Ceding the Internet to “Global Governance”

Last month, President Obama proudly announced at the United Nations the steps taken under his administration to “embrace a new era of engagement” in international affairs by correcting the actions of past administration that might lead people to “question the character and cause” of America including supporting the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, addressing global warming through the U.N., joining the Human Rights Council, signing the Disabilities Convention, supporting the Millennium Development Goals, and paying America’s arrears to the United Nations without asking the organization to implement reforms to prevent those payments from being misused.
Well, we can add another dubious decision to the list of sacrifices the Obama Administration has made to alter of international engagement. Today it was announced that the Obama Administration had agreed to cede much U.S. control over the non-profit Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) that regulates and manages the Domain Name System under which Internet Protocol addresses and registration of top-level domains like .org and .com are assigned. According to a story in the Guardian:
The deal, part of a contract negotiated with the US department of commerce, effectively pushes California-based Icann towards a new status as an international body with greater representation from companies and governments around the globe.

Icann had previously been operating under the auspices of the American government, which had control of the net thanks to its initial role in developing the underlying technologies used for connecting computers together.
But the fresh focus will give other countries a more prominent role in determining what takes place online, and even the way in which it happens – opening the door for a virtual United Nations, where many officials gather to discuss potential changes to the internet.
Under the previous arrangement, the U.S. government retained veto power over ICANN’s decisions. Although the U.S. government was very hands-off with managing ICANN, the relationship helped insulate the Internet from political influence of states threatened or frustrated by the freedom of that medium. As discussed in a 2005 Heritage WebMemo, the United Nations has sought for some time to acquire authority over ICANN at the behest of a number of countries who wish to tax or regulate it. As noted in the paper:
For decades, the Internet has developed with a minimum of government interference. The core governance of the medium has been performed by non-governmental entities and overseen by the U.S. government, which has exercised a light regulatory touch. It is no coincidence that the medium has prospered from this benign neglect, growing from a research curiosity into a major force in the world economy and an invaluable venue for the exchange of information….
The result of a UN-controlled and regulated Internet would be that non-democratic countries that oppose the right to free speech such as China and grasping, anti-market impulses like those of the European Union would have a greater voice in guiding the Internet in a direction away from “freedom, education, and innovation.” If the Internet cannot be a government-free zone, it should be governed in a manner that minimizes restrictions rather than imposing international standards that restrict Internet freedom. Given the stakes, the U.S. must stand firm and reject efforts to internationalize governance of the Internet.
Quite simply, the decision of the Obama administration increases the vulnerability of the Internet to political pressure, censorship, and strangling regulation and taxation. Welcome to “responsibility and leadership in the 21st century” under the Obama Administration.

Thank you for answering my concern as to whether or not the new internet regulation will affect my career. I am a woman, all woman, therefore I cannot become your number two choice, of being a goon. Your number one about being a spy for the government is closer to what I could do since being a lady, I might be able to get closer than most to get the information, but I am a lover, not a coniver…except maybe to be a sleuth where being a woman is desired most (hehe). That means I might have to be changing my life style.

Me then? With those choices, I have to agree with what Alex Jones says. I would be put in as an inmate. To be in control of me would be a prison guard’s (and maybe inmates’) dream. I have heard many stories what happens to girls who look like me. I do not know if my body could handle it, let alone my mind.

Microsoft had that ‘out of cycle’ update about potential RPC attacks (remote procedure protocol) a couple of days ago -> hackers can use this to gain access to your system (like most windows OSes) is what microsucky says. It’s probably an update for M$ to track, manipulate, or control your machine remotely anyway so yeah you’re webcam is vulnerable… check out the ‘fusion’ technology they’ve had for a while when you get a chance…..

Anonymous, I heard about that. You are right and censorship bothers me.
I can remember when Clinton tried this, and the PM of Germany said “The US doesn’t control the world” and something along the lines of: “if the US controls global internet traffic it will infringe upon Germans.” Well I guess now Germany and EU are on board with the censorship.

I have an urgent message for you, more important than any message you can hear. God is Holy and cannot accept sin(honor thy mother and father…, thou shall not kill, thou shall not commit adultery, thou shall not steal, thou shall not bear false witness against thy neighbor, thou shall not covet..etc…Exodus 20:12-17). Here are some verses that show examples of sin:
“Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.” Matthew 5:21-22

You could be perfect in all the law and stumble at one point and it is as if you broke all of them:

God wrote the law on each man’s heart so they are without excuse on judgment day when we will ALL stand before Christ(”Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another” Romans 2:15). The penalty of sin is death and eternal punishment in the LAKE OF FIRE. I am warning you about hell because I love you! You are dead in your sins and headed for hell which is described in the Word as a FIRE THAT QUENCHES NOT(”…the fire is not quenched” Mark 9:44). It is a horrible and terrible place of everlasting torment that people will go because of their sins.
“And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.” Luke 16:22-24
“In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;” 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9
But God has provided a way for each to escape the lake of fire. He sent his Son Jesus(God manifest in the flesh-1 Timothy 3:16) who was conceived by a virgin by the Holy Spirit of God,lived a sinless life, and suffered a horrible death/shed blood and rose again 3 days later to take the penalty of YOUR sins so you dont have to pay for them in hell for eternity! He loved you so much which is why he did it! He is the only one to have fufilled the law perfectly(sinless) and paid the price of the entire world’s sins so that man could be saved on the merits of His perfection(see Romans 5:19). All you must do to be saved is BELIEVE in Him(trust in Him to save you as a sinner). You must admit your lost sinful condition to Him/that you’re worthy of hell, and ask Him to save you by placing complete trust in Jesus ALONE for salvation(an example in the Word of someone doing this- “And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.” Luke 18:13).It is not even partly by yourselves that you can be saved, but only by the merits of Jesus Christ!
“For God so loved the world, He sent his only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life” John 3:16.
“And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world” 1 John 2:2

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9-10
No works or anything you do can save you! May God open your eyes, that one day I may see you in heaven. Read the Word of God(the 1611 King James version- NOT the modern versions, they are corrupt) before rejecting it! Death is fleeting. You may NOT have tomorrow! For death comes when we least expect it! Make sure you are saved TODAY! The Bible condemns the rich, the wealthy, and those who take advantage of the poor, so it CANNOT have been made up by the elite. Because the Word clearly CONDEMNS people such as those! It declares all mankind as sinners(myself included).
I am a Christian, and love you enough to warn you of the dangers of hell. Beware, the Roman catholic church is NOT Christian! The church CANNOT save you but only Christ! Just because someone says they are a Christian does not necessarily mean they are one(remember the crusades in history? Many were murdered in the name of Christianity. I think they will get complete control of the net sooner than later. One way to insure the ability of people to communicate is to have a backup system of radio receivers and transmitters of information and make sure that the entire country is blanketed. This way anyone can turn on their battery powered transistor radios and obtain the most recent news and developments. Think about it, It worked really well for us during WWII and other wars like Vietnam. Radio may be the only means left to spread the word about things because no one can control it.

Would a person be considered “paranoid” to be alarmed by all of the shit going on? Why don’t more people seem to know or even care about what’s going on? It’s gotten to the point of where i’m almost afraid to post my TRUE feelings about any of this on the net in fear of being thrown on a list. That’s NOT freedom, that’s enslavement.
You just don’t see shit like this on the local or cable news. It seems that people are so caught up with there lattes and cell phones that they just don’t give a flying fuck about the world around them. Now I truely understand the term “sheeple”.

Cut the net and it hinders mobilization. if you are kept in darkness about what is happening somewhere else it will be too late to react when there is a knock at your door. DO NOT ALLOW YOUR GOVERNMENT TO TAKE OVER THE NET. LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO VENEZUELA AND OTHER COUNTRIES WHERE THE GOVERNMENT HAD CONTROL. If Rockefeller had his way we would still be using paper and pencil. ( wait a minute didnt his relative get 24 hour notice that Napoleon had lost the war but they lied saying he had won which allowed them to purchase damn near all of Europe. or was that the Rothschilds???)
