Chinese Troops Kill 140 in Xinjiang

At least 140 people have been killed in rioting in China’s northwestern Xinjiang region, with the government blaming exiled separatists for the traditionally Muslim area’s worst case of unrest in years.
Hundreds of people have been arrested, the official Xinhua news agency said, after protestors from the Uighur minority took to the streets of the regional capital on Sunday, burning and smashing vehicles and shops, and clashing with anti-riot police.
“In terms of China’s domestic economy, it is in a remote place and it does not have a big impact on things generally unless there is some evidence, of which there is none, that the government is in some meaningful way losing control,” said Arthur Kroeber, Managing Director of Dragonomics, a research and advisory firm in Beijing.

the title to this article is misleading, chinese troops weren’t the ones (apparently) that killed 140 people. whether is was the wuigers ( pronounced weeger ) or the han chinese is unknown).
Another thing, Xinjiang (pronounced Shin, Jiang)
I lived in china (guangzhou) for about a year. And the chinese muslims(weegers) have little weeger towns in all major cities(apparently) – they smoke a mixture( not all) of hash & herbs) –
and cook big noodles & kabob meat(lamb ).
Majority of Chinese are racist. and so the weegers are treated as 2nd class citizens.
Amy Goodman’s show did a great presentation on what’s goin down with this story yesterday.
Apparently, some weegers factory workers were attacked/killed by Han Chinese in Guangdong,
because of stories of weegers raping women, so the protests in xinjiang were started because of the lack of investigation into the issue.
