Cows are not meant to eat grain and as soon as it is introduced into their diet it completely messes up their digestive system, which then reduces their immune system function, leaving them vulnerable to all kinds of diseases. I am so proud of Michael Schmidt; he is truly fighting for our basic rights.
I have to comment on SOY since someone brought it up….humans did not start eating soy until about 700 years ago when the Monks invented natto (which they discovered helped to lower their libido – a good thing if your a Monk I suppose). Traditionally prepared soy foods such as natto, tofu, tempe and soy sauce are all slowly fermented and carefully prepared which helps to remove the many anti-nutrients they contain. Even so, soy was not a staple part of Japanese or Chinese cultures; they ate just a few teaspoons a day. Soy milk and edamame are new fangled foods that are extremely high in estrogens and 80% of all soy is genetically modified. 80% of all processed foods contain soy yet it has never been given GRAS status (generally recognized as safe). It is a highly profitable crop. Feeding a baby soy infant formula is equivalent to giving them 5 birth control pills a day! It is the globalist who have decided that we should be eating soy; not only does it help to keep the population down by decreasing our fertility, many have had to have their thyroids removed because soy completely disrupts our endocrine system. Then the pharmaceutical companies can keep us on Synthroid and the like for the rest of our lives. It’s a total racket!

Actually , unless you drink it straight from a rinced tit , it’s safer and much more digestible
to boil raw milk ( the one and only ) , and drink it very hot ( it’s more digestible hot and it
develops fine brain tissues that way !!! ) You can also make fresh curd by adding lemon juice
or citric acid to boiling milk , and that curd ’s worth more than gold ( one can make thousands
of fantastic sweet or salty recipes with curd !!! )
By the way , I know a little old lady that sells roses now and then ( that she grows herself ) , and I’m thinking turning her in to the NWO , as an Al Qaida mole , got any good links for me ?!?

Their are ways around this for the farmers, instead of selling milk, you sell a time share on the cow. This way you are being paid for milking the cow that is owned by the consumer. We have farmers in Colorado that do this.

Sooo… for all of you who are itching for the revolution to start, just remember, be ready to give up your job, possesions, car, house, family, and everything else you have acquired while living in “the system” our govt. has built for us. You are trading in whatever comfort level you have in your life now for one of stress, hiding, fighting, sacrifice, and low life expectancy. The majority of Americans don’t want to give up their fat, lazy, complacent lifestyles, and stand up for what they believe in. (And afterall morals are “intangible” which is pretty much worthless to a capitalist society)
You can’t fight an army alone, hell, even King Leonidus had 300 soldiers backing him up. How many of your neighbors would pick up a weapon and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you if you decide to fight? Would you protect YOUR own neighbor from being dragged out of their house at 2 o’clock in the morning by the DEA, FBI, Police, or “insert-your-federal-agency-here” with deadly force? Would they do the same for you? If the answer is no, or you haven’t thought of these things YOU ARE NOT READY FOR THE REVOLUTION. Stop wasting time “waiting” for it to jump off… The first few revolts will get smashed big time anyway, they have been preparing our whole military/law enforcement culture for it.
We who come to this site have the extreme fortune of not being enchanted by the lies and propaganda, and have a small amount of time to collect the tools and food we need. If you can, get a passport and be ready to leave the country at a moments notice. You can decide whether you want to stay, and fight and die for all of the “sheople” who are so brainwashed that they would turn us in for being terrorists (whether out of fear or for money), when we are the ones trying to save them… (they think we are all nuts anyway!) or you can work on getting you and your loved ones the hell out of here, and live to see another few years.

yea dude you are right! people nowdays are so blind that even if we try to help them or make them see the world they are living, even tho is so clear for us it is just so insane for them, they will laugh and not litsen, the NWO has done a pretty good job controlling the media and giving the sheep what they need so they think and act like THEY want to, but still we have to fight and never surrender cause in the end the victory will be ours, many of us shall perish and give up but never forget that He that is with us is stronger than all THEIR armies all together, so brothers and sisters keep the fight up! Raw milk stands in the way of big pharma(scorcery in the greek=pharmacia!) If we drink real milk than they loose the almighty(wich most americans worship)dollar. Even my so called christian friends give me a hard time about drinking real milk. How sad, people who claim to know the truth yet so blinded. Sin is destroying our nation. I would never drink the milk out of the stores. I drive 40 miles a week to get fresh raw milk for me and my family.
Its amazing how good this stuff is for you and yet they wont let you buy it.

The problem is much greater than food. We have allowed FREEDOM to take a holiday of unlimited duration. We have accepted Liberty instead, and called it FREEDOM. It is certainly not.
Liberty is something someone or some government grants to you. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that if someone grants you liberty, they can also take it away.
Freedom is, on the other hand an inherent gift to humanity. To give up FREEDOM for liberty is the path to slavery, which we daily walk to a destination we can not even yet imagine.

Food is going to be a huge issue in the not too distant future. Support your local farmers markets / organic grocery / natural product stores and research the ingredients in your food that you think are safe but aren’t sure. A good reference for this is a book called “Healing with whole foods”.
The natural food industry is being bombarded with ludicrous restrictions by government trying to shut them down.
You’ll see me dead before you see me shopping at Walmart with a chip in my arm.

When I was growing up my family lived on a farm, our milk came right out of the milk tank, and all our eggs, meat(Beef, Pork, Chicken), vegetables butter was from the farm. When the family farm was lost when I was 19 I moved to town, I miss the food from the farm, it tasted better and as I am finding out now about store bought produce the food back on the farm wasn’t posioned. While living on the farm family members rarely ever got sick. There is nothing wrong with Natural fresh food, it is healthy for you. So I say to the Government all over the world, LET THE FARMER”S ALONE!

Actually, the Bible refers to Goat’s milk several times – not necessarily cow’s milk. Goats milk is better digested by the human body. No lactose intolerance and fresh goat’s milk is much better than cow’s milk.

When you cook food at high tempetures it kills bacteria and viruses. It is proven that pastuerization does work. I am not sure if it ruins the nutrional value of milk though.

I belong to a cow share in MI and get raw milk every week, mainly for my 4 children. We just started this last spring and this is the first winter that my kids have not had any sore throats, earaches, or colds of any sort.

I know the farmer Michael Schmidt.
He is not selling raw milk.
He is maintaining and looking after cows that belong to the people that are getting the milk from him.
It is a co-op and the people that are participating are in their legal right to drink milk from their own cow.
When the police came to arrest him they were fully armed and prepared for a fire fight.
They took all his equipment and shut him down.
He is a good man and we all respect him here in Ontario.

Again we watch as the government/courts take away another method the Citizens have of taking care of themselves. Next is Herbs and we will all be criminals for making herb tea, also any effort to treat each other for medical reasons like replacing a bandage or taking the temperature now requires purchasing a battery powered electronic device because the mercury glass thermometer which can be made here at the local level are gone. We must have a Chinese one or none at all. Try to find a slide rule, again now you need a battery operated device not made locally. The sextant and the tables also are now out of the marketplace for the governments GPS. We are becoming farm animals, the government is farming us for there great agribusinesses masters. Support your local grower.
