Church Document Encourages Congregation To Obey Government

A shocking document has come to light from a church in Ohio which educates its congregation that Barack Obama’s presidency is appointed by God and that Obama himself is “God’s minister,” in another perversion of Romans 13, the bible verse cited as an excuse for Christians not to oppose tyranny.
Ohio District Superintendent Rev. John Wooton was responsible for distributing the pamphlet, which was handed out at the Assembly of God church in Ohio, according to a reader who forwarded the document to us. Click here for the PDF file.
“This was handed out at the Assembly of God church that my fiance and I used to attend. We immediately stopped attending after getting this flier about ’submitting to Obama and the government,’ states the reader.
“The pastor even brought children to the front of the church, encouraging them to submit to teachers, firemen, and the police. It was insane.”
“I confronted the pastor about his stance on Romans 13, a year prior, and he assured me that he would never sell out his church. This sermon was given on the immediate Sunday after Obama’s election win. Please post this and inform others about it. I never, ever thought this would happen in the church I was attending, but thankfully, we were informed enough to leave this church,” he concludes.
The document cites Romans 13 verses 1-4 and claims that the following “paraphrases” can be interpreted from the bible.
- Barack Obama’s presidency is appointed by God. (v 1)
- Christians should lead the way in supporting Barack Obama’s presidency. (v 2)
- Barack Obama’s presidency can be a force for good and a deterrent against evil. (v 3)
- As president, Barack Obama is God’s minister to you for good. (v 4)
The document concedes that a majority of practicing Christians probably didn’t even vote for Obama because of his pro-abortion policies, indeed one of Obama’s first acts as President was to issue an executive order which ensured that millions more black babies are aborted in third world countries, with American taxpayers picking up the tab.

Despite this, the document urges Christians to “support loudly” Obama’s policies and “remember who is in control”.
Romans 13 has routinely been cited by tyrants throughout history in an attempt to prevent Christians from opposing their rule, indeed, it was Hitler’s favorite bible verse. Religious groups such as the Catholics in 1930’s Germany also used the verse as an excuse not to rise up against the Nazis when they were still a minority political party.
A large number of mainstream church representatives claim that Romans 13 means Christians should obey the ruling authorities no matter how tyrannical they are, and yet the bible itself is full of examples of men standing up to corrupt authorities and attempting to change the system – Jesus, John the Baptist and Moses being the prime examples.
Should Jesus have refrained from throwing the money changers out of the temple? Should Moses have cowered from standing up to the Egyptian slave masters? Should John the Baptist have kept quiet about the sinful practices of Herod Antipas, his condemnation of which led to his beheading?
The fact that large churches in America are encouraging their congregation to all but obey the government and support their agenda even if it opposes basic Christian principles is a shocking indictment of how much control the state now exercises over the church through the carrot of the 501(c)(3) Status dangled in front of corruptible pastors and preachers.
Ominously. as we first exposed in 2006, FEMA is training pastors and other religious representatives to become secret police enforcers who teach their congregations to “obey the government” in preparation for a declaration of martial law, property and firearm seizures, and forced relocation. The bible verse that FEMA encourages religious representatives to cite while undertaking this role? Romans 13.
The individual who forwarded the document noted that around the time the sermon was given, the church seemed to have an influx of funds.
“This church has a new stage with flat screen monitors, updated church vans, and is talking about expanding the church by building a new church, which all occurred around the giving of this sermon. Mind you, we were having a hard time buying new chairs for our church, no more than a year ago. Coincidence?” he writes.

Nice touch for a minister’s secretary, don’t you think? Perhaps she will be more interested if we pass this information around to our email lists and they call to voice their opinion.

Thanks for compiling all of this info. I knew when this happened that I wasn’t crazy for being outraged. I just apologize in the time lapse to getting this info (aka PDF file) to everyone. The upside is that the info is out there now.
Unfortunately, this is the kind of crap that happens which gives Christianity a bad name. My fiance and I did find a home at another Christian church (which has no affiliation to any mainstream Christian sects), who ironically was preaching to its members not to submit to evil. Talk about getting two sides of the coin within the same week.

Me too Jamie. me and my sister were outside riding our bikes when we began to notice there was a lot of low-flying, wide belly aircraft in the skies yesturday. now that you mention it the planes had a blue tail that cut off diagonally into white on the front. i have no clue what they are and have no pictures but i figured i’d back you up on this in case anyone else knows about it as well. :/

II Tim. 3:16 was written in the mid 60s of the first century, just prior to Paul’s martyrdom. At that time there was no “Bible”, as such. This is true! But that fact doesn’t negate the existence of the writers of inspired scripture, or the possibility of later compilation of all of these scriptures into one central work. History has borne this out; we HAVE a compilation to these books, NOW.. your point is moot!
As to your claim that God didn’t “walk with men..”, does the Bible claim that He walked with Moses (for example)?
Numbers 12:8 ” I speak with him [Moses] face to face, Even plainly, and not in dark sayings; And he sees the form of the LORD. Why then were you not afraid To speak against My servant Moses?”

“Flesh and blood,” is a Hebrew periphrase for man. It is an expression which signifies the present natural state of man, unaided by God’s grace. Man in his present state of sin, sickness, decay is referred to as flesh and blood, it is this man who cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
When Paul was converted, he did not consult with flesh and blood, meaning any natural man, but was confronted by the resurrected and glorified Jesus Christ. Gal.1:16 and Acts 9:5.

Jesus Christ said, “Unless you are born again you will not see the Kingdom of Heaven.” So this “born again Christianity stuff” is eternally important!!!
Being a born again Christian is being an authentic, genuine Christian. Denominational Christianity is a religion – no matter what denomination is it. But being born again is the only way you can be saved. PERIOD.
So Christians who still go to church should go to GOOD, SOUND DOCTRINE non-denominational churches. If not, stay home, read the Word of God, get closer to Him and live by the Bible. NOT by what preachers, who are just men, say!!!

and what if the government tells you they are going to take your children and do horrible things to them? are you supposed to let that happen then? I am a christian, but I protect my children as well. The Romans 13 verse says to obey the government, but it does not say to obey them if they are corrupt. God says to hate everything that is evil… and the government is evil… so we should be aginst the government. Plus when it comes to “the law” you are referring to the old testament. we live in God’s new covenant, not the old one. If someone writes a will, and then writes a new one, then what does the lawyers go by? The new one, of course. We are to go by God’s new will, or testament. Maybe it would have been a good idea to try and find out where this guy came from before having fallen on your hands and knees worshipping him. But I guess it’s too late now. It’s amazing that any church would whore itself like this. I do hope all the genuine Christians out there rise up and take care of this little matter. Jesus wasn’t a sheep following a shephard. He didn’t flow with the “status quo.”He was an incredible individual who used his own mind with which to think for himself, and he fought for fairness and compassion. At least, that’s what the Bible says. I believe that any Christian would honor their saviour by using their own brains, and trusting their own instincts,instead of blindly believing everything these so-called men of the cloth tell them to believe. I think that’s what Jesus would want us to do.

According to scripture, which I believe is the Word of God, (I realize and accept that not every one involved in the Liberty movement agree with this), Rulers and nations are all given their time in the Sun by God for His own purposes. That does not mean that they are good or the we should implement their Wicked policies.
For example Pharaoh ordered the Hebrew infants to be killed. But the midwife who birthed Moses and hid him was praised for her righteousness.
If Obama enacts a good law, like ending torture or protecting an endangered species of animal it is proper to obey it. BUT if he make unjust or Wicked laws such as spying on neighbors or using unjust force on civilians CHRISTIANS HAVE A DUTY TO OBEY THEIR CONSCIENCES!

I hate to say this but in a twisted way, a small part of this is right but I would never say God “appointed” Obama, I WOULD say though that there is not anyone in a leadership position that God has not allowed there.
That being said, it is also biblical that we should oppose anything that is not of God or is wrong or a sin.
In Exodus the Pharoah was there because God allowed it and Pharoahs actions were according to God’s plan even though Pharoah was not a believer.
As a kid I remember vaguely there was a Sunday School lesson that in effect said that someday we would no longer be able to pledge the American Flag because the country will have steered far off course. I have always remembered that and believe we have come to that time.

The Reason the America Christian Right is so up in arms about abortion is due to the fact that the Republicans created the Moral majority in 79 to introduce wedge issues into political debate. Some of these were Abortion, gay Rights & Censorship.
While there has been a long standing policy by the U.S to depopulate the third world. Family Planning Funding in Africa might do alot to help to alleviate the AIDS crisis. Part of this would be distributing condoms to prevent the spread of Aids.
Remember Bush refused to fund organisations which handed out condoms & only funded those which preached abstinence. Net Result of these Policies? More Dead Africans. Mission accomplished I guess from the Bush regimes point of view.
Abortion aswell ought to be available in Africa at the very least to Parents with Aids for obvious reasons that I doubt many pro-lifers including the author of this article have bothered to think about.

Although the Bible does teach that God places leaders in positions of authority, the Scriptures do not teach blind obedience to them.
Across this once great nation, pastors have been raised up to lead others into a strong delusion that God Himself has ordained according to the good pleasure of His will. Some of these deceivers are energised strictly by the forces of darkness, others are appointed by God to fulfill His will.
There are few things more frightening than for a nation to be given over to blind spiritual leadership. Sadly, this is what can be seen everywhere one looks today. The nation will only be as strong (or healthy) as its churches; which have (largely) been infiltrated and neutralized as planned.
Television and sports addiction have taken their toll; and the pagan holidays of Christmas and Easter serve their purpose in getting people to “worship they know not what.”
Too many pastors are sports and TV addicts, and are easily led by the “pop star evangelists” of the day; the Bible says “deceiving and being deceived.” When God gives rebellious and will-worshipping people over to “a strong delusion” there is no remedy. For many reasons, including the shedding of innocent blood (abortion) in the land: America is (some would say) long overdue to reap a whirlwind of God’s displeasure.
The fake money system is certainly not a blessing from God, as several hundred million have been enslaved by phony debt since 1913. Blind spiritual leaders continue to rail against “conspiracy theorists” while they preach their “gospel” of blind submission to those in authority; no matter how corrupt or ungodly they are. Some of it, no doubt, is done out of sincerity; but willful ignorance and gutlessness often plays a roll as well.
Shall we blindly obey Constitution-shredding criminals who devise our enslavement? I say expose them. Expose their wicked plans. Hold them accountable for their treasonous actions. And by all means, flee from the hirelings in pulpits today that are preparing their gullible followers to cooperate with their own enslavement. Flee from those blind guides who instruct others to “elect” globalists to high office (or any office) in the land. Flee from a false religious unity.
Remember the Mike Huckabees, chosen by the CFR to delude the masses and distract from a candidate with a pro-American voting record. AND
Philippians 2:10-11, Paul refers to Isaiah: “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father”
Kinda seems that Paul is saying that every knee will bow and every tongue confess to JESUS, does it not?

On Romans 13, the rulers are the necessarily the Federal Government but “We the People”. The rule of the land is the Constitution! Also, the power in Romans 13 could mean authority or liberties or rights. I believe it’s talking about God given rights!
Rom 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
Rom 13:4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
1. There’s a problem with rulers and power. It’s talking about two different things. Singular vs plural nouns. He is the minister of God to thee for good. It’s He and not They (rulers).
2. Rulers throughout history are not “the minister of God to thee for good.” Think about Hitler who used Romans 13 to take advantage of ignorant Christians. Romans 13:4 is conditional. If you believe the “rulers” are ministers of God, they have to do good. If they do bad, they are not minister of God.

I would like to point out in the most non-confrontational way I can, that you have taken a little bit of scripture out of context and distorted it. The entire verse reads like this:
Matthew 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Note the “if it were possible” part. It gives the verse a very different meaning than what you imply. And that is a very broad, blanket, general statement you make about the churches. I would submit to you that no two congregations are exactly alike. In fact, no one congregation is exactly the same from one week to the next!
I have a challenge for buddy, a dare if you will. Heck, I double-dog dare you right here and now: SHOW UP THIS SUNDAY. I will not force my church on you, and I will not continue to invite you forever. In fact, this is my final invitation to you. Let me take you to lunch afterwards, or just coffee and a bagel, whatever. We can just talk. I’m playing bass again this weekend, so I’ll be real easy to spot.
Churches are made up of fallen, fallible people. And yes, many of us frequently get it wrong. Yes, countless people have been killed in the name of God over the centuries. Yes, idiot pastors exist, spreading false prosperity doctrine and other false teachings (like false teachings on Romans 13, to touch on the topic). None of that is God’s fault. If you’re familiar with the Bible as a whole, you know that we humans have to be CONSTANTLY reminded what is good, what is right, and we still continue to get it wrong. That’s the whole point! We are all hopelessly lost without God, no matter how good our intentions.
So when people tell me that churches are filled with hypocrits, I tell them, well come on in, there’s always room for one more.
The whole of God’s law can be summed up very succinctly: Love the Lord you God with all you heart, all your mind, all your soul and all of your strength. And love you neighbor as you love yourself.
I prayed a little differently this morning. For some reason, without you in mind, I prayed for God to put the person or people that needed to hear the Gospel in front of me. And here we are. Dude, my church is full of sleeping Christians who would fall for that Romans 13 distortion in a minute, just like most other churches. We need more truthers! Please, come help me change my church for the better. You know when and where.

Hey Robert…that “compound” was not Mormon (LDS), it was an offshoot of polygamist called FLDS. They are not part of the mainline LDS Church. The LDS Church does not practice polygamy, we are NOT a cult. We are Christian and we DO study and believe the Bible wholeheartedly.

Well I got a stiff neck from reading that sideways PDF file of the
church flier, but I’m not surprised at all by that a**-sucking document.
We used to attend an Assembly of God church but when they went off
the deep end over the PTL garbage back in the 80’s we left.
I wouldn’t get too upset over this. We have a local “Christian Radio”

Listen, be honest with yourself. If you have not read the Bible in an active way… if you have read a few verses here or there, or a few books… don’t come her and present yourself as knowledgeable about the word.

Please tell me, if Jesus had submitted to the pharisees, not ravaged the temple (for being set up as a marketplace), and said to the Devil, two days into the desert, that he’s presented a good offer and accepted it, would we be having this conversation right now? We wouldn’t even have Christianity had Jesus not followed through on defeating evil.
He even cast out demons, sending them into pigs. Jesus was all about healing, teaching the message of the Father’s love for all who accept Him, and defeating evil. Going up against the Roman government and pharisees was quite an exceptional thing in Jesus’ time. That was extremely revolutionary, without ever firing a shot. His fight and war was (and still is) over principalities.
Meanwhile, go cash your paycheck from Wootan and stop trying to justify the deceptive tactics used in Wootan’s PDF and accepting Wootan’s marching orders.

The whole Bible is written by the physical hand of humans who were inspired to write what they did. Yes, Paul did write the book of Romans. Paul was formally Saul, who physically persecuted Christians for the goverment he served before his conversion into Christianity. Paul died a martyred death by a government he would not cave into, so the logic that Paul was preaching to obey government is illogical. Paul was stating that government was required, as it is spoken about in Genesis, but he stated that God’s worldly government of man was to be set up where we obey the government that obeys God. You see, we have a resposibility to obey a Godly government and that the only ones to fear that government are those who do bad. That government is not to be a terror to good people but bad…paraphrased from Romans 13. When the government is not in obedience to God, then we do not obey it. That is essentially the ideals of our founding fathers who set up a republican government. Read the following from the Declaration of Independance and remember we are American!!

The Bible is kinda fuzzy on the matter of standing up to authorities. Certainly we are to stand up to them if they try to interfere with our right to preach the gospel. But we are also to render unto Caesar etc.

The sad part of all of this was that the congregation was sooooo busy trying to defend its pastor that they totally gave him a pass on what he was preaching. Trust me, I got hammered by church members calling me mean and evil for being outraged.

Jim, another possible interpretation, here, is that you are just wrong. Maybe you ought to take that up with God. And while you are at it, ask Him why He himself submitted to leaders… who were obviously wrong. Ask also why He put Romans 13 in scripture at all, if we were not to obey it.
Again, maybe the issue here isn’t that they were bending over backwards to defend the pastor. Maybe they just had a better understanding of scripture than you presently do.

And so, what would you say to the pastors in Hitler’s time that used Romans 13 to justify his actions? No, I was there and this pastor was out and out saying bow down to authority, but not following up with the remainder of Romans 13, stating to be obedient to God first, at all times! Insanely, he was programming kids by telling them who and how to submit. It was sick!
If you go to the main site of the Assembly of God, you’ll find they are a compromised denomination. Their “big kahuna” is who passed the edit to follow Obama based on Romans 13. Do some history on how Romans 13 was abused to justify the actions of tyranny and you may be the one needing the interpretation AND history lessons.
As a side note, the Holy Spirit struck down the sound system, prior to the pastor giving this compromised interpretation of Romans 13. Again, read what was present in the PDF file and tell me specifically how any of that crap is backed by sound biblical interpretation?

This is something we do need to really discuss. There are many of our brothers and sisters listening to this false doctrine of Romans 13. I fear for them. Also, when the endtime events come, many folks will gravitate to the churches for answers and many will fall right into the trap of the endtime one world anitchrist church….Right into the grip of Satan. What’s most amazing about this was prior to the “propaganda” sermon (Friday evening), I was at dinner with friends, when I immediately went out of control on a rant. That rant was that the pastor better not preach Romans 13 on Sunday and tell us to submit to Obama. I told this group of friends that I will leave the church, if he does.
It’s amazing how the Holy Spirit comes in and gives a forewarning to what’s coming. That very Sunday, this was the flier in our announcements.
I specifically told people at the church, whom we really cared about, that I was not coming back to New Hope. Submitting to evil? No way! My fiance completely backed the decision. We were not the only ones to leave.
Before leaving, I e-mailed that pastor and specifically told him that he was no better than those in Hitler’s time, who also told their flock to submit to Hitler.
Needless to say, my e-mail address was blocked from then on.
I still cannot get over that I experienced anything this crazy and insane first hand. Obviously, God had a reason for it. I’m thinking it was that I was not going to let this ever go without standing up against evil.

May I suggest that instead of writing flaming emails to your pastor and church-hopping, you might instead spend serious time getting acquainted with God’s word and how he instructs us to behave and conduct ourselves? I am confident if you do that, you will emerge from that process with a somewhat different perspective than the one you now possess.

There is no indication that Horus was preaching in a temple when he was 12. In fact, Horus the child was depicted as a “weakling.” That doesn’t jive with story of Jesus preaching in the temple.

Many preachers, such as the ones of churches I have attended, insist that we should “pray for our leaders” and “pray for our country”. If they truly knew the Word, they’d see that sort of thing will do Jack Sprat. The Bible tells our future, and it ain’t pretty. The world will get worse and worse, not better and better. All the praying in the world won’t stop prophecy from coming true. They need to get their heads out of wherever they’ve got them and get them into the book from which they preach.
There are those in the pulpit who spout “patriotic” crap like “God bless America”. Do they seriously think God is going to bless a country which not only allows the killing of the unborn, but enshrines it a right?!

The term is TAX EXEMPT, not tax SUBSIDIZED. If you don’t understand the difference between those two, you can probably find it in a dictionary. And the idea that churches are required to make reports of unusual ‘flock’ members is just garbage – absolutely untrue.
If you want to start a church, go right ahead. But I would encourage you to know what God actually says before you start talking about it.

Please understand that Christ and many of his profits were given divine powers and knowledge through deep meditative prayer with God. If one looks within himself in meditation upon the good words of Christ, one can access the knowledge of goodness that God wants to show you. The government of the United States is the US Constitution. Christians in America should substitute ‘government’ in Romans 13 with ‘US Constitution’, since that is what provides the framework for our government. In that case, the congregation’s flier SHOULD read:
- The US Constitution is appointed by God. (v 1)
- Christians should lead the way in supporting the US Constitution. (v 2)
- The US Constitution can be a force for good and a deterrent against evil. (v 3)
- The US Constitution and Christians who support it are God’s minister to you for good. (v 4)

I agree with most of what Alex Jones has to say, but this article is one of his least researched topics.
The Christian church has held the stance that all government is ordained by God through his providence for a very long time. This was even the understanding 500 years ago in the reformation.
The idea that Romans 13 is being used in a wrong manner is weird to think.
Calvin the great reformer and the real founding father of America said “When governments become tyrants, you must still submit, because God has ordained it.”
He goes on to say that we also must understand that governments that are ordained by God, and put us into to bondage, are in ways punishing the people for their sins.
This is not my statement on government, rather it is an example of how the church has had this doctrine prior to the “NWO”.

I would tend to agree with this stance. The fact that it goes against my instinct seems to indicate that is my flesh speaking. Revenge is God’s. He could send angels to open prison doors once and He can do it again.
I am also reminded of the Centurion who’s ear was struck off by one of Christ’s disciples during His arrest. Jesus told him not to resist and actually reaattached the ear.
I also believe that resisting the Antichrist government (NWO) using guns and weapons will be ultimately futile. For Christians, this battle will be won on our knees, praying. I don’t think the author of this article understands what the Bible says about obeying our leaders. I’ll try to explain this for you all. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Christians are called to obey the laws of the land and their leaders (see 1 Peter 2:13-17 and Romans 13:1-8). I do think this means we obey Obama too.
Now please think about this more. The Christians in the first century were told to obey the Roman authorities, the very same authorities that persecuted them to death. But they still obeyed the gov’t. Unless I’m wrong, I don’t think they led any rebellion to disobey the laws and I don’t think they murdered any Roman authorities. They were told to love God and love one another, and same applies today to Christians.
Also, what is more important, disobeying Obama and the US gov’t and trying to focus moreso on exposing a “new world order” or other conspiracy, OR doing the will of God, by living for God first and spreading the gospel to have other people saved? I think the latter is more important because if you die fighting against the US gov’t yet do not live for God, according to the Bible you won’t make it to heaven to be with Him for eternity. What’s more important a temporary peace on earth or eternal bliss with God in heaven? I think all this ties into obeying the laws of the land and obeying our leaders, because even if we disagree with Obama, yet obey him to a certain extent (see paragraph below), we will be righteous in God’s eyes and be an example to the world of God’s love. The bible says to seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness in Matthew 6:33. By obeying what God says through Paul in Romans 13 to obey our leaders, we are doing God’s will and seeking first His kingdom.
Now as much as we are called to obey our leaders, there is one EXCEPTION. IF a leader or government goes against God’s will or tells Christians to do things that are not righteous, then we can disobey. An example is right in the Bible itself, in Acts 5:27-29 where a high priest of a council told the apostles to not teach about Jesus, but the apostles refused and said they will obey God rather than men. That is the only case I know in the Bible where Christians can disobey God, when it interferes with doing God’s will and being a Christian. So if Obama starting saying that Christian’s can’t preach the Bible anymore, then Christians can disobey that command.
Now if the government is involved in atrocities, we should step up to the plate and do something about it. But disobeying our leaders isn’t a righteous thing to do unless it prevents Christians from worshiping God. I don’t think there is anything wrong with trying to expose a conspiracy. If Obama is involved in a conspiracy, then I don’t see how it’s wrong to try to expose it. But if he tells you to pay your taxes, then you need to pay your taxes (not saying that you don’t, but just as an example).
Now just to clarify, I am a Christian. I do not support Obama. I do not attend or associate myself with the Assemblies of God or any denominational church. I voted for Chuck Baldwin, and would’ve voted for Ron Paul if he was running.

Crazy. Honestly, are we insinuating now that the government is paying pastors to support it by preaching the Word of God? I always thought the stuff on this site was far-fetched, but that just takes the cake.
Listen, Alex – not being much of a Christian, I can understand why you are surprised that this church did what they did, and I expect about any person who really doesn’t understand what the Bible says to react in a similar manner, including some of the very people that attend these churches. The fact is this: there are a LOT of people running around calling themselves Christians who literally have no idea what is in the Bible because they do not READ IT.
Here is the truth: the Bible DOES say that we are to obey our leaders. It goes further, in fact: we are to PRAY FOR THEM. I’m sorry if that offends you, or if it offends you that the pastor of a church might stand upon the pulpit and teach it. However, to do so is in NO WAY a perversion of God’s word. It is in fact what God said – if you don’t like that, may I suggest you take it up with Him instead of attacking His preachers?
One other point: the Bible is very clear that there will be an “end times” and that there will be a global system; a global leadership by the Beast. That, too, is something you cannot change or stop, no matter how hard you struggle against it. I understand your anger about it, I understand your desire to avoid it, and I understand your deep seated wish to struggle against the coming of darkness… but I think you are mistaken in many of your beliefs, including the core belief that you could stop it if this is the beginning of those times. For the record, I don’t think even for a second that many of the half-baked things many of the folks who post here say are true, nor do I think the spin you put on world events is accurate or even fair. However, even if it were, the way to resist is NOT by encouraging churches to pervert the words of Christ and teach that we should rebel, be violent, etc. If you want to resist the enemy, give your life over to good. Stop living your own lives dedicated to what is carnal and impure and pursue God instead, and then God would work in our collective lives. Christ’s revolution is a personal one, not a social one. Christ didn’t advocate violence or rebellion. My friends, if you think that is the message of Christ, you don’t know Him very well.
This church was absolutely right – what they said was in line with the Word of truth. If you don’t like Obama, pray for him. Pray that he will receive guidance and inspiration from God. Pray that God will use him to bring about His will. Pray that he will deal with the people justly, and with a clean spirit. That is what the Bible instructs us to do, and anyone here or anywhere else that says otherwise simply does not know what the Word, pure and simple.

Apparently you didn’t view the news report (linked) which the anchors and reporters investigated. The pastor in the interview was all smiles and saying absolutely. You cannot go on what we are commenting about alone, but need to see the evidence which is documented. Those reporting this news never recanted the news as being far-fetched, since they were reporting an actual event and the facts behind the event.
And, I’m looking for an exact instance where Jesus or any of the apostles ever submitted to government, in the exact manner that is being inferred by Wootan’s comments.
I’m all about praying for people, as to assist in changing their hearts. That was simply glossed over in this sermon and the pastor went right into Wootan’s talking points and NOT following up with the remainder of Romans 13. The King James version is specific to noting submitting to higher powers. Now, I would call God my highest power, not the government. I submit, first and foremost, to God and respect those in authority. Respect doesn’t mean being in agreement with them. It’s simply allowing them to exercise their opinion.

You can call and email them with the information below. I call the 614 396 0700 telephone number and was put on to his secretary who told me “I’m not interested in your opinion”. Nice touch for a minister’s secretary, don’t you think? Perhaps she will be more interested if we pass this information around to our email lists and they call to voice their opinion.
The Assemblies of God is a HUGE organization with hundreds of churches in the USA and worldwide. We have the opportunity to send them the message that positions like CAN AND WILL HAVE CONSEQUENCES, and will WEAKEN their CHURCH’S MORAL STANDING AND LEADERSHIP POSITION.

I agree that we should pray for the President. But this does not mean we have to support what he does.
