This reads like a lawless blend of police state and big brother measures, and under the guise of “public safety,” mixes predatory revenue grabbing with undue data collection, all at the expense of the people.

A Dallas lawyer has sued Redflex, a photo-enforcement company that has been used nationwide to monitor traffic. He says that the private company doesn’t have the private investigation licensing it needs to legally collect data on the population for the purpose of law enforcement. However, that hasn’t stopped cities like Austin from using the systems anyway.
