CBS Editorial Urges Internet Providers Remove “Hate Speech”

Christopher Wolf, chair of the Anti-Defamation League’s Internet Task Force and Immediate Past Chair of the International Network Against Cyber-Hate, writes that Web 2.0 technology has transformed “the way the Internet is being used. Any hater and propagandist can reach a mass audience, even an audience that didn’t think itself receptive to such hateful ideas. With the users of Web 2.0 comprised largely of younger people, the impact of the information posted there may persist for generations to come.”
Web 2.0 is characterized as facilitating communication, information sharing, interoperability, and collaboration on the web. Examples include social-networking sites, video-sharing sites, wikis, and blogs.
“Blogging and social media sites are changing the way people communicate their reactions to events in the news and interact with each other. Those who harbor anti-Semitic beliefs are comfortable expressing themselves in cyberspace, where they can provoke a reaction from others or find like-minded individuals to affirm their beliefs,” writes Wolf.
Infowars and other truth and patriot movement web sites, according to the ADL, facilitate hatemongers such as Richard Poplawski, the accused Pittsburgh cop killer. “One of Poplawski’s favorite places for such conspiracy theories was the Web site of the right-wing conspiracy radio talk show host Alex Jones. Poplawski visited the site, Infowars, frequently, shared links to it with others, and sometimes even posted to it,” the ADL wrote April 8, 2009. Infowars utilizes Web 2.0 technology in the form of interactive commenting on news articles.
On April 13, Infowars reported on the Department of Homeland Security’s “Rightwing Extremism” document. The DHS conflated white supremacists with activists opposed to gun control, abortion, and illegal immigration. An earlier report issued by the Missouri Information Analysis Center specifically denoted Ron Paul, Chuck Baldwin, and Bob Barr supporters as potentially dangerous terrorists. The MIAC report also concentrated on white supremacists and militia groups.

On April 22, DHS Secretary Napolitano appeared before the Anti-Defamation League National Leadership Conference in Washington. In a speech, she said that “the ADL and DHS have had some good partnerships. In recent years, the Department has placed our employees in your advanced training school to educate us on the tactics used by extremists and terrorists.”
“We felt the DHS report was pretty right on,” said Deborah Lauter of the Anti-Defamation League after Von Brunn’s attack. “Clearly the election of Obama, the current financial crisis, and the discussion of immigration reform — those things have certainly fueled the right wing extremist movement in this country… There are clear indications that the rhetoric is manifesting.”
Obama’s Justice Department is now urging Congress to pass “a tougher U.S. hate crimes law” in response to James von Brunn’s attack on the Holocaust museum in Washington.
“Over the last several weeks, we have witnessed brazen acts of violence, committed in places that many would have considered unthinkable,” AG Eric Holder told the Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, an organization funded in part by the Ford Foundation. Holder cited attacks over a two-week period that killed a military recruiter, a late-term abortionist and a guard at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.
“The First Amendment protects essentially all hate speech, except that consisting of direct threats against specific people. But that does not mean we should throw up our hands and simply accept hate on the Internet as something that will always infect the Internet,” Wolf continues. In response to “hate” as defined by the ADL and the Department of Homeland Security, internet users, internet companies, and educators “should speak up” and “counter the vicious lies,” including 9/11 truth “conspiracy theories,” which “have become a core part of the belief system of anti-Semites and millions of others around the world,” according to ADL National Director Abraham H. Foxman. (Note how Foxman links antisemitism and 9/11 truth.)
“Our country is now vulnerable,” declared the disinfo operative Glenn Beck after Von Brunn’s rampage. “Those people who would like to destroy us — our enemies like Al Qaeda. They’d like to destroy us, and they will work with anyone. There are also people like white supremacists or 9/11 truthers that would also like to destroy the country. They’ll work with anybody they can.”
Beck’s talking points are taken right from the DHS report and the ADL with a new twist — portraying the non-violent 9/11 truth movement as fellow travelers of racists and al-Qaeda (both, incidentally, with long track records of collaborating with the government).
“Those offering Internet services with terms of use that prohibit hate speech should enforce those terms and remove offending content,” Christopher Wolf concludes. “And it is time for Internet education as a requirement in all schools, to teach kids how to filter what they are seeing and to reject hate online. (The epidemic of cyberbullying alone should inspire such attention to kids using the Internet.)”
Merely “educating” kids (with ADL, SPLC and DHS propaganda) and snitching on websites will of course not be sufficient.
Others have suggested more draconian measures. For instance another CBS scribe, Bonnie Erbe, has demanded the state start “rounding up promoters of hate before they kill.”

Hate speech? Thats what my son endures at school being non-christian and non jewish (we are a tolerate family that believes in NO one religion). Yesterday he was dragged into his guidance counselor’s office (public school, va beach) for an hour long interagation on him not being christian, the validity of the Israel state and some crap about God owning all the world’s money. Laws protect jewish kids & christians from this terror……….not the rest of us.
Try bringing a kid up that’s NOT christian or jewish in this country. Thats what I deal with everyday. My son was told he was ignorant and he’s been harrassed and openly humiliated by this man all year long. Anti-semites my butt. If my son says Jew in relation to negative current events…….he’s given a DETENTION and I get phone calls from his teachers. They won’t show his videos he’s created for civics on palestine to the open class (one took him 22 hours).
Both religions own everything. I wish I had taught him to fake it just to get past this garbage

They are pretty good kids – one a brilliant Junior at a CA university, one a photographer and another studying for the ministry. MY BATTLES when they were young centered around secular teaching.

The problem is that Chirstianity was highjacked very quickly after it began.. the powers that be saw the potential of it thousands of years ago and used it to their own benefit. The catholic church and most churches in general have strayed from the original church.
The original church was a open group of people living together and holding things in common.. it was not rigid or filled with stupid rituals present in the catholic church.
The problem we have is there is a group of people that go around proclaiming that they are the chosen people of God. Their texts explicity say they can do whatever they want to the gentiles. The common zionist is taught from early on to have an unwarranted sense of superiority… The average jew is like anyone else.. The core reason for the anti semitisim present in Europe for centuries was because of the arrogance of a small group of people and the distrust of them.
It is useless to try and present the suffering of the Palestinians to the average person because they have been conditioned to believe that Palestinians are worthless and terrorists.

Can anyone answer me this, any Christians? Now I know, as Christians, that we are not to place our trust in, or defend this world, our lives, nor our rights, because these are things of this world. However, in the Bible, we are told to respect, & follow the Men that God has put in place over us, or our Common Laws, but what is a Christian to do, when our Laws are from the Constitution, which further points to God & the Holy Spirit as our Governor? We obviously have a different political system set up here in the U.S. than had ever existed in Biblical times, or ever for that matter. Our Rights, & Laws, according to the original interpretation or intent of the Constitution, grants the people power over their leaders, instead of the other way around. So my question is, as Christians, should we leave the wicked to their devices, & flee as they take the Country over, or do as we were instructed in the Constitution, to protect our Liberties from all enemies, both foreign & domestic? Fighting for this Nation, is fighting for a Worldly thing, & the Lord has already stated that the Devil has rule over all Nations. I Love the Lord, I like my Country, so I’m obviously going to do as the Lord commands first, but the Bible says that I’m to give unto Caesar, what is Caesars, & here in the U.S. Caesar is the Constitution, not Obama or any of his wicked little minions. Do I run or do I stay & fight? The things of this world will pass way soon enough, so wouldn’t fighting for my “Rights” be fighting for the things of this world & not the Lord?

Read Romans 13:3-4. Broke down it says the prupose of human government is to uphold the good and punish the evil. Right and wrong is determined by the state. The Christian citizen is to fear and obey the government, as long as the government does not demand citizens to violate God’s Word.l Governmental officials hold offie by virtue of God’s appointment and are primarily the servants of God in their offices. the political leader is to actively uphold the good.
Don’t get defending your life mixed up with “thou shalt not kill”. Killing in this commandment means murder. Believe me, if someone is threatening my life or a loved one I will shoot them.
What I do is follow the laws of the land, but with this NWO mess I’m going to have to put my foot down, like not take the mark or this stupid vaccines. The mark isn’t suppose to come until after the snatching away of believers anyway.

Man I feel you on this I have debated this myself many times without much resolution, however if what we fight for is in self-defense or the defense of Truth and the Lord’s principles, then I believe the fight is okay. You have the sword of the Word, so literally speak out against tyranny just as Jesus spoke against the pharisees and worldly behavior. “Give unto Caesar, what is Caesar’s” is contextually speaking of taxing of monies (US Dollar, Euro, ect.). Abiding by the Law of God or The Law of Man is what that saying comes down to, the pharisees (corrupt rabbis) asked Jesus whether Jew’s should pay roman taxes. The dual meaning of this spiritually is saying that spiritual authority should maintain its independence from temporal or world authority, because God is an Omnipresence which isn’t confined by boundaries of time, thus forever, while Secular World rules by force during there time in power rather than moral law.

Snatching away is what we call “the rapture”. The word rapture is nowhere in the bible. The term snatching away is when believers in Christ will literally be snatched up to be with the Lord. First, the dead in Christ will go then those of us who are still alive here on earth will go. We will not experience a physical death. It’s somewhere in either 1st or 2nd Thessalonians. I’m looking for it right now.
Here it is: 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God and the dead in Christ shall rise first.
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Jesus himself said “in my Father’s house are many mansions. I go now to prepare a place for you and will return for you”. If this was not true I would not tell you this.”

we meet the lord in the air when?? where do we go from there?? There is absolutely no scriptural proof that we will escape the tribulation, nor is there proof we go to heaven after meeting the Lord in the air. In fact, the tribulation will be a time of endurance…Christ says that those who endure until the end will be saved. What does this mean?? This is the time of testing folks!! We will be here throughout the tribulation and you will be tested like never before. You will either rely on Him during this period, or you will give in to the Anti-christ system that will and is taking place now. The Beast I believe is a system. Not just an individual. They will control all things including you. However, you can fight with scripture and with the grace of God to provide you your needs as you endure the tests. He will never leave you nor forsake you.

We are a nation of laws first. But ‘We the People’ slacked into our own little worlds and allowed the government to takeover the needs of our neighbor. It has now manifested into our own backyards because we continuosly gave govt more power. It’s not about us having power over the government its about individual responsibility. Thats the foundation of a true Republic. Human nature thrives and prospers in this environment but eventually becomes laxed in his responsiblities. God first, then the family, then your neighbor. I agree, but I also think that there are still too many sleeping sheep who are addicted to their TV. And now that HDTV has become the norm, it will be even harder to fight the parasitic influence. People are listening to the propaganda and ignoring the truth.
The NWO is gaining more control by the day. They are pushing new “laws” through congress so fast it’s almost supersonic and dismantling the constitution at the same time. And people don’t even know it’s going on. Oh, well, that’s what we pay them for, to make the laws (as long as there is no negative impact on my personal life). Yes, it is kind of interesting knowing what is going on and yet seeing them paint us with a “bad slave” brush. Unfortunately, I remember that ploy from the time after the Oklahoma City Bombing. They started this crap on the Militias that had organized back then. Killed a few of them off, most just shut up and went underground. What we have to worry about is that it’s an easy and effective tactic, point at the victim and scream “Terrorist!”, then make some bogus laws and end the problem. I am a Ron Paul Supporter. I believe in a person’s freedom and an individuals protection of their rights including not being forced to have religious values and laws applied to them. I am personally pro-choice but believe that abortion is a tenth amendment issue and should be left to the states to decide. I am agnostic but generally dislike the christian value system and belief structure that I am forced to live my life by. However,I do not necessarily “hate” Christians as my whole family is, a lot of my friends, and a many Christians are good people. I feel the same way for any other religion. I believe everyone should be as free as possible including homosexuals. I do not support the federal reserve nor the terror state of Israel. I have nothing against “jews” but I do have a problem with Israel. For decades the concept of freedom of press has really not existed because of the inability of the individual to compete with a large news organizations newspapers and particularly Radio and TV broadcasts on which the government controls the frequencies. As I see it the modern interpretation of freedom of the press must mean freedom of the Internet, the Internet is now what the press was centuries ago, a voice of equality, the Internet allows anyone to present his Ideas in a median of equal credibility on equal terms. In spirit and concept freedom of press means freedom of the Internet. Hate speech is stupid and I don’t agree with it but just because you don’t like what someone says that’s not an excuse to abridge my 1st amendment rights as a free person and lock down the internet.

I believe there needs to be a way to counter these smear campaigns. How about organizing to protest behind live news programs, call into national shows (like Glenn Beck-but not saying what it’s really about until you’re on the air)… things like that. We can’t allow them to tip the scales back the other way.

God is not slack or incapable of healing anyone of any diseases or amputations…..However because of sin in this world God has allowed it to take its course they we will see the result of sin and what Satan wants to do with mankind…..There are many healings that God has performed now and He did then in the Bible days…….BUT we must understand that God’s way is not ours …..In the new world that God as prepared for us there will be many who cannot see …that will see….many who cant hear will hear…many who are deformed will be in perfect form….but in this world we must go thru until that time in Heaven….God is all powerful and He has allowed satan to do his work until all of this is over…Only the faithful will be ready to receive Him…..Now my parents didn’t teach me the truth…..I went seeking for myself….because i wanted to go to heaven and know without a doubt there is a God…The one that created all of us.. Aussie you are loved even tho you may not understand it now…..God knows you and know what your heart desired and long for…..I am not the least upset with you I am greatful that you shared your feelings….Thank you Joy
