Mexican officials frequently lecture the U.S. about our supposedly loose gun laws that are blamed for spreading anarchy south of our borders. Mexican President Filipe Calderon has admitted that his country is experiencing a “gradual and growing disintegration of public and governmental institutions.”

Never having met an excuse for gun control that they did not like, officials in the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) have set up computer terminals in American consulate offices throughout Mexico. Somehow, violating the privacy of American gun owners is supposed to help control crime in a corrupt and chaotic Mexico. Yeah, right.

But neither the Mexican lecturing nor the BATFE’s sharing of data on American gun owners will make one whit of difference. The type of gun control that Mexico is clamoring for sounds quite familiar to American gun owners. We have heard politicians in U.S. jurisdictions with draconian gun control (Washington, DC, for example) try to shift the blame for their high violent crime rates to guns brought in from elsewhere.

District of Columbia officials like to blame Virginia’s “loose” gun laws for the District’s crime woes. Unmentioned is the much lower (about 100 times lower) crime rate in neighboring Fairfax County with its population of nearly twice that of our nation’s crime capital.

Mexico, it turns out, has very similar gun laws to those in the District of Columbia (after the Supreme Court overturned their handgun ban). And the results are just as disastrous.

The same kind of scheme is employed in both Washington, D.C. and in Mexico. The post-ban D.C. law allows handgun ownership as well as non-semi-automatic rifles and shotguns. Until recently, the handgun ownership that was allowed was a joke — no semi-automatics. Just like Mexico.

    • A d v e r t i s e m e n t

A licensing scheme is an additional major obstacle for gun ownership in D.C. In Mexico, ownership is subject to the police power (the same clinker that is in the Illinois constitution). On top of that, just try to get a license to legally own a gun. New York City may have given the Mexicans lessons on this. Licensing can easily produce the same result as an outright ban.

Since the Mexican government has imposed their version of gun control even longer than has Washington, it is not surprising that crime is worse in Mexico. Much worse.

Raging gun battles between rival drug gangs surge through the streets of Mexican cities and towns — the thugs having no regard for innocent bystanders. The bystanders are helpless because by law, they have no guns (even at home). Alternately, cops and journalists are picked off when they don’t do what they are told by the traffickers. Becoming a police chief who is not on the take is a very gutsy thing to do.

The drug cartels are in effect conducting a civil war aimed at controlling the government for the enhancement of their “business.” Mexican border towns from Nuevo Laredo to Tijuana are among the locales that have been scenes in this civil war. But it does not stop in Mexico. There have been U.S. border incursions by armed, organized cartel units sometimes disguised as Mexican soldiers.

In June of this year, a Phoenix home was the scene of what is called in U.S. police jargon, a “dynamic entry.” This is another way of saying “an armed attack.” Black SUV’s, men in black BDU’s (battle dress uniforms), automatic rifles — an increasingly familiar scene in the U.S. — were employed in the attack. It seemed a little different, though, when one group of attackers began laying down covering fire while a second team invaded the home, killing a man inside (somewhat reminiscent of the BATFE attack on the Davidian’s building in Waco).

What was truly unique about the Phoenix no-knock entry was that the invaders were not U.S. cops. They were Mexican hit men taking care of business for a drug cartel — well inside the U.S. border.

In spite of the audacious faux-police attack in Phoenix, the president of one of Mexico’s most influential newspaper chains (Grupo Reforma) has moved to Texas over concerns for his safety in Mexico. Alejandro Junco and his family have moved to Austin, Texas. At least in Texas, this refugee has the legal right to protect himself.

Interesting that a crime refugee fled the Mexican gun control Mecca for the “Wild West” of the U.S.

We cannot do much about Mexico’s laws, although it is tempting to return the favor of their elites who lecture us about our gun laws. But we can do something about U.S. politicians who are openly anti-self defense, or who do nothing to remove our dangerous gun control laws that only benefit criminals (the same as they do in Mexico). We can expose them all.

Arming citizens of the u.s. side of the border towns should be manatory!

    2. REALITYZONE Says:

american soldiers will be on the ground patrolling the streets very soon. they will use the excuse that mexico needs our help, the streets are in chaos. control through chaos is what they want. it will be another step toward the north american union.

      challenge your beliefs Reply:

Who is going to secure the american oil supply if not the U.S. military – as usual? I suppose they just figured out that it would be easier to conquer Mexico than to finish their mission in Iraq. So yes americans, you have to support the idea of an american invasion in Mexico if you want to continue to drive your SUVs!

    3. Merrie Says:

FEAR NOT GLORIFY BARAMA, FOR HE WILL FEED THE MEXICANS, FOR HE IS GREAT AND A FRIEND TO ALL ILLEGAL DRUG TRAFFICKERS. LOVE BARAMA, FOR HE IS THE SAVIOR OF MANKIND. THE LORD RAHM HATH SPOKEN, EMULATE BARAMA. ALL IS WELL MCB

    4. gold and silver myth Says:

The power of the military and law enFORCEment should be vested in the citizens. The people can police their own local areas. We don’t need the federalized military or organized cop gangs.

    5. Theywontchipme Says:

Every parent should teach their children proper gun safety and skill at a young age period.

    6. GONZO Says:

Mexico is not in a state of civil war. Currently a paramilitary organization runs most of the nation, this group known as the zetas are ex military special forces or GAFE. Their leadership is said to be trained at the School of the Americas (SOA), we remmember them don’t we! The SOA helped train the Argentinian dictatorship of the 1970’s, our dear friend Noriega in Panama, and other Latin American military officers who used their training to implement dirty wars. Anyways they are trained in counter insurgency, intellegence gathering, and other areas of urban guerilla warfare. The Zetas have been working for the Gulf Cartel since the late 90’s, during the time I personally remember rumors of dissaperances and tapped phones along the Mexican side of the boder. Since the arrest and extradition of Osiel Cardenas, the Cartel’s leader, the group took control of the Cartel and with their expertise most of the country. Earlier this month the largest ever private stockpile of weaponds in Mexican history was found in the border city of Reynosa: 500,000 pounds of ammunition, hundreds of automatic rifles, hundreds of granades, and other weaponds. While I am against ANY restrictions of the second amendment it is proven that 95% of confiscaded weapons in Mexico come from the United States. We supply the country with a DEMAND for drugs, the TRAINING for tyrannical take overs, and a steady SUPPLY of INCOME and WEAPONDRY. Considering the nature of the Mexican American border the Border War is not spilling over to the American side, it has been here from the start! The difference now is that more pressure for extradition from the United States is forcing their hand, many members of this group along the border are U.S. citizens, some even hold dual citizenship and have used this to escape crimes in either country.

      Remember the Alamo.

Time to lock and load, people. Prepare to defend yourselves.

    9. Moe Bitches Says:

I would like to see at least one gun in every household. That’s a social program I could get behind.

    10. American Insurgent Says:

I hope that you are being sarcastic peter.

    11. ? Says:

If they decide to try some gun ban bullshit in this country just buy illegal guns from the street PERIOD! The government will never know who you are just buy them illegally if there is a ban put in place.

    12. GONZO Says:

What the United States needs to do is to stop interfering in, training, and manipulating other countries! This Border War started in the late 90’s when Osiel Cardenas, the Gulf Cartel leader at the time, hired a group of mexican speical forces dessertes to become his enforces. These Zetas were GAFE, a division of mexican airborne special forces, and were also said to be trained at SOA (School of the Americas). For those not familiar with the school it is presentely located in Georgia and former alumni include members of the Argentinian Junta of the 1970’s, Noriega, members of Pinochet’s staff, and other Latin American military officers who contributed to drug distribution and dirty wars. They are said to be trained in counter insurgency, intellegence gathering, and other areas useful to their experise in urban guerrilla warfare. For the last ten years they have strong armed them selfs to their current position of power through their brutal yet effective tactics and their billions in drug money. I do not in ANY way support restrictions to the second amendment but our influence on other countries is undeniable! WE HAVE A GREAT DEMAND FOR DRUGS IN THIS COUNTY, AND WE HAVE SUPPLIED THEM WITH INCOME, WEAPONDRY, AND TRAINING. It has also been proven that 95% of weapons confiscaded in Mexico originate in the United States!Earlier this month the largest ever private stockpile of private weapondry was confiscaded in the border city of Reynosa Tamaulipas in Mexico. It contained 500,000 pounds of ammuntion and hundreds of automatic rifles and granades. They fly in foreign guerilla fighters from central and soutn america for training, and sometimes even hire them as enforcers. This is not a Mexican Civil War that is spilling onto the American side! Considering the nature and history of the MEX-Am border, it has always been here. Some of the newest members of this organization are American Citizens, even some of its leadership. Many even hold dual citizen ship and are able to cross to border to evade prosecution on either side. For over five years they also have had leadership operating in the Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio areas. American policy and intervention created civil wars and dictatorships through out Latin America, the taliban, al qaida, iran, the viet cong, and many other threats to its freedom.

    13. Pollyanna Says:

I live in a small town 400 miles from the border. Since August there have been 60 burglaries in which guns, alcohol, cigarettes and the usual fencible electronics & jewelry have been taken. If each home had one gun…

The perps are quite professional in their surveillence techniques, hitting homes in time frames of less than an hour. They rent a house from someone who owns a pawnshop over the state line where our local cops can’t go. They have been very hard to catch.

If it is true that the rogue element of the CIA controls the flow of drugs into this country, then it controls the gangs. If it controls the gangs, then it must have some say on their activities. I wonder if they are actively disarming our citizens this way and arming the drug thugs for the future.

The thing about the ATF handing over any list of gun owners to any foreign nation is that it provides a shopping list to give to the drug thugs and saves lots of time. If all of our guns are burglarized, we won’t be able to fight back when we need to and gun control will be a moot issue.

    14. Are We Awake? Says:

8, in Kennsaw, I believe in gA they said that everyone owning a home had to hve a gun in it, and many in that community do. Wow not roberies, crime rate much lower, and everyone is peaceful. Wow it works. I say everyone should go buy a gun, and let them know you have it and are willing to use it, and the crooks and government might think twice.

one gun for every home, and one goun for every adult who is mentally stable and able to use it.

If you want to give a loved or yourself a nice Christmas present, buy a rifle for someone or yorself.

Buy ammo for yor loved ones who have guns.

Keep your powder dry and your ammo ready.

    15. Are We Awake? Says:

Instead of buying the family lots of gifts for christmas, why not buy a gun for the houshold, or two and shoot lessons for all of age in the house.

We are doing that at my house, and everyone in the house will be armed, and my family is excited about it. There are some good combat shooting classes out there and what better gift to give one then the ability to protect themselves?

Man, Those Mexican politicians are a bunch of corrupted lie to your face basters. I’m a Mexican american and I’m disgusted of the culture of corruption in Mexico. The are only ripping what they have planted many years ago. Rather than Invested the oil wealth into world class education they invested it into their privet wealth, drug and prostitutes. Instead of reinvesting in Mexico infrastructure and those building companies and job, they give it to EURO companies so to rape Mexico again. I don not blame the drug dealer and their willingness to use arms, they are only giving them self what the Mexican governments never did. Most of the time they give more to the community than the government ever did. I say that we should arm every Mexican to scare the shite out that corrupt government full of wanna be Spaniards elites. That would was so solve the Immigration problem.

    20. batman551 Says:

Last time I check, there were no arms manufacturing in Mexico, so they must come from a place where the sale of guns is not controlled. drugs by the ton fly one way, guns by the thousends flow in the other direction, and they fly on airplanes and by the highways of both countries, not carried by illegals. just remember the Iran Contras affair back when Regan was president. the names have change, the corruption in both countries remains the same.

    21. trucker Says:

the company i drove for a company has a terminal in laredo. you have men in green uniforms stoping 5 lanes of traffic just to ask you if you are a us citizen and if their is any people in your truck.and thats 28 miles into texas, and their is only 1 german shepard or a black dog working all 5 lanes and sometimes they dont have a dog at all

    22. Robert Says:

Yep. Last time I took a load to Laredo, when leaving, we went thru that. They are crafty in how they ask you sometimes. The guy asked me if I was an american in spanish.

I imagine though Laredo is a paradise compared to El paso.

Feel sorry for the folks on the border.

    23. Harry Says:

Whats happening in Mexico is the plite of all countries all over the world, the occault have many plans.
like the shakira song “now that your born half beast half man” these where in the lyrics of her last hit song, the diablo is spreading useing many types.
Mexico is the future of all Countries wich the people are unarmed, even Australia will become like Mexico, at a drop of a dime, in fact, Australia is Mexico in the 80’s, soon Australian crims and crim will match the Mexicans because of the dissarament of people.

Remember, as an American you are required to defend the US Constitution against foreign and domestic threats. Own a gun equates to upholding the US Constitutional 2nd Amendment! Peace.

    25. Once a Marine Always a Marine Says:

Not long ago I witnessed a marathon in Chicago where a LARGE illegal Mexican population were watching the race…everytime any runner ran by, no sound from the illegals…everytime a Mexican runner ran by, the illegal crowd went nuts. Lesson: if illegals really want to be American citizens, that they truly love this country, then why not prove your loyalty to America and support Americans in America? Hmmmm. Just a question. Peace.

    26. steve_rogers Says:

I’m seeing the same thing everywhere I look. Obama’s going to try to confiscate all the guns. It’ll be portrayed as just certain guns from certain people, but in reality it’ll be the start of the total disarmerment process. If hell freezes over, and we do just hand over our guns, they are now free to begin the detention and removal process, here and abroad. These guns are the only thing keeping most of us alive right now. Give up your gun, you’re not only giving up your freedom, you’re giving up your life and your familly members’ lives.

what the heck does our firearm policy have to do with Mexico? This stinks of NWO screen play. They are building a case for gun control. Remember that ” The best defense against tyrrany is a well armed public.” as Thomas Jefferson said.
